i am of the opinion that shane hollander would be a hockey player in every universe. like absolutely do a college au but he better be playing for his schools hockey team. and sure you can make that man work in a coffee shop but it’s because he’s using his pay check to buy new skates for his his beer league games. he can be a celeb who drives out of LA as much as he can because the rinks are better outside of the city. if he’s a superhero he has ice powers. if he’s in the mob hes an enforcer on and off the ice. hockey is so intrinsically tied to the core of that man it becomes impossible for me to believe his characterization if he isn’t playing hockey. and to read any au fic where ilya is playing hockey and shane isn’t? impossible. there’s simply no way.
