Hi, welcome to my little corner of the internet that is my tumblr blog! You can call me Jack Jack, JJ & JQ. 18+ years old | Multifandom Call Sign: Fangirl
Blood, sweat and tears is the classic saying they use for a certain occasion like this one, of course.
As Amelia, for one hand, didn’t think she’ll live past 20, with how her life shifted once joining SHIELD.
She was pretty sure she would’ve died out there.
Booms, hits, punches, escapes and falls.
Guns, explosives, arrows and even enchanted elements were involved.
Screams, cries and moments where she just wanted to quit came to mind.
Strongly so.
But she decided to try and toughen it out. Even if tears were her main source of release and the choice to run has come in many applications.
If her father was a good agent and her mother was a rebellious entrepreneur, then maybe she had a shot of testing the waters herself?
And Amelia did.
No coffee or drinking required.
She wasn’t traditionally made into an agent like the other ones, as she was placed in divisions for training, under Bobbi and Hunter, meeting agents old and new——but there was no pure traditional training.
She even came across some heroes, young and old, who walked among the hallways.
She was tossed in between The Academy of Communication and Operations. One was the less aggressive program, obviously. You can probably guess which one it was.
However it allowed her to interact with the other divisions, such as Sci-Tech, which is where she met Agent Melissa Wallace, Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons. Meanwhile Operations was where she crossover to stumble into Agent Cho Ji-Hoon.
Which led to other characters falling into her row of agents.
Ward.
Maybe it was Grant Ward’s protectiveness, charm, fierce and stern behavior. Maybe it was the way that Ward treated her like she belonged and how he actually cared for his team underneath all the layers.
But she got him to smile.
And he got her to laugh.
A few saves were exchanged as well.
She only got to be apart of the team alongside Bobbi and Hunter, as Coulson chose to recruit them as a trio.
Coulson knew that Bobbi would most likely vouch for Hunter and Amelia to get on board, as he accepted them into his wheelhouse of agents.
It was a large set by the time they joined in.
As much as Amelia was hesitant to follow them into the new environment, she found herself a small within the world that was built in that facility.
A home, she dare say.
Yet, Amelia met Grant before that.
He called her ‘Ames’.
She called him ‘Grant’.
While everyone chose to call him by his last name, she didn’t. In response, he chose to not use a formal name for her either.
He was the first man to take her on a date.
Ever.
The classic bouquet of flowers, brunch and a scroll among the park. There was a certain thing that she adored and certain things that were ignored on his end.
So when the news broke that he was HYDRA she had mixed feelings, especially knowing that she led him towards Skye and most of all, let herself get so close.
She couldn’t compared or comprehend such a thing.
Yes, she could justify that the reason Ward kills, isn’t cause he doesn’t care, but because he cares too much.
But the betrayal hurt.
It stung.
And as expected, Amelia did shed a few tears.
Ward exchanged his own reasoning, apologies for hurting her, whenever she was told to receive information from him in the basement.
Amelia did wonder if Grant took advantage of her feelings and skills, while he’ll tell her that he didn’t. He knew it wouldn’t be right, as for the longest time, he wanted something for himself.
Whatever he felt, that she exchanged, was real.
He really did care.
She simply nodded.
Let’s just say, Grant Ward left a mark on many people.
Amelia was, of course, one of them.

MARCH 31.
That was a significant date within the records.
Coulson assigned a demented sized group—including, Sadie, Michelle, Ji-Hoon, Amelia and Nikolai—among others to relocate to Havana for search for an unstable energy source.
An artifact.
An orb standing a brown table-like piece with claws sitting out of it.
According to the picture.
The text they received remarked how the orb was typical source of enhancement. Increasing defense, strength and or speed.
Modification.
Whatever the user’s desire.
Sometimes deemed as to what the orb could contain from its environment.
There was an unsure and unsteady conclusion as to what they were walking into.
She wasn’t exactly ready for.
While they packed, Amelia glanced every down and then at Nikolai, who was calming play with a shadow in the midst of conversation with a fellow agent.
He tended to use his abilities every so often.
He glanced over his shoulder every once in a while, before clearing his throat to head to his room. She waved at him, giving a smile at the moment. He bit back a smirk, shaking his head.
