it's one of the first warm, sunny days of the year and green leaves and violet and yellow flowers are popping up everywhere and it's toasty on the bench by the river where i'm sitting and drinking a fruity soda and i can see the deep blue of the current and the crows flying against the azure of the sky and then the smallest child in the universe, wearing ridiculously cute round sunglasses and a tiny pink helmet, astride the smallest bike on earth stops by me and says hi and i wave at them and i smile wider than i ever have when the child smiles at me and says bye bye and i say bye as i watch the child's father look at them with a horrendously fond expression and we lock eyes with the father and smile as everything is just right and so lovely at the moment and the child and the father continue their slow journey on the gravel pathway towards the bridge over the river and i watch them walking and biking and talking and smiling and i cry, silent tears streaming down my face, because maybe everything will be okay and life is worth living and humans are wonderful creatures and love is stored in the everyday life of ordinardy people actually
