CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN HOW PREGNANCY WORKS THERE?? ryan was born a supe cause homelander is project odessa right, everyone else including gen v was born a supe from both humans cause of getting v, meavrick is translucent son but we don't know who is the mother ig and was andre a supe cause of v or was he born like that already cause of his dad?

AND what happens in a situation like hughie and annie? is the kid supe cause annie is a supe? but if yes then what happens if the women is human, is human body capable of carrying a naturally supe child? cause becca almost died right and that would mean that any supe/human relationship are like a death threat for the women. theoretically they tried to tell us that the powers show later in age but only with v kids not naturally born supes and homelander was a naturally born supe and had powers before even being born.

if soldierboy would get firecracker pregnant would she die from carrying a V1 supe child?

do the kids get similar powers to their parents? if both parents are supes is the v somehow doubled creating a stronger supe?

I saw someone asking a pretty similar question to yours and other questions related to supe biology recently, so I created a little breakdown of how the "Supe Biology" seems to work across The Boys, Gen V, and Diabolical. Already weote this before, but just added the ones you asked as well. Definitely take this with a grain of salt because the lore is always expanding with the upcoming other related shows and I might have some misconceptions, but here is my "cheat sheet" for the V-tiers: (put it all below cuz it got too long, I may have been a bit into it XD).

• V1 supes (Soldier Boy era/Vought Rising): Injected as adults. Genetically modified, but they don't seem to pass down abilities naturally. No record of them having powered kids without lab help.

• Odessa V supes (Homelander & Marie): Injected way earlier, during the blastocyst/embryo stage. This rewrote them at a cellular level, which is probably why Homelander is so much stronger and could actually pass his powers to Ryan naturally.

• Compound V supes (The majority - Starlight, A-Train, Andre, Maverick): Injected as babies. They aren't sterile, but their kids are born human. To get powers, the kids (like Translucent’s son Maverick) have to be injected too. Their DNA acts like a blueprint, so the V usually gives them a power similar to their parent.

• V24 supe (Hughie & Butcher): Only lasts 24 hours. Doesn’t change their reproductive or their any part of their DNA permenantly, so nothing gets passed down.

• Naturalborn supe (Ryan): The first "true" one. He had V in his system from birth and inherited his powers directly without ever needing a needle.

Some extra notes:

• The Sterility Lie: While most supes know they can have kids (like Mesmer and Translucent), Vought and Dr. Vogelbaum specifically lied to Homelander to keep him isolated and under their thumb. It turns out he just has a very low fertility rate, which is why Ryan was such a "miracle" that caught even Vought by surprise.

• The Vaccine Cover-up: This is how guys like Andre and Maverick got their powers. Vought secretly gives Compound V to the parents, who then inject it into their babies while pretending it’s just a normal childhood vaccine or vitamin. The parents willingly do it because Vought signs the infants to massive talent contracts, basically trading their kid's DNA for a huge corporate paycheck. Or just plainly telling the parents they'll have better lives like what happened to Annie.

• The Human/Supe Pregnancy Risk: To answer your question about Firecracker and Annie, carrying a natural Supe child is def death sentence for a regular human woman. Ryan’s powers developed in the womb, and his crazy growth and super-durability almost killed Becca during delivery (Vought had to do emergency surgery in secret). But if a female Supe like Annie or Firecracker got pregnant, their bodies have that baseline super-durability, so their tissues could actually handle carrying a Supe fetus without tearing apart. Though that wouldn't happen cuz they aren't genetically engineered or their DNA aren't altered as much like Homelander. One of the main points why he's special is that he survived getting V, during the embryonic stage, while others are given after birth (Compound V) and during adult stage (both Compound V and V1), which are very lethal.

• The Ryan Culmination: Ryan is basically the "perfect" end of a V-chain. It started with Soldier Boy (perfect V1 compatibility), whose DNA was used to make Homelander (via embryonic injection), which finally led to Ryan (natural birth).