Nikolai and Amelia met a few months prior, as Coulson paired them up, resulting in a mission on the beachside while they spent their time inside a van, on the beach to scan their sources and enjoy the snacks.
Nikolai was closed off, guarded and self-aware, behaving a tad grumpy. Amelia was unsure, rather tired and uncomfortable, while trying to lighten the mood.
It wasn’t until she cracked an expected line, something that didn’t mean to be a joke——that he chuckled brightly.
Being a light on the darkness day.
That’s what she became to Nikolai.
It also helped that she took a bullet for him, leaving the young man to short-circuit and lash out, calling her foolish, among other words.
No one has ever done something like for him before.
She was the first.
Amelia claimed, that everyone desires a chance to try, even if she didn’t. It was like something shifted that afternoon, when she woke up from recovery, a softness and a line of respect was formed between them.
Nikolai brought flowers that next morning and a movie to watch together, as Amelia squeezed his hand and rubbed his knuckles in exchanged.
He was clearly touched starved.
She was clearly on the other side of that spectrum.
Cut to many hours later, everyone was in separate areas of the island—in and out of the caves—making sure no enemies came into the perimeter to recover the items.
Hunter, Michelle and Sadie fought off enemy who ran in steal the artifact.
Others were above the hole and tunnels securing the spot such as, Nikolai, Coulson and Bobbi. Meanwhile agents, Amelia and Ji-Hoon, were down below the tunnels within the cave searching for the orb.
Everyone was split up.
However they found it, lowly glowing a soft hum.
Amelia and Ji-Hoon found themselves catching the energy readings as unstable, according to the tech that they were provided.
A rumbling happens from above the caves, as Coulson’s voice ran for them to pull out, as quickly as possible.
Comms crackling as Ji-Hoon removed his gloves trying to freeze it, while Amelia hesitates, holding the gloves and lighting the flashlight.
Coulson’s voice wasn’t heard as they began to watch the walls rumbling, stone crackling as pieces well, and dust began to fill the air.
As Ji-Hoon held the orb in a frosted ball, keeping the cold air out and the warm air, Amelia grabbed his arm to run across the caves.
In the midst of running, things collapses and pieces fell, making them trip against the walls. The orb slipped out the container and crackled rolling towards the middle.
Ji-Hoon shouted for them to take cover, running and trying to create a wall of ice in time——but it was too late.
The energy surged as a blinding light, shockwaves began to capture the halls it collapses.
And Amelia with it.
The sound drops out, a ringing and a faint scream was all Amelia heard left.
The dust settled outside the cave, rumbling softened and the comms static with nose, as many agents go still. Bobbi blinks, Coulson shouts over the radio and Nikolai tries to go back in once no response was heard.
Ji-Hoon couldn’t seem to find her, with no response, clearing how she gone, coughing under the rubble.
Amelia however was pinned, barely conscious and breathing unevenly, thinking that this is how she goes out.
This is how it ends.
There was a faint glow shining in her eyes as her eyes tried to flicker open, then close. A sense of vibration from the energy score mere feet away from her.
The orb.
She tries to move, gasping for air shaking her gaze to the side, as she slowly rolled onto her knees to sit up. But she just flopped back down to her side, pushing herself upwards, as she panicked.
Her breathing spiked, noting the pressure, pain and fear at being surrounded by the damage.
Suddenly a pause rippled as her hand twitches, as a small wave bounces as underneath her palm. She was more dizzy than anything else, as her eyes rolled back.
The next time she awakens, she’s wrapped in a blanket within a bed, an IV plugged to hand, as her veins on her arms were too small and dried to find a good one.
The more she looked around, the soft sound of beep from the monitors, the shifting of the bed, footsteps of nurses and fellow agents of the team wander around.
Some of them entered and others didn’t say a word.
They were arguing about the recent mission gone wrong.
Ji-Hoon, Melissa, Nikolai, Bobbi, Coulson and others who decided to join the conversation.
A box with a soft door, a slide in cabinet and other equipment surrounded her.
She was under surveillance.
Isolated slightly.
She was confused, scared and shaking, as she looked down at her fingertips. She sniffled as tears pricked her eyes.
