Can anyone translate this?
Q: After you defeat the titans, in the peaceful world, what kind of life would you like to have?
Eren: A world without titans? Can’t really imagine it. Well, it would be relieving to live a kind of life I had with my parents.
Levi: That is, if you manage to stay alive this long. I would probably stay with the guys from Survey Corps. And clean the mess that’s left.
Q: In what way, with what kind of words would you propose?
Eren: “Would you live together with me?” is what you usually say, right?
Levi: Are words really so important?
Q: Your perfect bride?
Eren: I would say Mikasa, but it’s a little… Haha…
Levi: That’s personal.
Q: What kind of wedding would you have?
Eren: Kind that would make everyone enjoy themselves.
Levi: A quick one. I’m busy.
Q: From the trainees, who do you think will be the fastest to get married?
Eren: Marco, it’s quite obvious, right? He’s always looking out for other people.
Levi: A strange as it may sound, Eren. Yeah, I think it would be him.
It’s quite a rough translation and I can’t really see Eren’s last answer. If someone sees any mistakes, please tell me!
Q: Bold question, your ideal bride?
Eren: I knew you want me to say it’s Mikasa, but I won’t tell you (laugh)
Levi: What a disgusting question
Q: What kind of wedding would you have?
Eren: Kind that would make everyone enjoy themselves.
Levi: Can we finish this interview soon? I’m busy.
Q: From the trainees, who do you think will be the fastest to get married?
Eren: Marco, it’s quite obvious, right? He’s always looking out for other people and tactful. Everyone always says that they want to be under Marco’s leadership
Levi: This might be a strange opinion, but I think Eren is the type that will get married early
EDIT: I have asked 2 of my Japanese colleagues and my sister who is fluent in Japanese to discuss more about Eren answer. Firstly because I feel that it won’t be so direct (this kind of interview normally won’t give straight out answer, especially with Eren being 15 years old, when doing this translation, I need to think like Eren). So there is possibilities of following explanation
1. Eren answer on perfect bride was ended with それはどうかな
The explanation of that phrase is very deep, that I need to check on Japanese web dictionary to find the proper meaning
「それはどうかな?」とは、相手の企む思惑にたいして自身が懐疑的であることを示し、動揺を誘う言葉であり (source)
Sore ha dou ka na means, one is not sure (has no confidence) about the other party’s feeling, one is hesitating in own’s invitation. It can be for Mikasa or this also can mean Eren himself is not sure about what the interviewer think about it.
2. But that can be different context based on when the question is asked, the phrase also can mean, Eren himself is not sure about this answer (because he is a teenager). He feels that the interviewer might have wanted him to answer “Mikasa” but since he jokingly said それはどうかな, according to my friend it can also mean that he is teasing the interviewer that he would not want to share the answer. (a bit OOC though but anyway it’s one of possibilities)
I really apologize for the lack of research in previous post, and I kept thinking about Eren’s answer because it shouldn’t be that easy, and yes even according to Japanese, that answer is ambiguous. Perhaps the people who understand Eren’s characterization more than me, will be able to comprehend why his answered the question like that.
