My Tallest, Buffest Reindeer || Shea & Jaden (closed)
"The Beach Boys are most certainly festive! Have you not heart Little Saint Nick?!" Shea called out after a group of teenage girls walked away giggling like they’d won some major war, "I’ll be you’re all on the naughty list!" She shook her fist after them, glaring at them and their haughty attitude. "Stupid teenagers. Thinking they’re so much better than everyone else." Shea continued grumbling until they were out of sight. And then she shook the mood. Last thing she wanted was to end up like Darcy the Grinch. She shivered at the thought.
She turned to continue on back to her apartment when she spotted her favorite, tallest reindeer. She squealed happily before taking off running, one hand on her santa hat so it wouldn’t fall off; only releasing it once she reached him and she jumped up onto his back. “Jadennnn!” she said, hugging him around the neck, and wrapping her legs around his waist. She hoped he was used to this. Pretty much 85% of the time she spent with Jaden was spent in piggyback rides. “Hope you’re feeling festive today!” she said, reaching down into her bag and grabbing one of the 18339 santa hats she carried around, then pulled it down onto his head.
She then leaned sideways a bit as he looked back at her and her megawatt smile spread across her face, “Perfect! You’re so handsome in that hat, Jaden. I’m jealous. Not that I want to be handsome; or do I? I suppose it wouldn’t be terrible. But I’d rather be cute.” She fluffed her dark hair and fixed her hat on her head before adding, “Which, I know I am in this hat, it’s kind of impossible not to be cute in a santa hat. Unless you’re a Grinch like Darcy.”
The first time Jaden experienced a Shea tackle, he was walking down Main St. and was convinced one of the Belfront's had finally, actually gone crazy and was tackling everyone in the town square. It wasn't until he realized that none of the Belfront's, except for maybe Claire, could weigh as little as whoever was on his back. Since then, Jaden had gotten used to and almost expected Shea's tackles. They were the customary Jaden/Shea greeting and while he liked to tease her about giving her permanent back damage over the years, Jaden really didn't mind.
"I was just lamenting about little Christmas spirit I've seen in town today..." He let out an overdramatic sigh as he tucked his hands underneath the crook of She's knees, getting her better situated on his back. As he turned his head to look back at her, he couldn't help but chuckle. Shea LaCroix was the definition of cuteness. With or without her infamous Santa hats that usually stuck around even after Christmas was long over. "Now Shea, you know you've got that cute thing on lock." he replied with a grin. "And you know not everyone can have as much Christmas spirit as the two of us." he added, giving her a slight jostle before continuing to walk in the direction he had been before. "And I hope you don't mind that I'm kidnapping you and forcing you to help me pick out a Christmas gift for Harley." Shea would be the perfect shopping buddy for something like this. One, she was a girl and a fashionable girl so she'd have a good idea of what Harley would like. Two, she loved all things having to do with Christmas so she wouldn't mind his extra corniness for the day.

Here Comes the Cavalry | MJ, Harley & Jaden (closed)
Jaden didn't really know when he had actually made the decision to come find MJ. The moments after Kelly had left his place after dropping off the lucky feather he'd given to MJ ages ago were sort of a blur. He wasn't sure exactly how his mind had come to the conclusion that this was the best course of action, but the next second he was calling Harley, filling her in on his plan and then she was heading home to meet him, insisting on coming too. He hadn't really had much time to think about it either, as they'd caught the first flight out of Jackson.
Once they'd gotten on the plane and settled in their seats, though, Jaden suddenly had plenty of time to think about it. Sure, Harley and him had talked about what all MJ had gone through in the last few weeks and what they thought the best way to approach the situation was. But after a little while, they'd both fallen into silence. And thanks to what Jaden considered sibling telepathy, he was certain Har was pondering what all this would mean for their friend too.
