Listen to me. Listen very carefully:
They are trying to wear you out.
They are trying to wear you out, and they own most major social media now, along with many major media outlets. The disinformation machine is cranking along. You are going to have to slow the fuck down and read things before you help them wear out other people, too.
So you just saw a post about a real scary bill, hunh? Republicans want to make it a capital offense to pet dogs and repeal The Sky Is Blue Act of 1793, declaring the new official color of the sky to be squant? Damn, that sounds scary.
Let's go look up this fictitious "Make The Sky Squant Again Act" on GovTracker* & on the official legislative tracker on congress.gov!
Tracking legislation and votes in the United States Congress.
U.S. Congress legislation, Congressional Record debates, Members of Congress, legislative process educational resources presented by the Lib
Well, let's see... GovTracker estimates it has a 1% chance of even getting out of committee and a 0% chance of being enacted, while congress.gov says this bill has 2 cosponsors who have been in the House and combined total of less than a month. The bill doesn't have any actual text, and it was referred to 5 different committees.
That fictitious bill and a hundred others like it are quite literally not worth your time, and more than that, continuing to wring your hands about it and tell other people about the scary scary squant sky bill only does their work for them. It scares people, it makes them spend time and energy on it, and it wears them out. It is a legislative Gish Gallop, meant to throw so many things at people that we can't keep up.
Even calling or messaging your Rep in this case means their staffer has to waste time responding to you and letting you know that Representative Buttzonheads definitely won't support making petting dogs a capital offense, a thing that will never, ever happen regardless.
Staying engaged in this environment is going to require protecting your heart and protecting your energy, yes, but also protecting the energy of others. This is why WWII propaganda posters also included ones taking people to task for spreading panicky rumors and undermining morale.
Do you know why most observant Jews don't eat chicken and dairy together, even though the ban is on red meat and dairy together bc you're not supposed to cook the calf in the milk of its mother?** It's not because we think that chicken might secretly lactate or Just Because. It's because the rabbis decided that if I'm sitting out in public and eating turkey and cheese together, someone might glance at the turkey and mistake it for red meat and think, "oh, well, I know that Spider is a good Jew, there must have been a change, or maybe I can just justify it to myself that if Spider does it, it must be permissible to bend the rules just that much." And I would then be accidentally leading my fellow Jew astray. We are responsible for being even more careful for the sake of others than we are for ourselves.
It's the same principle here. We need to really be careful about the information we are spreading and check things past reading a news site. Is it true? Is it relevant? Is it meaningful? Is the news site one I recognize? Can I find meaningful independent corroboration on another site, which is to say, if I find an article about it on a second site, is it just quoting or rephrasing this site?
Yeah, that is a lot. But that's how we keep them from using us to lead our fellows astray.
*GovTracker is an independent site. They explain their methodology in their About section.
**I cannot say enough how I am not at this time interested in going on a Jewish Side Quest About Dietary Laws on this post. Usually, I love it, but hold off this time, please, y'all. Let's stay on target this once.
This is why every vote matters. YOUR vote matters. Please vote!
Actually that’s exactly how it works. Here, lemme break down the numbers. I’ll be using the 2020 presidential election voter turnout.
In 2020, the total U.S. population was about 332,450,000.
Of that number, about 240,000,000 were eligible to vote.
Of eligible voters, only about 66.1% actually voted. And that’s a high turnout, historically speaking.
Of the 158,427,986 eligible voters who actually voted,
81,283,501 voted for Biden. That’s 24.5% of the overall U.S. population.
74,223,975 voted for Trump. That’s 22% of the overall U.S. population.
(I’m guessing the graphic used updated number from 2024 for population size.)
But yes, that’s exactly how it all works. Not everyone in the U.S. is eligible to vote (sometimes due to voter suppression, but also due to being too young).
Of those who ARE eligible to vote, as many didn’t vote as voted for either Biden or Trump.
Who wins is determined by who fucking shows up to vote.
