I find extremely interesting the points of view that The Good Place brought to our attention and based on that I was reanalyzing the whole Lord of the Flies situation and thinking that it doesn't actually matter if the kids were "good" or "bad" in the island. For me, the behaviours the kids have in the island are significantly influenced by the environment they were raised. They (the older ones) pretended to be adults, each one with their own idea of what being an adult was like. For Ralph, it was organization and helping out the little ones. For Jack, if you go deeper in all that "i'm the leader, let's hunt pigs", it comes down to Being The Alpha. Acting with no consequences in the name of power, a simple case of toxic masculinity. There are great chances they were mirroring the adults they lived at home with which brings us to "people improve when they get external love. how can we hold it against them when they don't?". Can we actually perceive Jack as "bad" when we don't know the circumstances he lived in? When, if given the chances, he could improve? And it makes a lot of sense to think about this notion of improvement when given love and support in the context of toxic masculinity, right? How can a boy be taught to be soft when he's told that softness equals weakness? After watching TGP, I do think boys like Jack Merridew can improve, thanks for coming to my ted talk.

Lotf Boys Dealing with Finals

Ralph: *Totally on top of everything.  He’s completely organized and the person that’s organizing the study groups and helping others with their studying*

Jack: *Has never studied for a final once in his life, and yet somehow manages to ace all of the tests.  This fact infuriates Ralph and Jack refuses to tell him his secret*

Piggy: *Panics for weeks leading up to finals.  He studies constantly, usually with Ralph, and rereads his entire textbook to prepare*

Simon: *Sets up a study schedule and actually sticks to it.  Takes breaks and has snacks for maximum study efficiency.  Is completely calm throughout the entire process*

Roger: *Refuses to study.  He could do great on his finals, but he never bothers to put in any effort.  He would rather throw papers at Simon’s head in an attempt to get Simon to pay attention to him*

Maurice: *An extreme procrastinator.  He waits until the day before, or sometimes hours before, the test and desperately tries to cram all of the information into his brain at once.  This has mixed results*

Samneric: *Hate studying with their entire being, but can usually be coerced into studying alongside Ralph and Piggy*