When Kelly had given Jaden his bird feather key chain back, a part of him couldn't help but feel as if MJ was rejecting him. Giving that little token to MJ, cheesy as it may have been, had been Jaden's way of saying that he would always be there for her. That he'd be there whenever she needed, no matter the circumstances. And her giving it back, had almost felt like she didn't want or need his help anymore.
During the four and a half hour long flight, Jaden had gone back and forth with thoughts that maybe this trip up to New York hadn't been a good idea. What if she really didn't want them? What if it wasn't just an act to make them think she was okay on her own. What if she really wanted to be on her own? Were they overstepping their bounds here? But as the pilot announced their upcoming descent into NYC, he realized that it was too late to go back now and after he and Harley had gotten their bags, they hailed a cab and were headed to the hospital where Harley said MJ'd be.
Sitting in the back of that cab, Jaden looked over at Harley, almost nervously as the vehicle navigated its way through the hustle and bustle of NYC. "Well, we're definitely not in Oxford anymore, Toto." he said with a nervous chuckle.
carrier pigeon for the canary: jaden/kelly
A slight “oompf” escaped Kelly’s lips when Jaden wrapped her up into a tight hug. She coughed when he let her go, patting her chest with wide eyes. She hadn’t been hugged in a long time, let alone squeezed like that. Kelly knew that people had noticed her prolonged absence; her cellphone record alone was evidence of that. She got calls on the daily from a Belfront or Brett, Lill or Holly. She rarely picked up. Kelly expected those people to notice when she didn’t come home, Jaden though, she was surprised. They’d rarely spoken. We had started to wonder if you were ever coming home, repeated in her head. Was there some sort of weekly Where Is Kelly Smith? club that hosted a rag tag group of locals throwing out guesses of her location. The thought made her uncomfortable. She squirmed in her clothes and stepped in.
"Thanks," she chuckled weakly. She didn’t know exactly what she was thanking him for, it just seemed like a normal thing to say in the moment. Kelly scratched the top of her head. How was she supposed to do this? Drop the token and leave? Kelly disliked small talk and she didn’t know Jaden well enough to bring up a substantial topic. She cleared her throat, "—err M.J.’s fine," she squeaked. Kelly didn’t know at the start of her sentence what she was going to say. Her words her quiet and unenthusiastic. Her face scrunched up. "She’s fine, I think." She nodded.

He closed the door behind her and watched her move uncomfortably into the house. Thank god he lived with Harley and the house was spotless. If it had been left to him and he had gotten unexpected company, it would’ve resembled something an actual wolf lived in to be honest.
He let out a relieved breath when she spoke. She moved right to the point and saved him trying to think of something else to talk about. Sure, he supposed he could ask her how her trip had been. But a part of Jaden, the part that was slowly realizing how very weird it was that he had hugged her just seconds ago, felt like it wasn’t really his place to do so. He didn’t want to come off as one of those superficial, shallow acquaintances who asked how your trip was and then didn’t really want anything more than a one word answer. That wasn’t Jaden. And while he genuinely would have liked to ask her how her trip was, he would have rather waited until they were better friends so she could know he truly cared.
“That’s good.” he nodded, looking somewhat like a parent listening to the doctor’s prognosis after their child’s check up. When she said that MJ gave her something though, Jaden’s heart sank. He couldn’t really explain why, but something about the fact that she hadn’t said something made him nervous. Made this whole trip back to New York more… final. “Oh?” he finally asked, finally looking up to meet her gaze.

carrier pigeon for the canary: jaden/kelly
Kelly remembered the day she left for New York perfectly, mostly because it seemed like a fresh start. Even though she wasn’t leaving Oxford for a long time (or at least she didn’t think so at that point), it felt like a chance to start over. New York was supposed to offer her the chance to focus on something other than a band of rugged man-children and their outlandishly hot female counterpart. New York was about books and books and books and happiness and definitely not Toby and more books and definitely not Colton. New York was about Kelly being Kelly without a Belfront in her life. It turned out to treat her pretty well.
