Absolutely fascinated by Ryan Guzman’s (correct) belief that Eddie is entirely unaware of the romantic undertones that are peppered through his relationship with Buck. Or he’s not exactly unaware, but all those pieces of pepper are individual details and he can’t see the bigger picture, like putting a puzzle together while only looking at the pieces but not at what he’s got so far. He’s too naive to put things together. He’s never once considered it. If Buck were to confess to him, he’d be genuinely shocked. And Buck won’t, of course, confess, because if Buck is in love with Eddie, that’d break all the rules he’s set for this relationship. So Buck is ignoring the elephant in the room and Eddie is so zoomed in on specific parts of the elephant that he doesn’t even know it’s an elephant. He thinks that microscopic view of maybe-skin-or-an-iris is normal best friendship. Buck is “I’m not in love with Eddie obviously but if i was i wouldn’t be able to care about that rn bc I have a job and it would ruin the friendship rules I mentally gave us if he knew”. A lebanese person tweeted today why should they lose their home and die because americans wont do anything about their president and I really internalized that. Because we keep seeing these posts about the resilience of the lebanese people but this is not resilience this is people being continuously invaded for israels desire to colonize their region. Why are there so many actor award shows by God these people love their little trophies

I think it's so they feel like they're contributing more to society than they really are. Hear me out. I think the arts are valuable and all, but Hollywood is a rich nepobaby playground. During covid we saw that celebrities really aren't that important. In summer 2020, I was getting existential about the futility of becoming a lawyer because we needed doctors to fight the pandemic but even that's more important than an actor who gets paid to play pretend. Doctors don't have award shows. Lawyers don't have award shows. Scientists don't have award shows. Social workers don't have award shows. Good parents don't have award shows. Architects and construction workers don't have award shows. The most important jobs get the least credit. When society was collapsing, we needed doctors and politicians the most, not actors or cops (acab).

So. I think there are all these award shows to 1) make rich actors feel important and 2) distract us with big beautiful gowns so we don't eat the billionaires or question the genocides funded by our tax dollars

you see the thing is i don't think speaking about this show's treatment of women Especially in comparison to men is dooming or hating or an inability to enjoy things. i think it's actually an important conversation we should be having and not waving away with, Well they might fix it at some point down the line! i don't think pointing out that in the last couple of years 911 has dismissed the racism and misogyny of not one but Two white male characters, and has villainised and sidelined women of colour and mentally ill women, is a bad thing actually. in the past two years 911 has completely dismissed both tommy's and gerrard's racism and misogyny that was central to both hen and chim's begins to the point that it felt like they were actively gaslighting the audience. has perpetuated stigma around mentally ill people Particularly mentally ill women. has killed off a woman for seemingly zero reason with zero mention of it since. and has sidelined a woman in favour of her brother instead of giving them equal importance in the story after billing them both as mains. and also taken the Only woman in the 118 off the team. and like, yeah. sure. you can argue that obviously hen's storyline is ongoing and she is going to be back on the team at some point. but like. even so. she is Still the sole woman. nine seasons in. one woman and five men. and well there's also the fact that maddie was Kidnapped and had her throat slit while pregnant and there was barely any focus on how that affected her. and athena had to bury another husband in a whole other state and her grief was dealt with in fucking Space because tim cares more about making a hollywood disaster movie than he does about the actual show and its characters
