You’re always going to be young in someone’s eyes and old in someone else’s, talented to one and terrible to the next. The worlds never going to agree on a definition of what you are so you might as well ignore that shit and be whatever the fuck you wanna be for yourself.

The dominant culture lies about aging. Losing my youth is one of the best things that’s happened to me. In spite of some devastating personal and global circumstances, my brief time in my 40s has been fucking wonderful.

I’m kinder, wiser, and more present than I’ve ever been. Grandiose narratives that always led to disappointment are being replaced by a compassionate engagement with what is. I know and love myself and other people and the earth better. I have less to prove and more to appreciate. I’m less objectified and this is freeing up my subjective experience. I do work that has meaning to me and I’m respected in it. I’m increasingly connected to my ancestors.

The human life course can be very hard, and we live in a world that makes it much harder than it ought to be. But clinging to youth isn’t the answer. So much more becomes available to us when we loosen our grip on what we think we should be and open ourselves to what we are: creatures who need care and are here, miraculously, for only a brief time.

Women

Since the 50s, women were forced inside to be a maid. Since the 50s an uptick in the usage of anti-anxiety medication in women began.

No it is not JUST because women are inherently more emotional and can't handle high stress jobs.

Since the 50s, women have been self-reflecting. They have been looking at a society from which they have been barred from. Their ability to think deeply is not a weakness, it is their strength.

It is the result of a patriarchal society that has costed them their reputations. Now, the structure is beginning to crumble. Technological advancements have taken away the prerequisite of physical labor. Women are unforgiving competitors, they have reflected and found that a quality of life is dependent on how humanity treats each other - not how much land or wealth one person can acquire.

The patriarchy crumbles as women take lead and the men begin to self-reflect and begin the transformation that women had begun decades ago. Women are simply ahead of their time and societal development, they are NOT weak.

Quotes like these have good intentions until we realize, we all can't be special. In fact, we're quite the opposite; there are billions of people in this world who feel just as misunderstood. Therefore, we're all apart of a collective that doesn't work towards understanding each other but instead idolizes being an outcast. You can't be made for another world if you can't even figure out this one.