“Wait…” She uttered, breathing deeply, getting up from the bed and stumbling onto her feet. She crumbled and kneeled against the bed. “Guys..?”
But they didn’t listened until one of them heard a clattered of a fallen piece of equipment. Melissa gasped in relief that she was awake and so did Bobbi.
Ji-Hoon huffed, meeting her gaze, as he seemed to recently been released from surveillance himself. Scars, cuts and chill blue fingertips were seen on his end.
Nikolai moved against the tables and opened the door, using his shadow, ignoring a call for him, sending a glare to the group. He kneeled in front of Amelia and helped to lift her off the ground.
She wrapped an arm around his neck and buried her face in his shoulder. He pulled her into an embrace, wrapping his arms around her waist.
“Hey, hey, love..” He greeted her, as she met his gaze, “You gave us quite a scare.”
She nodded, blinking away a couple of tears, “What happened?”
He explained how she blacked out, finding her unconscious and there was a small imprint from the orb.

— in which the Parker siblings children took two different paths.
Richard Parker and his brother Benjamin Parker were two of the first set of siblings who volunteered to be SHIELD agents. Richard went towards the line of scientific research and experimentation. His brother, Benjamin, went onto do the line of operations and studies in the area of behavioral development.
In others cases, fieldwork while the other brother preferred the laboratory.
Even if they both had stepped in and out of their respective roles to crossover to other departments.
It’s where Richard met his beloved wife, Mary, who worked with recovery and rehabilitation programs. Cute, huh?
Benjamin however? He didn’t meet Maybelle Reilly until after the first half hour of a rescue operation, a mission on a cruise ship.
Maybelle was on of the passengers on board for the weekend when enemy pirates sabotage the vessel to invade a server data collection.
A meeting between two parties.
It was to identify a target who was undercover. Maybelle and other innocent individuals were panicked when SHIELD came in.
Benjamin was tasked with identifying the room where the passengers were held hostage to witness such a situation.
That’s when he untied Maybelle.
“Maybelle. But you can call me, May.” She whispered after the night was clear out.
He nods whispering in response, “Benjamin, but they tend to call me Agent Parker.”
“I like Ben.”
“Good to know.”
The two started seeing each other in private and taking turns visiting the other in New York.
That’s when he learned that May was an employee at a shelter, dedicating her time to helping the underprivileged in the city.
Even some medical staff visited the shelter to help everyone there.
Soon enough, Benjamin would resign as an agent of sorts after a long time working at SHIELD.
He has burnt, bruised and broken bones, even bled from accidents across missions.
He enjoyed the thrill, weaponry, friendship and service he brought to bringing the world one step further to safety.
But he also enjoyed the freedom to express himself and not worry about being shot at every opportunity he faced.
After much discussion, Fury huffed and let him go to civilian duty.
Civilian duty was the life Ben chose, working as a supervisor for a warehouse, while getting to transport supplies to the organization May worked for.
Of course, that dynamic turned into labors of love and respect, mixing up a new life in the process.
Their daughter Amelia.
— 🎶 —
As a few short years later, Richard and Mary had welcomed their son Peter.
While one child became the web slinging traumatic hero with a kind heart, getting himself into trouble consistently.
The other, at the young age of 17, barely survived to young adulthood, the sane agency who agreed to take a step back from the Parker family, chose otherwise.
Mary and Richard passed away together on a plane midway through a mission, Ben would come to pass some time later in the following years.
They couldn’t touch Peter.
He had nothing to say against them.
Amelia on the other side of the fence? Her father walked away when the ball was still in his court.
Even if Fury tried to throw a new opportunity for one last mission, when Amelia was only 8 years old to Benjamin.
In fact he did it, just to get it done and in hopes of Fury getting the result he wanted. But most importantly, to not be called back in again,
Cut to many years later, Amelia would be faced with a similar fate.
One of Fury’s associates, Mockingbird, offered a six week trial period that would be extended to 6 months, if it went well. All free paid expenses, time spent on school work and friends, a regular meal or two, and a space to rest.
May was hesitant, like any good mother should, but Bobbi reassured her that it would be fine and that she’d be taken care of by her specifically. Well, her and her fiancé and fellow agent, Lance Hunter.
