Guild Hairdressers . Chelsea, London
I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship...
Being the fussy and over-privileged twenty-something I am I know what I like and dislike when it comes to hair and beauty.
On numerous occasions in my life I have sat in hairdressers holding back the tears as i see my prized locks being snipped and clipped by what seems to be a person who's sole goal for the afternoon is to ruin my next few months by giving me horrendous hair and charging me a massive fee for doing so.
BUT NOT THIS TIME! For the first time in several years I have left a hairdressers actually loving my hair and seeing the evidence they actually did what I wanted.
Being a highlight addict can be a expensive past-time and more often than not you can walk out the shop with horrendous yellowy/gingery/brassy hair. Normally because the bleach isn't left on long enough to come out of the 'yellow or orange' stage in bleaching out the dark colour. At Guild they took the time to find out what I wanted and took the time and effort to do it perfectly. The second the towel was taken off as i sat back in front of the mirror i knew it was the best colour i'd ever had - i genuinely felt like giving my colourist a hug ( hair is really quite an emotional thing for me).
Not only was the colour absolutely perfect but they had applied the foils in way (unlike the majority of salons) that meant it looked natural and followed my hairline in a complimentary way. Not the typical T-section standard malarky. Given that I have very thick hair and normally i get the feeling hairdressers just want to get it 'over and done with' once they realise it's going to be a lot of effort I was actually really touched that the time was taken to make it so perfect.
I was then shown the beautiful beauty room downstairs where I was treated like absolute royalty and was given a facial and shown how to apply my make-up. I have always prided myself on being good with makeup and refuse to take advise from many people as I feel they don't know better than me - yes, arrogant i realise. I feel like my eyes were opened to a whole new world! I was taught how to use contouring to make my face look slimmer and healthier and it actually looked incredible. If anyone needs to look beautiful for the dreaded Valentines day then going for a make-up session here is actually an investment on how to do makeup well for this day and the rest of your life.
It was chic, professional, friendly and bang on trend in terms of the services they offer.
Not gunna lie.. I'm a little bit in love with it..
it's a 2 minute walk from the Bluebird where you can bask in your new-found beauty over a delicious coffee or a cheeky glass of wine.