She had a skip in her step as she walked to her car that morning to catch a flight. Her luggage, although heavy, barely weighed her down. It was all normal until Jaden Keventry came jogging around the corner. He was shirtless of course; although Kelly only knew Jaden as an acquaintance, both natives of Oxford, she had seen him shirtless more often than than not. Maybe he needed a charity started in his name…
Nevertheless, it was his request upon running up her driveway that was more striking. “Find Maggie Jean—um M.J. for me. Tell her to come back,” were more or less his words. Kelly wished she could remember them exactly, because as soon as she spoke, she felt a heaviness in her heart; she wished someone would say that about her. Little did she know, in the following months she would be inundated with phone-calls from friends and family, worried that she hadn’t come home. Kelly agreed… and much to her surprise, she did in fact run into M.J. Monroe while in New York. She was just as unfamiliar with M.J. as she was with Jaden. Kelly had been on her way to get coffee one morning when M.J. was exiting the backdoor of a small theatre. Kelly had exclaimed “M.J.!” at first, but the redhead hadn’t heard. She had headphones in, probably used to showbiz fans shouting her name everyday. That’s when she pulled out the big guns: “Maggie Jean!” Jaden had said it so distinctly back in Mississippi. M.J. whipped around immediately, petrification in her big eyes.
What M.J. had given Kelly in return for her message from Jaden now sat comfortably in the book bag over her shoulder. A heavy cardigan over her shoulders and a beanie covering her head of hair, she clicked down the Oxford sidewalk to the house she thought was Jaden’s. She was nervous. The way M.J. had handed over her token seemed like it deserved a better carrier pigeon than some random girl neither recipient even knew that well.
Despite this, Kelly knocked mightily on Jaden’s front door. She hugged the bag to her side. She hadn’t been in contact since that day he came running up his driveway; it seemed like he should have gotten a little warning.
The day MJ had left had been just like any other day. It passed in a completely normal way, nothing out of the ordinary. Jaden had been coerced into helping Harley rearrange the furniture and then the two had invited Dylan and Blake over and the Keventry/Moorehead cousins had spent their evening like just about every other, getting drunk while watching an old movie and throwing popcorn at Blake. Jaden had been completely unaware of how much history was repeating itself.
It wasn't until the next day, when Jaden's 16 phone calls had gone unanswered and he had traipsed over to MJ's mother's house to check on her that the reality of the situation finally hit him. Of course, Jaden knew that what Maggie Jean was going through was probably one of the worst experiences she had ever faced in her life. She'd lost her mother and a dear friend/ex-boyfriend in such a short time. He knew that life had thrown her some rough cards. But what he hadn't known, was her plan to return to New York again.
He couldn't blame her. She had every right to want to retreat away from her world that had taken so much from her. And yet, a part of him still hurt that she hadn't even told him or Harley at the very least. She'd simply left and while Jaden respected her decision, he still wished she'd come home. So a couple days later when he'd heard from one of the Belfront's that Kelly Smith was in fact going to New York, he knew he had to use this opportunity to communicate with her.
MJ wasn't taking any of his calls, answering his texts, and was ignoring every single Facebook poke. But she couldn't ignore someone actually there, telling her what Jaden had said, right? He didn't know Kelly very well, but he couldn't really let that stop him now. This might be his one chance. He'd probably looked like a crazy person, running up to her house for the first time, shirtless and sweaty from his run. But Jaden hadn't really had time to shower and get properly dressed. Kelly had looked at him like he was crazy, but had actually agreed to pass on his message if she ran into MJ. And Jaden couldn't be more grateful.
Everything had worked out infinitely better than he could have planned. That is until he actually had to wait for Kelly to return. The problem with not really knowing the person you asked to carry a message for you, meant they weren't necessarily obligated to tell you their plans. And Jaden had waited and waited for days, for Kelly to return. He'd gotten so desperate, he'd rerouted his runs every day so that he could run by her house to check if she was home. He'd done this for a couple weeks before Harley had told him to stop creeping out Kelly's neighbors. By then, Jaden had just about given up anyways. She'd been gone for 8 weeks when she had said she'd be gone for one. Maybe Kelly, like MJ, was done with Oxford.