• The Genetic Blueprint: DNA and personality definitely play a part. Hughie and his dad both got "evasive" powers (teleporting and phasing) because they share those non-confrontational traits. Andre inherited magnetic manipulation from Polarity, and Maverick inherited invisibility from Translucent, because as I said, their DNA acts like a blueprint for the V.

• DNA link, personality, and health: These factors can totally change how the V manifests, like how it created the misfit supes in Diabolical and the random powered-up animals (like the farm animals and Jamie the hamster) in the main show.

• The Butcher/Cancer Mutation: This is the craziest example of health changing the V. When Butcher took permanent Compound V to save his life, it didn't just heal him. It reacted with his aggressive, fast-spreading brain cancer cells. It basically gave his tumor its own sentient, super-powered biology. Now it’s this crazy parasitic relationship where the V fuels the cancer into a physical entity (the black tentacles) that he can control, showing that V adapts to whatever chaotic biological mess is already inside the host. This type of phenomenon is also shown in the The Boys: Diabolical animated show.

Homelander, I am so fucking sorry that the soulless blood-soaked nazi-built mega-corporation that dehumanized you and tortured you physically and psychologically from the moment of you took your first breath, in ways that are almost incomprehensible to the human mind, all for capitalistic greed… got to walk away from this series completely unscathed and in tact and ready to make more hopeless monsters exactly like you.

You had to go, that’s true. You were a monster that could not be rehabilitated. But you were a monster that Vought made. You should have at least gotten to take Vought down with you. But that wasn’t in the cards I guess. Supes still exist and Vought still exist, and because of that, somewhere in the world in a laboratory deep underground another little child just might exist with a future as hopeless as your own.

I've decided to stay clear once again of The Boys fandom after the final ep. I know most will cheer for his death and as much as I understand it 100%, I'll rather delude myself everything's fine XD.

I'll also be too focused on irl stuff so not that it's hard.

Best thing with a series ending is I can finally explore the character without fear of the actual show ruining them.

I have seen at least a couple seasons of "the Boys", but I've read and seen clips of past that.

I've seen all of Gen V.

(I don't have Amazon prime)

Something said Ryan (biologically Rebecca and Homelander's) son is the 1st known naturally born super.

Homelander is in his mid 40s and unless I missed something he's not the oldest super.

Is it explained somewhere about supers not birthing other supers? Or are supers sterile? Or did I read something wrong?

Aight, contains SPOILERS. Just putting my answer below as disclaimer and caution in case someone still watching the earlier seasons/other shows come across this.

This is what I remember or have heard/seen from The Boys, Gen V and The Boys: Diabolical.

V1 supes (soldier boy/vought rising supes era. Given to adults)- genetically modified. Either can't pass down abilities (one to one) or just has no document of offspring while being a V1 (traditionally)

Odessa V supes (Homelander & marie. Offspring of v1 supe given compound V during blastocyst/early embryo stage. Lab intervention) - genetically modified to cellular level. Can pass down the same abilities naturally. (Ex. HL to Ryan only)

Compound V supes (majority of supes) - Genetically modified. Can't pass down abilities traditionally to offspring. Offspring needs to be given compound v or temp v for the same or a slight variation of abiltiy of their parent to show. (Ex. Translucent & his son)

V24 supe (Hughie & Butcher) - genetically altered for 24 hrs. Can't pass down abilities to offspring. Offspring needs compound V to have a random/different ability compared to v24 ability of the parent.

Naturalborn supe (Ryan) - Naturally has V in their system. Directly inherits their parent's ability. V is part of their being.

Notes:

Supes are not sterile (it's all Vought propaganda).

Homelander is a rare exception (passing ability and low fertility).

Ryan is the result of a genetic V chain: V1 altered grandpa (Ben) and genetically modified V dad (John) to natural V (Ryan).

DNA link, personality, and health can alter the manifested abiltiy. (Hughie & his dad, Butcher, the V'd up animals, and the misfit supes from Diabolical)

The Paradoxical Homelander

Lately, while writing this current fic and painting some Homelander illustrations for it, I’ve been thinking a lot about how he actually has zero business being as nice as he is sometimes. Like, he’s a god-complex narcissist with a body count in the hundreds, but the writers keep giving him these moments of genuine, dare I say sweet, humanity that often have absolutely no ulterior motive.

