We're still afloat! (TheFriendShip State of the Union)
Heya folks! Co-captain Jacob of TheFriendShip here to give you all a status update. So you may have noticed that we haven't been super active on youtube or newgrounds save for some Youmacon stuff. Well, let me fill y'all in on what;s been going on.
We're still working on animations. He actually have 2 that are in different stages of production that will most definitely be coming out within the first half of the year. That seems like something a little silly to say, but animation takes time and so does writing and perfecting a story to our tastes. Not to mention life happens.
For me personally, I've been rocking my groove through school, becoming a better writer with each class I take and becoming a better film person in general with each thing I do. But, because of an awesome collaboration in the Frederator community, I've taken it upon myself to really start learning and practicing animation to a more competent level so as to help Dave out and hopefully release some stuff on both my own channel and TheFriendShip.
By the way, YEAH. A few months ago we got picked up by Frederator online. The same Frederator that makes Fairly Odd Parents and Adventure Time. We wanted to announce such an awesome thing but, as I stated earlier, life stuff happens and it became a personal happiness between us and close friends. But hey, it's nice to finally announce that we're among an incredible group of animators and producers. Go Frederator!
Now, without going into too much detail, Dave has been working very hard on his own endeavors and thus, has had to focus more on those pursuits and less on this. But, he is not leaving, he is not quitting, he is not giving up. We'll be bringing back the goodness this year.
Before moving on, I'd like to say being able to show our last animated short, Super Aggressive Space Turtles, live for an audience at Youmacon was just awesome. It really brings a new meaning to the content and why we do it when we get to see and hear people's laughs and cheers because of what we do. We're very grateful for that opportunity. :)
Now, what does 2014 have in store? Well of course, more animations! Besides the 2 already in progress, we want to start making extremely short shorts. Stuff between 5-10 seconds long. Little bite-sized funnies. Because hey, we know you're on a diet and we want to support that with these low-calorie, full taste shorts. Plus, doing these tiny toons (hehe, throwback) will allow me, Jacob, to try my hand at animation on a smaller scale and build up. I promise to try my best at not making things look horrible. We also hope to start doing more video shorts as well. Things that would make sense for the channel.
To conclude all of this, I really want to say thank you to the friends and strangers who have encouraged us to keep making stuff and to do good in our pursuits. It really means a lot to us. We're two friends who have highs and lows in life. We struggle, we work, we push forward. And I think I can say for the both of us that we hope each piece of content we make, animation or video, brings some cheer and laughter to someone.
I've been reading a book called "The Simple Faith of Mr. Rogers" and in that book, the author recounts a story Mr. Rogers told her about a preacher who delivered an awful message, according to his seminary rules he had learned. But when he turned to his friend who came with him, she was in tears, saying that the sermon was exactly what she needed to hear. My point is, we make what we make because we think it's funny and because we want to make funny things for people. But we also hope that the funny things we make are what people need to see at that moment. To make them happy and cheerful. We wanna have fun and we want you to have fun.