That was why, when a knock had sounded on his and Harley's door, Jaden had expected nearly anyone else besides the beanie-wearing, book-bag toting brunette who now stood at his doorway. "Kelly!" he said with a grin, the moment he opened the door, stepping forward and lifting her up in a big bear hug that probably wasn't appropriate for someone who barely knew her. It was probably just as strange as him asking her to seek out another stranger even though he didn't know her. But at least he was fully clothed this time. "You're back. We had started to wonder if you were ever coming home!" he exclaimed with a chuckle, although it really was more of a question than a statement. "Come on in!" he added, stepping back a little and inviting her inside and off of his front porch.
Woopsies, Didn't See Ya There | Jaden & Penny (closed)
Penny had a faint feeling that being a part of a pack was a little bit like being apart of a family — but Penny knew little to none about being apart of either one either way. With a hollow shell for a mother and the closest person she had ever had since a serial killer, Penny was feeling a bit under the dumps.
Which was why she had been about to shift. Before she caught him naked, obviously, and distractions turned her head around from there. She cocked her head at his question, rose a brow as he seemed to debate with something in his head, and finally Penny broke out a small smile.
"A beer would be awesome," Penny spoke so matter-of-factly as she shrugged her jacket back over her shoulders. In essence, Penny could use a lot more than just one. "I’m Penelope, by the way. Well, Penny for short, only my mom calls me Penelope. And the mailman…" Rambling. Again. Penny hid a grimace before stepping towards him with a small wave of her hand. "I’ll follow along, soldier."
He had almost expected her to turn him down flat. After all, he had just shifted in front of her. Winding up completely naked in the woods and then suggesting heading back to his house… in the woods, sounded like a pretty good beginning to a horror movie.
But then she agreed, and so assuredly, so instantaneous was her response that Jaden couldn’t help but half wonder if she had really understood that a stranger was asking her if she accompany him, by herself, to his house. But he wasn’t about to ask her to change her mind. He just marked that off as something they’d have to work on later on. Getting Penny, because that was what she said her name was, to not go home with strangers. Jaden didn’t even know this girl, but he was already sticking his nose in where it might not necessarily belong. Her safety, really shouldn’t have been his concern at this point. It wasn’t his job to protect her, but that’s just how Jaden worked. It might make him a pain in the ass to deal with sometimes, but he was always looking out for other people’s safety.
He stepped up beside her, offering her his hand. “Nice to meet you, Penny.” he shook her petite hand in greeting, a cheesy grin on his face before moving forward into the woods and eventually falling into step beside her. “I’m Jaden.” he added after a moment, realizing he hadn’t exactly followed normal social cues by telling her his name after she had shared his. “And everybody calls me Jaden for short, but not the mailman… he just calls me Harley’s brother.” he added, a teasing smirk on his lips as he glanced over at her. “So what brings you to Oxford, Penny?” he asked a few seconds later, more curious about her story than he probably should be. He just couldn’t imagine life without a pack and the fact that she had survived through it really made him wonder just who this Penny girl was.
Woopsies, Didn't See Ya There | Jaden & Penny (closed)
Penny could feel a corner of her lips curve up in a smirk as he attempted to blab about how awkward it was growing up in a pack. She didn’t doubt it was awkward — this had been awkward for a second, her cheeks were still tinged with pink and she had, in fact, looked at his package despite the fact that she told him she hadn’t. There were people in this pack of his who got to look at each other’s goods all the time! Penny wasn’t so much shocked as she was intrigued.
But she couldn’t stop listening. If there was one thing Penny had always hated about herself, it was that she had let her mother’s words get to her. Penny could run as far away from her past but she would always be insecure about her furry little problem. Always.
