I'm excited and proud and pissed off, because the box office numbers for Iron Lung are impressive, but also disingenuous.

Gross Income is not the same as Profit.

Sam Raimi's Send Help, going into day 4, sits at 20mil, which is a net negative, 50% behind its 40mil budget.

Avatar, touted as the highest profiting film of all time, made a 237% net profit over its entire run.

The final Hxrry Pxtter movie made a 360% net profit.

Mark Fischbach's Iron Lung has turned a 570% net profit. In three days.

3mil-18mil isn't impressive on its face, next to a $500mil film making $2bn. Raw numbers are raw numbers. but for return on investment, Iron Lung is not only running with the biggest studios in the world -- it's crushing them.

To put it in simple terms, all theatrical releases have to make back AT LEAST twice what they cost to make. I say "at least," because most theatrical movies spend a fuckton on advertising, and several of them spend even more on merchandising.

Iron Lung had basically NO advertising, and a negligible amount of merchandising. For a normal movie, that means that nobody goes to see the movie because they've never heard of it, and the movie can't cover any of the lost box office revenue with merch sales (you CAN have a box office bomb recover its budget with merch sales).

A theatrical release earning back its budget and then some on nothing but word of mouth and a loyal, pre-established fanbase is unprecedented. It doesn't happen. Ever.

THAT'S why Hollywood is pissed. Because to executives, a puny internet personality self-funding a passion project with basically no advertising or merch shouldn't happen. To them, it defies all logic. They've been putting billions upon billions of dollars into advertising, merchandising, celebrity casting, huge sets, expensive CGI, and so much more; and then this "nobody" comes along and succeeds with none of that.

Gaberosene is an antagonist for Scourge, more about him beneath the cut:

Servant of the Galaras Bas, Gaberosene was the Death & Plague god’s youngest and favorite of his Court. Gab told stories, jokes and sang songs and was a proper entertainer. He was a welcome member in the court and added a much needed carelessness.

However, according to the certain records, something changed in the Jester’s heart and he began to grow discontent with his lot in life. He resented the God for his wisdom and power and growing enlightenment and sought to usurp him.

Galaras heard of his treachery before any of the Usurper’s plans could come to fruition and his court was enraged and demanded that he be put to death for treason!

But the God had compassion for him, for he was still his favorite. Instead of death, the Jester was cast out of the court, never to return.

Jester’s envy wasn’t dissuaded so easily. He waited until Galaras Bas was at his weakest, called to the living world by his faithful, and Gaberosene struck him down and crippled the God forever, though he failed to end him.

Gaberosene did not escape punishment, and Galaras’s followers doomed him in the same way he’d doomed his master. They tied his soul to a rotting throne that he will never escape.

However, it is a biased perspective… who knows if this is the truth?

I absolutely ADORED the pilot and I'm so excited to see where the story goes next! I seriously cannot get enough of the aesthetics and I cannot WAIT to see more of the world. It ticks literally like all of my boxes in terms of atmosphere and theming.

Also forgot to post Miriam’s updated ref, so just gonna put them both here lol.

Miriam’s changes are minor, mainly giving her a more built/strong bodytype and making her jacket more stylish hair coloring more obvious. I liked the blue, but I think the orange is just easier to see overall.

Bonegrease just needed less color since he's homeless as fuckkkk and was also in the underworld LOL. Really all I did was change his shirt color lol.
