are you and vox in a relationship?? of any kind/ whats ur relationship dynamic
vox:
are you and val in a relationship?? of any kind/ whats ur relationship dynamic
(asked seperatly bc i wanna see what their answers are individually without the others influence)
Due to the nature of your request, I made sure to forward this individually to the two. - Vox's Assistant, Ethan.
From Valentino:
we dont really have a label or anything~ its open, its hot, and its all very on again off again- which is... fine. its ‘off again’ right now, btw, maybe until he sorts his shit out. idk how long thats gonna take tho
shit, he doesnt really like talking about it to the public… or like, at all. ummm just pretend you didnt hear this 🥰
From Vox:
Val and I are... business partners. You seem to have some misconceptions. We’ve worked together for years, so of course we’re… close.
Vox, "honey", " baby," I am going to hold you GENTLY BY THE SCREEN when I say this!
AIN'T ANY MAN AN ISLAND!
That includes The Deer!
Maybe you just don't know him as well as you thought you did? 🤔
Wh- he- you say Alastor would rely on other people. Alastor. After grandstanding to me, going on and on about how pathetic I am for having any kind of help?? Needling me for 70 YEARS?? The FUCK??
Ha… hahaha… The fucking HYPOCRISY he’d have to have to work with other people after EVERYTHING he’s said to me. Everything he’s stood for. Even at that shitty hotel, I know he’s only in it for himself.
No. I don’t-I don’t need anyone. Even now, I can prove myself, on my own. And clearly, you don’t know Alastor like I do.

I ended up writing a really long comment on a video essay someone wrote about the differences between Alastor and Vox (it's pretty good, I recommend), and thought that might as well edit it a bit and repost it here, as a little piece of analysis.
There’s a difference between Alastor and Vox that I think is really interesting in the context of what the show says about bonds between people.
Namely, Vox is capable of forming genuine relationships with people - Alastor is not. Now, I want to stress that I said FORMING, not really maintaining them. It makes them both more interesting, I think, because while Alastor overally holds a moral high ground over Vox (Alastor has a moral code – Vox is willing to do anything to further his agenda), that's the one good quality Vox has over him, the capacity for vulnerability.
It isn't shown super well in the show just by itself, but if you were also following the promo materials, like the original IG in character accounts and the recent promo in the form of the VoxTech site with Valentino's drawing stream on it, you’d see that the Vees aren't just business partners. They're roommates. A friend group. Not the BEST friend group, god, no, but a friend group nonetheless. They enjoy each other's company, they care about each other. Vox sincerely likes Velvette and Valentino - (in the promo) he makes sure that Val is eating, (in the show) he jumps in front of them when they might be in danger (when Vaggie is pointing a spear at Velvette and in the fight with Alastor). That's why I think his offer of partnership to Alastor was sincere, and the rejection hurt him on a very human level. It had since twisted into something obsessive and ugly, but it wasn't always like this. Vox craves human connections. He doesn't come into every relationship with the goal of using other people as stepping stones - but then he does it anyway, he just can't help himself. Because he's a pathetic, needy void of insecurities he's trying to fill by any means necessary.
Alastor, on the other hand, is NOT capable of vulnerability. Moreover, he sees it as a weakness. All of his relationships are about control, either strictly based on give and take or have him holding all of the cards. Alastor doesn't have a single friend with whom he stands on equal footing - he seemed to be close with Rosie, but it has since been revealed that it's a relationship that he intended to be a give and take one (that unfortunately backfired for him), Mimzy seems to only ever use him for favors, he obviously owns Husk's soul. He seems to genuinely like and care for Nifty - he kept the crown she gave him - but he's still the one in control in this relationship. His "not"friendship with Vox seemed to be the only exception to this rule - he says he considered them to be almost equals. And it looks like he really liked Vox in the past - his smile is relaxed, so are his ears, a rare occurrence, he was comfortable around him enough to allow taking that photo, something he nowadays NEVER does. He doesn't protest to Vox saying that they've been close, to the "people love us", he takes in stride Vox touching him, despite not liking it, while still staying relaxed. But he rejects the partnerships. And, sure, a part of it can be because Alastor understand what Vox ultimately IS, a parasite, who will inevitably try to use and replace him. But a part of it is fear of vulnerability. Because no matter how Vox might screw him over in the future, then he was sincerely looking for a connection. And that distresses Alastor. His reaction seems fake, too overblown and he's tugging at his hair, something we've seen him do previously in moments when he's especially upset. To me, it reads as Alastor purposefully pushing Vox away because he realizes he got to close to something genuine, vulnerable - weak.
And that's why when Vox was being his worst, most destructive, delusional self, he still had the other Vees stopping and essentially saving him. Because, let's be real, brutal as it was to tear his head of, this was NOT a betrayal. It was an intervention.
Alastor, on the other hand? Nobody is looking for him in the ruins of the Hotel after the 1st season's finale. Nobody is trying to save him from being imprisoned by Vox. When he nearly dies, there's no one who would check on him.
I mean, I get that you're like a deer and all so I guess one could assume it's that... but you know what they say about assumptions!

Well, dear! You’re quite right about assumptions. A few of the patrons here at the hotel have asked me whether the animal that I resemble is my favorite one, but I digress…
The fauna here in hell is vastly different than the ones om earth, but if you had to ask me what animal I’d like to see again it would be the red-bellied woodpecker. The forest was abundant with it back when I was alive. It’s quite calming listening to them chirp, especially after an adrenaline rush. By the way! You’re my first ask.
Congratulations! And thank you for keeping up with my blog. I hope you keep up with my broadcast as well 😁. Unfortunately I only share them on radio. I wouldn’t give this miniature picture box the satisfaction of being my secondary form of media.