With Ben gone, Peter in school and keeping an organized up float, May bit her lip before agreeing to take a chance on Bobbi. She had much discussion with Amelia about it, beforehand, of course.
In which, the girl was in the slightest bit excited to do it.
Yes, sure, it’s cool in movies and television to see something like this operating on a scale away from her own physical reality. But in real life? No wires or stunt men to do work for you? She was terrified and terrible at it.
May, like always made a good argument, as her child reluctantly agreed to give it a try. If she hated it? She’ll leave.
Like any person, starting something new Amelia struggled to follow along to Mockingbird, Bobbi Morse, lead. She’ll trip, fall, and misfire whenever she did something. She’ll huff, get frustrated and compare herself to the other students, younger and older than her. Amelia will sit down and hug herself, holding back any tears, despite them slipping out anyway.
She had no core courage, strength and belief in herself to go further.
She lost her father.
She lost friends and been bullied for being considered the weird shelter girl.
She lost a large connection to her cousin, as he was growing up and wanted to do his own thing.
She lost moments with her mother, due to her being busy and all.
Yes, May was smart, vibrant, nurturing and a resilient woman, so strong. After losing dad, she took on more hours, while trying to be supportive, firm and loving towards her babies. Her and her cousin Peter.
She sorta envy her mother for being so strong.
She could never live up to that.
She didn’t go out much, she didn’t buy into hanging out with others outside of school and nor did she push herself to try new things.
She wasn’t good with grades, she wasn’t the most smartest in certain aspects and she wasn’t the target of affection for anyone outside of her family. So, she didn’t present herself like it.
Why try?
She liked her bubble——no, she loved it.
And here stood Bobbi, in workout clothes, wanting to push her, to see what she was capable of.
Bobbi saw past the views, in which Amelia saw, and wanted to see if she was right.
She had the soft skills to do so—Bobbi seen it and heard it from May—from communication to empathy.
All Amelia wanted to do was cry and drown herself in anything else, but this.
It was exciting and thrilling in the beginning, hearing about this process and all sorts of things she could do.
But now?
She wanted any chance to back out.
Maybe it was the grief and self loathing talking, but she was just sad, frustrated and craving herself moments that she found relief.
— 🎶 —
Bobbi decided to leave her alone for a moment, after a round on the mat and the punching bag shining in the corner. Amelia sat down by the window, scrolling on her tablet finding music, ranging from different genres until a few songs changed her tone.
She stood up, tightening up her sneakers and plug in her headphones.
Timberland’s The Way I Are.
It put her in a better mood as she began dancing.
Amelia did a few kick ball changes, a reebok, a bart simpson and stick & rolls. Of course, while she danced, she spun around and did a heel step. Mainly basic-in-place.
It got to a point when she slipped onto the floor, knocking on her side, as her body made impact with the wooden plates. She laid on her side, getting a peek of the mirror from the angle as she ached from the surprise.
She cocked her head to the side as the next song zero in, huffing as she bench forwards remaining on her knees. She crawled over, turning up the volume as she bounced on her knee and shaking her head side to side.
She pretended to point at someone as her hip thrust, falling onto her back, letting out a breath, singing the lyric. The song changed once more. Her lips syncing turn into whisper yells in a mixture of fierceness and feminine position.
She stood up to find herself spun once more, huffing and puffing, suddenly snapping her head to notice a figure standing in the corner watching her.
“I um..sorry I just..” Amelia stammered, pushing hair out of her face.
“No need. How about we put that energy into the punching bag over there?”
“B—Bobbi, it’s not the same, it’s..”
“Just try it.”
Bobbi spent the next few moments guiding and posting her stance correctly, facing the bag. Knees bent, legs slightly apart, as one foot was pointed towards the bag, hands curled, and shoulders slightly raised.
She took a breath, standing behind the bag for support, making sure it didn’t shift and remained steady.
With a huff of hesitation, due to the motion of the next song, it gave Amelia the confidence to imagine she was somewhere else. She chose her spot, thought of her current emotions and made contact with the punching bag. A thick thunk returned from the impact.
Hit after hit, she huffed an exhaled, her gloves hit the bag, not as rough as an full adult, but it made an effort.
