Cross stitching sounds like such a boring hobby, especially printed (as opposed to counted) cross stitch. You do the same thing over and over and it's not even a complex motion. You get your thread tangled and it takes forever to see results.
And yet I stayed up til 4 am working on my printed cross stitch and had to work HARD to tear myself away to go to bed.
you know, i never thought i would be the type to have a bunch of craft wips....... i have 4 pdfs open on my computer, and one printed pattern of in progress things, 4 of which are cross stitch. one is crochet, i havent spiraled out of control about that yet... yet
color matching is a bitch, fuuuuuck i am 3 colors in of 29 whyyyyyyyyy
*while sewing*: you are a fabric. you can stay a fabric. you do not yearn to return to being string.
*while spinning*: you are a thread. you can stay a thread. you do not yarn to return to being fluff.
*while embroidering*: you are a thread on a needle. you can just exist as thread on a needle. you do knot yearn to become a tangle.
*while turning wood* you are timber on a lathe. You can stay as timber on a lathe. You do not yearn to become a live hand grenade.
Sure that knot in your thread is probably just a slip knot and one good tug would unravel it, but are you really willing to test that theory?
I've been learning to cross stitch recently!! These are my first two pieces! The first one is of a black chess pawn and is a stage door gift for an understudy at Operation Micemeat on the West End, and the second is of a sprite of Siffrin, the main character from In Stars And Time (my favourite video game).
I am always packing scissors and memes.

after getting into cross stitch i feel that i now more deeply understand the women who came before me like it takes up my time, i'm learning the basics of an essential skill, and i have a (mostly) pretty product by the end
like i spent almost all day sunday just cross stitching it's a good activity!

And I'm not talking normal stuff like being overly ambition, or lack of planning, not finishings

I'll go first: I keep working with size 11 and size 15 seed beads in bed. And find them in my sheets when I'm trying to sleep
All I can think of is using too long threads and I leave my work in a hoop (when applicable) and I don't think in supposed to but I cannot be bothered to undo and redo it everytime so
The stitching and the memes go on.
the thing about fiber art that nobody tells you about is that every single kind of fiber art is a gateway drug to other kinds of fiber art.
Still trying to find that sweet spot of finding a rare whole day free to cross stitch, taking my stimulants at the right time, and not feeling guilty about it the whole time.
Feeling a little disheartened by how long this hobby takes when I have a less than ideal attention span and only a couple of hours a night to work on it, barring interruptions.
I mean, I keep my projects slightly in progress basically all the time (thread started, needle on top of the work thus stitch started) and just work on them whenever I have basically any time and also while I watch stuff which helps the attention bit somewhat