"But you guys are practically — practically unfuckwithable, right?" Penny asked, almost too earnest for her own good. There were literally songs written about how sucky it was being on your own. Nothing good ever came from being by yourself, and Penny had gone and gotten herself into the worst kind of trouble. "That’s so cool.”
Penny shrugged. “I usually drove out to some farmlands to shift, when I needed to. Sounds like I missed out on all the fun stuff — I mean, interesting…” Penny blabbed, waving a hand and making a soft putting noise with her lips. “Being nude, in a pack with some other hot bodies, probably. That’s like an art show in Chicago but they don’t have —” Penny motioned to him and turned red once again. “All that. I’m talking a lot about you being nude, I think it’s all this heat, I’m more off an all-weather wolf.” Penny bit her lips between her teeth and shook her head. She needed to stop rambling.
He chuckled at her description of the pack. "I guess you could say that... at least, as far as outsiders are concerned. But within the pack... well, everyone's fair game." he mused, thinking of all the pranks that had been played on Toby over the years. "And believe me, everyone is fuckable with inside the pack." he added with a shake of his head. Growing up, Jaden had been the recipient of plenty of 'fucking with.' Though he wouldn't trade his pack for anything in the world, there were definitely times when he wondered if they all weren't a curse after all.
He couldn't help the smirk that came to his lips though when she started talking about him being nude again. Nice to know he had made an impression at least. "Would you uhh..." he paused as he tried to think of a way to ask her this without creeping her out. "would you wanna head back to my place for a drink? Maybe a beer or two would help both of us get over our embarrassment? And it's not that far." He really wasn't trying to make it sound like he wanted to get her drunk and then take advantage of her. But it had come out that way anyways. Maybe he should have mentioned the fact that Harley would probably be there too?
Can't Stay Away || Gaige & Jaden (closed)
Gaige felt her breath hitch in her throat as his head dropped to her neck and his breath spread out across the skin of her chest. Oh sweet lord, she was sure she was about to melt. She almost pouted when he straightened himself and gazed down at her, but his words kept her distracted. She couldn’t deny the thrill that went down her spine as she thought about just going at it right here. But, this was also a small town. And once you did something, no one ever forgot. Besides, she knew the police officers in this town waaaay too well for it to be even remotely comfortable when they got arrested for public indecency.
She placed her hands to his chest, her blue eyes scanning over him, “I don’t want to share you, though.” Which was true. They hardly ever let themselves give in; and she wasn’t about to share the view that was Jaden Keventry’s abs with just anyone.
GG bit down on her lower lip as her hands closed around the fabric of his shirt. “Yes, I don’t want to share,” she said again as if to remind herself; she’d been about to attack him again. “You, go, in the car,” she commanded with a light laugh, pushing him back from her a little bit. “I can’t think straight when you’re that close,” she breathed out, fighting her hands from reaching out and pulling him back.
She jumped down off the trunk and quickly walked around to the driver’s side. She let out a breath. There, her brain was clearer now. “Damn it, Jaden,” she laughed as she dropped down into the driver’s seat and felt the fog return to her brain to be so close to him, “How do you do that to me?” Without waiting for him to answer, she turned her car on and pulled out of the parking lot.
When she looked up at him, when their eyes met, Jaden couldn't help the the way it affected him. He stopped breathing as time simply stood still. No one else in the world existed to Jaden. He could have stayed there, wrapped up in her gaze for forever if she let him. But then she was gently pushing him away and he realized how intense that moment had been.
Slowly he moved away from her, grumbling a bit as he did; though he couldn't help the cheeky grin he gave her when she looked over at him over her car. He plopped down into the passenger's seat of her car, taking up so much more space than a normal person should. Waiting, not really very patiently for her to make her way around and get in as well.
The second she was seated, he was leaning over, invading her space. Pressing his lips to her neck for a brief moment, before pulling away just slightly. "I don't know. How do you do this to me?" he mused, his nose tracing up and down her neck. He really shouldn't be doing this while she was driving. But it was just too tempting for him to reach over and take her right then and there. Man did they need to get to her place... like 10 seconds ago.