A scream was let out of Amelia’s senses as thought about her sadness and pain, while tears escaped within the hits she landed.
The punches lessen slightly, as her forehead touched the bag instead, hiccups of sob as she tried to explain. She kept uttering ‘I’m sorry’ for her blubbering.
Bobbi stopped her hits, grabbing her wrists, ushering to hush her weeping self. Amelia’s head rested against the taller woman’s chest, sniffling while Bobbi pulled her into an embrace.
“I’m sorry..” Amelia said taking a shaky breath. “I want to be strong..but I ain’t..I’m not..I tried to act like none of this gets to me..but..”
Bobbi lifted her face in her hands and allowed her thumbs to brush away any upcoming tears.
“It hurts..I can only imagine losing someone you love so much and not being able tell anyone outside of family…and having to behave like everything is fine..” Bobbi began reassure her. “I read about your father, Ben, and his brother Richard..I’m sorry for your loss. But..I feel like light inside you and a nature he always had..”
But she also needed to be herself.
“Why do you see the best in me?” Amelia uttered, quietly.
“Cause you don’t.” Bobbi answered softly.

——
—
As time went on, the years that followed, Amelia slowly gained moments of confidence as she used music as a motivation, while Bobbi did her best to showcase her basic skills whenever she wasn’t busy.
Due to her young stature, Bobbi had to go to a limit and wait for her to catch up. Even catch Amelia when she almost fainted from exhaustion and dehydration.
There was an obvious struggle in her step.
But Bobbi and May did their best to encourage her, while still, giving her the chance to opt out whenever she wants.
Of course, when she wasn’t messing around during those six weeks with Bobbi, she had her normal life, which consisted of homework, classes and remaining at the apartment doing chores.
She barely went out, unless it was for groceries with her mother, May, and Peter, so she had no worry about hanging out with friends outside of school.
“I keep busy..” She’ll utter, whenever someone, like a classmate ask her what she did on her free time.
Which meant, watching movies & tv, scrolling online and heading to her closet to try out different outfits.
She mainly danced in her room or sang whatever song was stuck in her head.
Her mom did tell her, that she could invite friends over, if she liked.
Her response?
A look of disgust and a soft scoff at the idea.
“No.”
She’ll reply, as her eyes shifted between her and the room.
It’s not that she didn’t want to, well, yeah, she didn’t want friends over. Period. They’re meant to stay in the school premise, not outside of it.
Having to interact with them outside of class?
Oh, no.
Never gonna happen.
Even at SHIELD?
She was the same exact way.
And she was perfectly content with that.
Students and young recruits went on to hangout outside of base, but she didn’t.
Well, it is true, the oldest child has a harder time making friends, than the younger one. So, that tracks between her and Peter.
He had Ned, Harry and others.
In and out of school settings.
She had..no one.
And she didn’t mind it.
She rather not be trying to perform, express and or feed into other people’s interest just to satisfy their wants, in order for them to be friends with her.
She wasn’t a circus act.
And this wasn’t a business deal.
Unless, she was getting paid?
Then that’s a whole different story.
If she had to be honest, aside from school and home life?
She was sorta taking interest in being at SHIELD.
She believes it was mainly Bobbi and Hunter’s presences.
She wasn’t the biggest fan of Maria Hill though.
So uptight.
Reminded her of that assistant principal who catches students in the hallway and rough around the edges.
Maybe Hill didn’t like her either?
She couldn’t tell.
That wasn’t the main point, as to why she was here anyway.
Amelia was put in this position due to her father’s past with SHIELD, not the other way around.
She didn’t care for Fury, knowing he was stoic, smart and skilled——yet there was a stern coldness to him. It was smart. It scared her.
Lance Hunter and Bobbi Morse?
She actually enjoy more than she’ll care to admit.
It was having a second set of parents.
Bobbi was patient, observant, not overly soft but intentional.
Hunter, her ex-husband, was roguish, charming, and sarcastic yet reckless.
Yes, they were married.
And despite the fact that they were divorced, they still loved one another.
It was a highlight of Amelia’s week seeing them bicker.
There was a willingness and dedication in what they do, even if they seem to sometimes hurt each other with their words, at times.
Makes sense how Amelia got a sliver of her personality from.