Democracy works exactly as well as how much you participate in it.
Trump voters are only 22% of the general population.
They’re only 31% of eligible voters.
They’ll be easy to defeat.
IF PEOPLE ACTUALLY FUCKING VOTE.
Which is why it's important to pair posts like this with actual resources on, for example:
Who can vote
How to register
How to fill a ballot
Where to vote
What to expect on your ballot
How to report if your voter registration is illegally denied or mishandled
How to process a change of name or address
How to get an ID card (financial assistance not available)
See, the thing a lot of people don't get is, the US system is designed to SUPPRESS AND DENY votes. Fun fact for those who went to school elsewhere: none of the stuff I linked is actually required learning in our schools. Followup fact: the reason I mention financial assistance for ID cards is, our free ID (social security card) is not valid for voting in half of states; expensive photo IDs are required.
For the Americans, you must understand: Most places with elections take the exact opposite approach. Do you know how fucked up it is that in the US you can't even get a whole day off work, despite voter queues often being several hours long due to lack of polling places? How absolutely pigshit bonkers it is that people have to PAY to vote (via ID fees)?
The international folks are appalled because that's fucked up! 18% picking your president is unhinged! It actually truly does represent a broken system!
In other words this is a real, systemic issue that can take years to overcome IF you even have the ability to do it at all.
If you're lucky enough not to face any of the hurdles, stay informed on the subject so you can help the rest of us out.
Voter suppression is not caused by personal moral failing.
It's caused by the broken system.
Game the system. Vote.

looking at (vetted) gofundmes for people trying to escape palestine and i don't know how many of you actually click on the gofundme links you reblog but i would like to point out, for what it's worth, just how amazing it is that so many have raised so much money. it may overall feel like a drop in the ocean but the fact that several gofundmes have raised tens of thousands of dollars is amazing. it is so expensive to leave gaza right now, and people still need money after they escape. but regardless of what propaganda the US, UK, canada, and other western nations are trying to pump out, people across the world are doing what they can to help these people survive. many of them are still very far from their goals (like this one and this one and this one) and some of them are very close to high goals (like this one), and some of them have reached almost double their original goal.
and that's not even addressing direct aid or organizations that take continuous donations for distribution of food, menstrual products, etc. the PCRF has raised $16,000,000 of their target goal of $20,000,000 to fund current aid and long-term relief efforts in gaza. ANERA's febuary 13th update discusses the material ways they helped palestinians today:
(ANERA donate link)
my point is, it often feels like the world is turning a blind eye to palestine. but i would like to point out that there is an important difference between "the world" and "western political leaders and media narratives". a breathtaking amount of real people, the people who make up the world, are trying to help. in the face of israel attempting to commit genocide, the world is saying No. These people deserve to live. and literally sending millions of dollars internationally, through the internet connection that israel has desperately been trying to destroy.
it may not feel like it matters in the grand scheme of things. but to the people who get fresh clothes, or a hot meal, or blankets, or the kids who get new toys, or to the people who are able to bring their families to safety, it matters to them. go make someone's day better. i've linked so many options with ways to do that.
When absolutely 0 of Biden’s accomplishments have made any kind of news, and we’ve been fed a steady diet of fear and panic for 3 years, no one gets to be shocked when he loses the next election to Donald 2.0.
Posting anything positive about the president here will get you called a capitalist bootlicker.
What do we expect to happen?
Anger sells better. Anger feels better, it feels righteous.
It’s easier to protest against a president you don’t like then to actually remain in charge and keep pushing ahead, even if small, consistent accomplishments are all you receive.
I know I’ll never be missing an election in my life again (barring some kind of major medical event).
I just wish it weren’t so damn frustrating, feeling like you’re screaming into the void constantly, fighting against apathy.
CMS just announced that the government will start taking high-cost drugs that were developed with taxpayer dollars and start pulling patents to force competition and low cost generics. That’s fucking momentous.