Woopsies, Didn't See Ya There | Jaden & Penny (closed)
Penny could tell by the incredulous look on his face that she had completely caught this guy off guard — and he had been the one to walk up to her stark naked! But she knew that was neither here nor there, considering she had just been about to get naked as well. Being a wolf was weird
But clearly not for this guy. There were other wolves. He had a whole pack. That meant there was more than just him and his mother or father. There were people who understood everything that she had been going through her whole life; people who had probably been raised to understand; people who weren’t deathly afraid of the full moon. Hell — people who probably weren’t stupid enough to get involved with werewolf hunters, because there was a pack here. Penny was about to cry. Scratch that, Penny was crying. She looked away, brought the back of her hand up to her eyes and shook her head, hiding her tears before they could fall. “It was just me and my mom. And then in Chicago, it was just… me,” she shrugged lamely, propping her hands helplessly at her sides. “I always knew there had to be more, but I never really knew there were packs.” Penny wondered how different her life would have been if she would have had one. There was an underlying fear laced beneath her words, and a bitter taste of jealousy on her tongue, mixed with that familiar bit of anger. She had never loathed her mother more. "That’s… amazing,” she sighed out honestly.
He noticed how emotional she got. Jaden truly couldn't imagine what her life had been like, not having the built in family, not having a group of people who went through exactly what you did, who you could talk with, joke about it, even. He sighed and as she shook her head and unless he was mistaken, there were tears in her eyes.
Now Jaden felt really bad. He hadn't meant to rub it in her face. And yet, his idiocy and incredulousness at the fact that she didn't even know about packs had done just that. He lamely reached out and patted her back softly. "It's not always that great." he replied, trying to make her feel better. Normally, Jaden was a lot... well, he was just better at comforting people. But considering he had met this girl for the very first time completely naked, his usual charm was somewhat less tonight.
"I mean, you didn't have to deal with over 20 people knowing each and every aspect of your life and forcing themselves into your life growing up." he added. "Plus, it definitely made puberty a lot more... interesting." he teased with a wink. He could remember months at a time where shifting in front of his pack had been one of the worst ordeals while everyone started changing and not just by shifting into wolf form.
He watched her cheeks redden and couldn’t help but smirk a little. Clearly, this girl hadn’t been around the Belfront’s or seeing a naked guy after he just shifted wouldn’t phase her one bit. When she raised her hand to keep him from her sight, he really had to hold back a...
He disappeared for a couple seconds behind the bush as he bent down to pick up the old flannel shirt he'd kept in his stash. When he stood up, his expression was puzzled. He couldn't imagine going through shifting for the first time thinking you were alone. He had known about what he was for as long as he lived. His father had made sure of that. So shifting for the first time was something he had been expecting, waiting impatiently for even. How could one even handle thinking they were the only one who went through all of that??
As he shrugged on his flannel shirt he stepped out from behind the bushes and walked towards her, slowly buttoning up his shirt as he contemplated what her life must have been like. He couldn't really being to fathom life without his pack. They were his family more than his actual family, aside from Harley, was. In fact, Jaden loved being werewolf. But if he were honest with himself, he'd have to attribute most of that to his pack. If he didn't have the pack, well... he'd be miserable.
"You mean, you thought you were the only werewolf out there?" he asked quietly once he was closer to her. As he looked down at her, he was consumed with a strange urge to wrap her up in a big hug. How could a werewolf survive life without their pack?
Woopsies, Didn't See Ya There | Jaden & Penny (closed)
Penny hadn’t even been in town a week when she had realized that she had made a grave mistake. Her Iowa farm had been home to her and her mother, the two of them practically alone for acres and acres. Chicago had been vastly different; bodies practically atop bodies and perhaps a few more vampires than she had ever wanted to deal with, but they never bothered her and she never bothered them. Chicago had also had Oliver.