From them.
Even if her mother, May Parker, was street-smart and deeply supportive, while remaining a compassionate yet strong presence.
Amelia had a mix of Bobbi and Hunter in her as well.
Odd.

Character Statement — 🔓
A man who learned that saving a life doesn’t always happen in the OR.
Sometimes, it’s in the way you listen. Or the joke you tell. Or the time you stay a little longer.
Personality — 📞
August is soft but bright and actually brilliant if you give him the opportunity to showcase it. Yes, he’s quieter than most other players in the game but when he’s speaks, people do listen. Not only that, he’s witty, sarcastic, compassionate and considerate. However half of the time he is confused or completely unaware of the fact he has no idea what is going on. Usually, he’s very friendly and focused though.
He’s not the type to brag, but when he casually name-drops an obscure procedure or quotes a rare study, everyone suddenly turns their heads like: ‘Wait—what did Ridley just say?’
He has a good heart, so if he’s grieving but still tries to be hopeful.
He knows what it’s like to lose someone and still have to smile the next day. He knows what it’s like to love again with shaky hands. Even if it hurts so badly, where it feels like your heart is going to physically be broken.
That’s what makes him good — not just as a doctor, but as a person.
He’s a hopeful romantic at times. Makes sense he found himself dating a few girls over the years. Even after heartbreak, he wears his heart just under the surface — not on his sleeve, but close enough that the right person might catch a glimpse.
He’s most definitely the type to crack jokes in crisis situations. Not just that, he’s awkward yet charming with a smile that you cannot quite describe. Even so, he’s very nerdy when it comes to movies and shows he has seen.
Marvel, Star Wars, DC Comics, Glee, Heroes, and etc.
In the earlier years, August used to be the kind of guy who’ll compare your relationship dynamic to a Marvel duo and then shyly change the subject like he didn’t just make your heart explode.
When it comes to music? You best believe August will be playing a bunch of different songs on his phone while in the Operating Room or in the car. Don’t judge him!
Colleagues know he’s about to start a long surgery the moment they hear the music playing in the background. He claims it keeps his hands steady. No one argues.
— — —
Backstory — 🗞️
August grew up in what he calls a loving home. A father who was an attorney and a mother who was a doctor. His older sister was a wannabe fashion designer with a strong dream of becoming a mother and his brother chose to go into business.
His father, Andrew, wanted at least one of his children to become an attorney like himself because he knew it would be a good career choice. His mother, Margaret, wanted to make sure her children were able to have dreams and to have aspirations in life.
Even if they were the smallest thing.
Every single of the kids were incredibly creative and compassionate when it came to personality traits, but August was the most dazzling one in that category. The boy grew up singing in his room and painting his favorite things.
He was sure he would be an artist. That was until one of his cousins , April, announced that she wanted to be a doctor like her aunt, Margret, August’s mom. More specifically, a surgeon.
August didn’t believe April one bit and thought she was completely bluffing. Everyone figured April was more fitted to be a baker or something. But April wanted to see what she could do, as August stood up and told her that he bet that even he could become a doctor.
Was it a challenge? Was it a bet? Was it a matter of getting under April’s radar or something else?
All August knew that it was a gamble to make sure that he would see April fulfill that announcement. August himself, never thought of being in the medical profession, dealing with patients and seeing the gores of the human body wasn’t his dream job.
Yes of course, August has always been clever, kindhearted and protective of those he cared for, despite his temper and lack of organization. Hell, he’s the same kid who will make his friends and family members feel alright, leaving himself as the last person to check up on.
Time went on, as he got older, August looked into careers. He began auditioning for singing chances, crafting his profile filled with drawings and painting for future reviews and such. The dude even thought he could consider voice acting too!
But the nagging visual of April starting to study and assembling a bunch of stuff for her medical school came into August view. He tried to ignore it, focusing on his own life and not think about it too often.
But for whatever reason, something sparked in August to try it. His siblings already knew what they wanted to do in life, meanwhile he was floating around with no idea what his future would be.
Cut to a few years later, studying and shadowing seasoned teachers, August came to Settle Grace to intern his first year. To say, it would change his life was an insult to the experiences he had been through.