I saw 1 news article on it. I wouldn’t have known it happened if I didn’t read the news every day. This should have caused the kind of celebration that erupted when companies started announcing $35 insulin caps. Why didn’t it?
Low cost hearing aids, lower and $0 student loans, concrete investments in green architecture…there was an announcement like 2 days ago to replace all leaded pipes out of US cities over the next 10 years, which will be an absolute boon in jobs for construction workers and can make our homes safer for kids. I’m sure I’ll see a headline in a year, “Biden’s lead pipe program causes drivers traffic headaches.”
Republicans want 20 foot concrete barriers topped with barbed wire across the entire southern border, and Democrats want amnesty and ease to citizenship for just about anyone who crosses, and it really seems like until a compromise is made somewhere in there, Republicans will continue to turn out in massive numbers to elections because God told them to, and Democrats will continue to stay home because the last president didn’t accomplish 100% of their goals and voting for an imperfect president is a personal and ethical failing.
Now take that mentality and spread it over every single social and economic issue.
I remember how utterly scared and angry we were sone years ago when Trump was trying to bankrupt the USPS. People were talking about it left right and sideways, asking people to buy from the USPS gift shop, start a stamp collection, anything. Then, Biden got elected and put a huge stop to that by getting rid of the unfair laws that only the USPS had to abide by. Overnight, the USPS was saved, and how did everyone react?
They didn't. It was hardly mentioned. Not a blip.
Same exact thing when it came to net neutrality!! It was DEVASTATING when it was killed. People died in wildfires because Internet providers throttled data of firefighters. Xfinity actually stole identities in order to make it happen.
About a month ago, BAM, it was restored because Biden appointed a Democratic leader to the FFC. Did anyone talk about it? Nope. I saw ONE post.
okay, so as much as I think that Biden was the least shitty of two garbage presidential candidates, and as much as I disagree with some of the things he’s done… …I have to admit that the Biden-Harris administration has done more for the average American’s life than any other I can remember in the last 20-30 years. even with a congress made up of majority spoiled toddlers who would rather kill a man than vote “yes” to save a hundred thousand, they have:
changed the Medicare enrollment periods for elderly and disabled individuals, so that they don’t have to literally enroll in the designated period for enrollment and then STILL WAIT for 2, 3, 4, 5, or even SIX months for their healthcare to start
along the Medicare line, they have added special enrollments for: people who just got released from jail, who lost their low-income healthcare through Medicaid, had a medical emergency or natural disaster that made them miss enrollment, didn’t enroll because they were lied to by their employers, etc
they CAPPED THE COST OF INSULIN to $35/MONTH FOR MEDICARE BENEFICIARIES!!!!! and they are working to get it capped to that for all Americans!!! (but of course, Republicans are fighting it)
Biden pardoned all prior federal offenses for simple possession of marijuana and started the review process to get weed rescheduled federally
provided hundreds of billions nationally in funding for the repair of roads/bridges/highways, expanding high-speed internet access, improving public transportation, adding electric vehicle charging, adding clean energy sources, removing pollution still leaking into communities from industrial manufacturing from DECADES ago, and REMOVAL OF LEAD PIPES not just on state land but on TRIBAL land and TERRITORIES!
cracked down on the (frankly, abusive) overdraft fees from banks - to the point that many banks have removed the fees outright rather than deal with an investigation from the federal government over them - and the last minute surprise fees from hotels/concert venues/etc.
They are working to change Social Security taxation so that those making above $400,000/yr actually have to fucking CONTRIBUTE - because, if you didn’t know, currently Social Security taxes cap out at $160,000. Yes, meaning that those who are MOST ABLE TO AFFORD paying more taxes, and who would contribute MORE in taxes, are paying pennies (if anything).
