CHAIN OF IRON SPOILER

I’m afraid I won’t be able to upload any other spoilery scenes too soon here, since I can’t really crop them (and I wanted to wait a bit since for some people the book hasn’t been published yet :( )

But with this one I felt a bit safer, since I’ve started sketching it even before Chain of Iron was out, and been more inspired by the teaser cards @cassandraclare published on her account by Cassandra Jean  ✨ (so it can be not 100% accurate)

Y'all I get a really vivid book deja vu when I look at this piece - I'm always reminded of Master of One since I was listening to it while assembling this, especially the Moon's Road pattern. (A lot of my papercrafts are paired with book deja vu's!) I think this has also been my tiniest papercraft characters to date. 🧐 Emma's face alone is about the size of my pinky fingernail, when usually they're about twice that size!

Whaaa I really loved reading TDA for the first time this year! It's nestled right in my favorite fantasy genre type: Between urban and high fantasy. I must admit I've only read the first few paragraphs of QoAaD, and immediately had to put it on my hostage pile, because I'm not ready for a certain person to wake up yet. 😭 I will get to it soon though...

A tale of two kelpies . . .

@cassandrajp and I got to talking today about various flower cards, and how it was funny that there was a flower that meant "spleen" (anger.) She asked about the kelpie from Queen of Air and Darkness. I explained:

Me: He's much angrier than Pickles. His name is Jarog the Enraged, and he stole Pickles' rightful place as heir to the kelpie throne. That's why Pickles drinks.

Cassandra Jean: I must illustrate this kelpie drama!

So here you have it: Pickles and his nemesis, Jarog. Will Claribella's love save Pickles from a kelpie war? Will Jarog fall in love with Claribella, thus precipitating a kelpie love triangle? Who can say?