Interned by Miranda Bailey, meeting his young and older colleagues such as Lexie Grey, Owen Hunt, Callie Torres, Alex Karev, just to name a couple. He shadowed Arizona Robbins for a while.
And when Jackson and his cousin, April, transformed over from Mercy West some time later? Things changed drastically as the group grew.
Those years, August felt as though he was having imposter syndrome, this was never his original intention to be a doctor but he did the work to barely pass the tests and get himself a white lab coat with his own ID.
He had patients test his nerves, questioning his ability to even sew up their wounds and listen to them, suggesting how they wanted a more accurate description of a doctor. Not a pretty boy who looked like he was waiting for his prom night.
He would get days where he was yelled at, shouted to go run errands instead of rounds, racing to get a shot at watching an surgery, get removed from someone’s service and get placed in another.
There was a moment he froze during his first ever round of assisting someone during a general surgery. The patient was bleeding out from their side, as August forgot everything he had watched, as Bailey told him to step aside and let somebody else step in.
Hell, the man wanted to quit after a fight with the attendings and lower level players! He was ready to stay the whole day in an on-call room and ignore everyone, or straight up go home.
Then August would have the opposite reactions, single moms hitting on him or old ladies complimenting his hair, children in the pediatric ward wanting him to stay in their hospital room a little longer to just chat and even seeing good news appreciated by the families.
Doing a surgery with a fellow doctor he felt comfortable with, having music playing in the background, the conversations and minor complications from the patient being a relief to August. He just needed someone to take the time to listen and help him out with what he couldn’t comprehend or communicate himself.
Moments like that made him feel like a good doctor. It was kindness, effort, and tiny glimpses of purpose that kept him going.
It wasn’t the surgeries or the occasional physical pain, it was the constant smile on the faces of those around him. Yeah, sure, it was cliché to say, but it made him feel like he was doing something right.

Area Of The Medical Field — 🩻
When August first started out he had no clue what specific area of expertise he would like.
Cardio, Plastics or Pediatric Care?
It helped that he was put under Yang or Teddy, Sloan and Robbins services as the years went on.
He REALLY considered PEDs cause of his friendship with Arizona and he adored the tiny humans, from babies to teenagers. He gets teased by the nurses because kids legit ask for Dr. Phin instead.
But he also loved watching a heart transplant surgery happen with Teddy and learned about the heart.
Hell, he found it fun and kinda awkward having a dynamic in Plastics with Mark Sloan and Jackson. Hell, Mark called them The Plastics Posse! Not everyday you get to give a lady a big ass or examine the bridge of someone’s nose.
— Soon enough he realized that if he chose PEDs, he would get to still work on kids' hearts, bones and other organs. Not just that, choosing Plastics, meant he still got to make people feel better about themselves physically and mentally.
Imagine how he acted when he saw someone write down this on his chart -> August Ridley, Specialist in Reconstructive Pediatric Surgery with Cardiothoracic Elements. 🗞️
To this day, he believes that’s a mouthful and an unbelievably wild idea.
However -> Once Mark had left and Jackson decided to keep the plastic community alive, August moved onto pediatric care for the chance to work with Arizona instead.

AUGUST TO THE SEASON 19 INTERNS — 🎤
“Look. Theses are tiny humans with smaller organs than regular sized drunken men. Theses are kids who go to the movie theaters to watch their favorite characters shine, imagine that they are badass superheroes, and princesses who have talking animals as friends. These are parents who don’t want their ears that don’t make them look all weird and have issues in the future. These parents have so much love and compassion for their children, that they just want what’s best for them. This isn’t about what surgeries you will get or who is better than everyone else. Or trying to beat your colleagues! This is about teamwork and hoping for the best outcome!”
Season 19 — 🩺
August’s grown. He’s got the experience. The hands. The respect.
But when Simone Griffith freezes in the OR, every trauma, every mistake, every “step aside, Ridley!” yells back in his memory.
And instead of yelling at her?
🩵 He pauses.
🩵 He breathes.
🩵 He offers what no one offered him back then: Grace. Support. Understanding.
“Take a breath. Think. Ask Lucas if you need help.”
Simone? Doesn’t fall apart.
She rises.
August? He smiles.