Also, to increase the minimum SSA benefit from just a cut-and-dry figure that has to be manually increased (and is therefore subject to NOT getting increased), to a scaling percentage of 125% above the poverty line
Also, also, to increase benefits for surviving spouses who abruptly lose 50%+ of their income when a spouse dies, then are shit out of luck for paying for homes/vehicles/etc
Not only that but:
as many people who were vocally against it, they also made covid vaccines widely available and FREE for everyone during the pandemic
provided massive student loan debt relief
ENACTED A MINIMUM 15% CORPORATE TAX on large companies, who otherwise tend to skirt taxes with legally-gray methods
Rejoined the Paris Agreement - literally can’t believe I even have to say that
are providing relief to veterans exposed to burn pits
reauthorized the Violence Against Women Act and added protections for LGBTQ+ individuals and non-women victims, changed it so it now allows tribes to now hold non-native aggressors liable under tribal justice systems, and improved long and short term housing for victims (as well as increased emergency housing access)
I’m not going to say I agree with every action taken under the Biden-Harris admin (lol, looking at you specifically, IRS), but. These things change people’s lives. Not just a little - they are the difference between literally dying a slow death from lack of medication and living happily. Between getting heart surgery and NOT getting heart surgery, because you don’t have health insurance, because you just got out of prison for having one (1) molecule of weed stuck to your sleeve during a traffic stop. Election season is already starting, so if you have to remember one thing, remember this:
Adding to this list, the Biden-Harris administration has also:
Changed the Extra Help with Medicare Prescription Drug program, so that EVERYONE on Medicare who is under 150% of the federal poverty level can qualify for zero monthly premiums, zero deductibles, and capped prescription costs at $4.50 generic/$11.40 name-brand.
Provided $3.5 million in grants to expand internet coverage on and to tribal lands.
And $728 million to provide clean, sustainable drinking water to rural and tribal communities and support water and river conservation in the Colorado river basin.
Provided funding for the expansion of Medicaid, meaning that now 40 states offer a year’s worth of health coverage after birth, so postpartum complications can be, y'know… treated without putting you into massive medical debt.
Demanded an additional year of coverage for children’s healthcare under CHIP, via the CAA of 2023, with a hopeful continuation even further under section 1115.
Invested $265 million across 16 states for natural disaster preparation and recovery, including streambank stabilization, flood prevention and watershed restoration projects.
And honestly, this administration has done so much more that I don’t have time to list - with wide-ranging effects that won’t be fully felt for another few years, but are MONUMENTAL for our country, our healthcare, our environment, our jobs, and our futures.
Please don’t allow shills and bots to convince you that voting doesn’t matter or that your vote is inconsequential.

Wow clearly the words of a genocidal maniac amirite 🤪
It’s almost like it takes time and effort to actually enact foreign policy and the people whose activism ends at reposting slogans online or defacing Jewish businesses will never understand that because their entire political ideology hinges upon refusing to engage with reality
Nooooo it doesn’t count because Biden didn’t performatively post about his diplomacy while the deal was being struck :((
Okay great, definitely agree with the second part, except the implication here is that Biden has been pro-genocide, which literally goes against the point of this post, that he has been actively trying to reach a deal to stop the fighting the whole time behind the scenes. Can people please stop being chicken shit about going against their braindead zoomer friends online who are screaming "Genocide Joe"
I mean, this is how Biden tends to work. He's going by an older political playbook (one way I think his age does put him out of step with younger voters) where a lot of the "real" work happens out of the public eye. It's very much as odds with modern "performative politics" which tends to be about yelling around in public without necessarily doing all that much else. He also (because he's President) has to juggle a lot of conflicting things at once.
Take the railworker's strike - people were screaming their guts out about how awful Biden was for breaking the strike. But, as right as the workers were about what needed to change, the strike would have potentially been a real disaster for the US economy. So Biden signed a law to keep things going in the meantime . . . but then, next June:
"We’re thankful that the Biden administration played the long game on sick days and stuck with us for months after Congress imposed our updated national agreement,” Russo said. “Without making a big show of it, Joe Biden and members of his administration in the Transportation and Labor departments have been working continuously to get guaranteed paid sick days for all railroad workers. “We know that many of our members weren’t happy with our original agreement,” Russo said, “but through it all, we had faith that our friends in the White House and Congress would keep up the pressure on our railroad employers to get us the sick day benefits we deserve. Until we negotiated these new individual agreements with these carriers, an IBEW member who called out sick was not compensated.”
