“Grounding" @gabrielhutchings
In this performance art piece I play a Tibetan singing bowl that produces a C note. The C note is related to the Root Chakra, Om. The location of this Chakra is in the base of the spine and is connected to grounding one’s self. I often use this singing bowl to assist myself into a meditative state. The vibrations of the bowl is physically felt throughout my body as I listen to the bowl ring and fade out into silence. With this instrument I am more able to balance my body and mind into accepting there is no failure in mindfulness despite wondering thoughts or movement. That in the end I can always find my center again. I made sure to keep very neutral colors in this performance to help give that grounding effect visually. Meditation and mindfulness has been one of the most important practices I do on a daily basis that keeps me going on through life’s many challenges. Particularly right now it has kept me at peace at times I feel all is lost.

I truly enjoyed this performance art. It is very beautiful and well done.

“Mr. Eric’s Cannabis Street”
The concept I wanted to explore was bringing part of one’s private life into the public. What better way than this? The format is meant to parody both Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street. The juxtaposition tickled me.
Great Performance Art! I enjoyed the fact you made your audience laugh!!
Artist Statement for Project 5
In project 5, it includes my brother Jose and myself. There really is no meaning to this performance art, its more of the fact of taking risk and appearing as an individual in front of people. It was a lot of fun making this work of art as it is something Jose and myself would never do. Overall, Marina was an inspiration to this art as it made me think of something I would never do, but Marina would probably do because of how much of a risk taker she has been her whole life. This was a fun project to create!!

Roselee Goldberg essay response
In Roselee’s essay, it talks about performance art being around for many years. It has been a part of many art movements whether it was accepted or not. As well as how it took a while for it to fully be accepted as a form of art. It’s actually crazy to think how performance art is everywhere! A great example is, you can be recording someone on Snapchat (that’s them obliviously doing performance art). It is then uploaded for people to allow for 24 hours of viewing, then it’s removed. The way the performance art is viewed can go many different ways. But at the end of all, it’s considered performance art without people really thinking about it. Overall, performance art is a unique way of catching people’s attention out of no where and a great way to keep them entertained if doing it in downtown!
Marina Abramovic film response
This movie was inspiring to me. I really appreciated the type of artist Marina has been her whole life. It definitely teaches you to not be timid and to take risk in life. I enjoyed the idea of her doing something that is not very well known or done commonly in art, it makes you want to be her! Art doesn’t always have to be done on paper, art has many forms of creativity and performance art is a huge example of what art also is! Marina herself is also an inspiring and incredible person. I’d like to one day attend one of her museum art performance!
Project number 4.
I could not figure out what my project was going to be about. I realized I could include my dog in my video. I also figured that once I would take her outside, she would want to chase birds, which is what she probably thinks about every time I take her outside. So portion of this video is her looking around at the birds or squirrels she could be chasing and the other portion is her thinking how good she would be at catching them (this portion is the cartoon looking part in my video).

Vanishing and Becoming
This was an interesting reading, with lots of words and concepts that were tricky to understand. I do feel like the reading mainly focuses on what makes art art, and what makes a simple object stand out and be seen. It is all done through light. It goes back to cavemen, when they first began to draw and how they discovered art. The beginning of this reading talks about how art entered human life, which gives an example of a woman finding a charcoal and using to outline a man, it seem like. That is quite interesting as it creates a clear vision of what art is and how it is seen through light. If it was not for light, art probably would not exists. It also talks about a lot of philosophies that have to do with light being used to see art.