First, the "Meritocracy" of it all. He’s a monster, but he’s not a bully to the people he actually respects.

Look at how he treated Black Noir his whole life. He gave him more genuine support, respect, and kindness than Soldier Boy ever did (mostly because SB was a racist piece of work).

He found Sister Sage in a literal dumpster, recognized her brain was the real deal, and gave her a seat at the table. Even when he was hurt by her (the whole A-Train saga in S4), he terminated her as an employee instead of lasering her brains off. That’s restraint he doesn't owe anyone.

He respected Maeve enough to actually honor her request to spare Starlight's life. He absolutely didn't have to do that. 

He bitches about Butcher constantly, but look at his face. He’s usually happy to see him. 😅 He’s had a dozen chances to kill Butcher, but he doesn't. He respects the rivalry too much to end it too early. 

At Fort Harmony, he didn't kill Soldier Boy even after being locked up in a radioactive cell. He even welded his dad's shield with his heat beams.

After probably breaking one of her ribs or two in the elevator, he told Starlight that he believed her when leaving, so she knew where he stood. 

He’s been a good dad/lover at times. This is where the person inside the monster really peeks out.

The Voughtland incident. The second he realized Ryan was overwhelmed by the noise, he took him out of there. There was no ego, no "tough it out." It was simply "my kid is stressed, we’re leaving."

When Stormfront got mutilated by Ryan, he didn't blame the kid. He went out of his way to tell Ryan it wasn't his fault, which is exactly what Becca would’ve wanted.

Even the Stormfront stuff; he didn't discard her when she was limbless and useless. He kept her at his penthouse and loved her enough to engage sexually. That’s a level of loyalty he didn't have to show.

The random and bizarre acts of politeness/kindness/courtesy (?) that's strange for him to show. This is the part that sends me.

He asks Butcher for permission to enter his house. When Madelyn was whining in the background in the S1 finale, Homelander paused, asked Butcher to excuse him for a minute while he sorted it out with Madelyn. 

He rescues Teddy, Madelyn's toddler (and Butcher, but for the thrill of seeing Butcher's reaction) in the S1 finale. He had literally no business saving Teddy because he saw the kid as his rival. 

He cracked a deal to steal some Compound V for Victoria Neuman’s kid instead of just threatening to end them. I think this also goes under the meritocracy part.

He fed the lab people cake before killing them. He really didn't have to do all that unnecessary courtesies, and he definitely didn't do it because it would add to the thrill of carnage. He actually just didn't want to visit home empty-handed. Like, if I’m about to meet my killer, I’d actually appreciate the snack? Especially because it's cake :p It’s such a weirdly considerate way to be a reaper.

He sincerely thanked Starlight for showing up at the interview when Noir had disappeared from the tower. He made sure she knew he appreciated it. He did that with the Deep and A-Train too at times, ensuring his teammates knew when he appreciated them. 

The reason Homelander is one of the best villains on TV is that he isn't just a one-dimensional evil creature. 

He has a moral compass, but it’s cracked and pointing in the wrong direction. The fact that he twitched when Stormfront started talking about "white genocide" to Ryan, that he debated with Becca about not making Ryan live a facade of a life, and didn't deprive smart people around him of good opportunities in life---prove he has some lines. He doesn't want to be a Nazi; he wants to be a God (indiscriminately cruel to everyone xD).

When he’s polite, when he’s grieving, or when he’s being a "supportive" friend, it reminds us that there’s a human being (even though he'd laser his fans for saying it) under the cape. He knows how to be good. He wants to be loved. But because he was raised in a lab, he has no idea how to hold onto those good impulses without them souring into violence.

It's been such a long time since I felt genuine respect for a villain since Joker, Harley Quinn, and Black Butler's Sebastian Michaelis. Of course, Jinx from Arcane has also made that list. But in recent times, Homelander tops it all for me.

I love how Butcher’s obsession with Homelander has resulted in Terror falling in love/lust with him. It is fucking hilarious and spectacular.