He *kept working* on it, behind the scenes.
Speaking as an old fart, from the very beginning of the current disaster in Israel-Palestine, Biden's public statements have been a little jaw-dropping for a US President. He actually *admitted out loud* that the US fucked up its response to 9/11 and said in no uncertain terms that Israel should not do the same. That's *nuts.* I still can't believe people just let that pass (I mean, I was around for "freedom fries" and all that bullshit in 2001 - saying anything bad about the US response to 9/11 used to be an invitation for flying monkeys to descend). Biden has repeatedly emphasized the rules of war, the need to minimize civilian casualties, etc., etc. He hasn't been bombastic about it, but he has said it. Over and over and over.
Yes, he announced public (and monetary) support for Israel, but my read on it is that's a) reflecting the fact that the US is, yanno, allied with Israel (like it or not), and b) also putting the kibosh on the whole thing turning into a massive multi-nation throw-down, which it had the potential to do. If there are US aircraft carriers sitting right there like 500lb gorillas, with a US pledge to support one of the two sides, that has a cooling effect. If it's bad now, it would be way worse if the war spread - and Biden knows this and has to play to that. So far it seems to have worked. I hope it continues to work.
And about that $ aid - it's important to remember that international aid isn't just a friendly prezzie, necessarily - it can also be leverage. There are some Dems now saying that any aid to Israel should come with conditions. Trust me - there were always going to be conditions, but probably not publicly-announced because, again, that's the old-school version of politics.
I think one very good analysis I saw on the news yesterday is that older Americans tend to look at the current conflict through the lens of geopolitics, while younger Americans see it almost entirely as a civil rights issue. To be fair, it's both, and people need to be taking both aspects into account.
And, really, what do some folks expect Biden to have done? Israel is a separate country that the US is allied with, but not one we control. It has a democratically-elected government. Short of a full scale invasion and regime change (you know, the Imperialist stuff people love to hate about the US and which is always a dismal failure anyway), Biden can't *make* Bibi and Co. do anything. The best he can do is what he did - try to position the US as a friend who is offering important advice, very forcefully, while applying massive amounts of diplomatic pressure behind the scenes. I know how it can seem that he wasn't doing anything, but . . . he was.
We can all argue about whether his choices were correct, effective, etc., but . . . compare this with the Republican stance on the situation and you'll quickly see both sides are not the same.
I also wonder how much politicians operating at the level of a president could even do modern performative internet politics with any scrap of integrity.
When sensitive deals are being brokered, you can’t share details. When compromises are being hammered out, you can’t brag that you’re getting things your way.
I’ve seen political systems where it’s an accepted fact that leaders brag and bluster while being corrupt on a covert and overt scale that would make even American lobbyists blush.
The fact that Biden is bad at blowing his own horn and that people can call him “Genocide Joe” with zero consequences from the government is part of why I can still sleep at night.

what exactly IS the hermatix?
HERMATRIX: A Complete Summary (so far)
So the hermatrix is an ARG (alternate reality game) that has been going on in Doc and Ren’s videos since the start of season 8. What this means is that Doc and Ren have been slowly dropping hints and clues in their videos for the fans to solve, creating a bit of a storyline and leading to various websites, other people, and at one point even a Minecraft server. I’m going to use this opportunity to summarize everything that’s happened in the ARG so far. Heads up, it is VERY long.

(Panel 3) Nana: Don’t forget, okay?
(Panel 4) Shigaraki(?): Don’t forsake me!
Sorry for formatting, I’m on mobile. I can’t tell who’s speaking in panel 4. The word 否定 can translate to “deny/negate/refuse” but in this context I think “forsake” fits better.