Penny trudged through the wooded areas around the town, looking for a place to shift. Growing up, Penny’s mother had only ever told her to shift during the full moon — that shifting at will was far too dangerous — but that was exactly how Penny had wanted to live her life now. She knew Oliver wouldn’t find her any time soon, if ever. If there was one thing Penny had stressed during their relationship, it was that she valued snow far too much to ever want to move south.
And yet, here she was. 80 fucking degrees on a fall day and the town acted as though hell had froze over. Her jeans and scarves were furious with her, but in her angry, scared haze while packing and especially when picking a random flight, Penny had been wildly unprepared for everything.
Oxford smelled familiar, however; like an old friend. A place she was supposed to be, though she couldn’t really figure out why. Her motel room may or may not have had blood stains on the other side of the mattress and she worked with two extremely old ladies who appeared to be one smoker’s cough away from death. Finding a place to shift, at this point, was absolutely essential.
She stopped along a brush of bushes, removing her cardigan and folding it neatly before moving to the button of her shorts — when she stopped abruptly. That familiar smell seemed to be moving in closer; her ears practically tilting towards the noise and she remained deathly still. It was an animal, right? A vampire wouldn’t have been out during the day, and her brained wracked at the possibility of Sasquatch because maybe southerners weren’t all that crazy after all if they believed in Sasquatch when vampires and the like we’re clearly real as well, but then she saw it: a wolf. Penny’s eyes narrowed.
She hadn’t been expecting it to shift. Nor had she been expecting it to shift into… That.
She gasped — loudly — and clutched her cardigan to her chest, her eyes wide as saucers as they moved from his face, down south over the rest of his, ahem, parts, and then back up to his face. She sucked in a breath and held her hand out to cover his lower half from her gaze, not trusting her wandering eyes — which was when she then actually began to focus on his actual words.
She didn’t speak at first, mouth opening and closing not unlike a fish as she stared at him. He was a wolf. There were other wolves around here. He was so very naked. “I—” Penny gasped out finally, swallowing a lump in her throat as she dropped her hand and shut her eyes. “I’m sorry, I can’t — did you just say ‘wolves?’ Like more than one? More than — more than just you and me?”
Penny’s eyes opened, trying to remain on his face. “I looked down,” she blurted out quickly. “You just kind of sprung up on me. I mean snuck up, not sprung, nothing sprung,” she rambled, cheeks reddening. “I don’t — I can’t really focus. You’re super naked right now. Very… muscles and masculine and…” Penny slammed her eyes shut once more. “Do you have pants?” she asked stupidly, covering her face in her hands.
He watched her cheeks redden and couldn't help but smirk a little. Clearly, this girl hadn't been around the Belfront's or seeing a naked guy after he just shifted wouldn't phase her one bit. When she raised her hand to keep him from her sight, he really had to hold back a bark of laughter. Yeah, she was definitely new around here.
But then he listened to her words, and well payed attention to her actions, not just her pretty face, and realized... Goddamnit! he was naked! Jaden mentally cursed. Sure, she was pretty enough he had wanted to make some kind of impression on her. But crazy, naked, wilderness hick wasn't exactly what he had had in mind. "Sorry, I-" suddenly, Jaden felt very self conscious.
He lowered his hands, trying to cover up as he shuffled closer to her. Wincing a little as she jumped back from him. She probably thought he was a crazy rapist or something. But what Jaden had failed to explain was that his stash was hidden just a few feet to her left. He kneeled down and lifted up the patch of dirt and quickly pulled out the ziploc bag. He held them up, as if having a stash of clothing buried in the middle of the woods was perfectly normal and explained his crazy behavior. "Sorry, umm... one sec." he apologized again before shuffling behind the nearest bush.
With only his top half exposed, he began pulling on his boxers and then pants. And then he remembered her question from before. "Yeah, we have a pack here." he replied offhandedly, as if it were common sense. Then as he shimmied into his pants, he cocked his head to the side, realizing that what she said meant she didn't know about other wolves. "Don't you have a pack back at home?" he asked curiously.
