the insane takes around the sonnett/trin moment are crazy people are acting like they hit each other when they were literally just yelling, not even rly getting in each others faces or anything remotely physical

people being mad at sonnett like it’s not completely normal for people to defend their teammates (especially for vets to defend rookies)

like bru fouled trin, she was mad about it made a card gesture standing over bru, the foul rightfully resulted in a second yellow/red then the other spirits were mocking and waving bru off which sonnett got mad at and said something to trin about it

this happens all the time in sports, tensions are high because they’re competitive and in the heat of the moment things can escalate

I promise you sonnett and trinity will be completely fine it’s not some major beef now

they are professionals, they get worked up on the field because it’s imperative for them to be competitive, once they are able to remove themselves from that atmosphere things calm down again

how many times have national team mates fought it out on the pitch then they’re completely fine after the games because it’s their jobs and they’re used to competing against each other

Sorry not sorry to everyone but Emily Sonnett is a better centerback and had a better season than Kurtz, McKeown, and Girma. She deserves to be recognized for the work she does for once in her life and get an end of season awards shout out.

Girma had a great Olympics, but this award is not for the Olympics. She was the leader of a defense that gave up 35 goals and had 13 losses this season. Sorry you cannot be nominated for DOTY awards with numbers like that. I love Naomi but her name and the Olympics is doing way too much here.

McKeown has been a perfectly serviceable centerback. Not terrible, but not otherworldly. The story of her getting converted from a forward to a defender is doing a lot of the heavy lifting. That in itself should piss people off because Washington had two top centerbacks and if they hadn’t let the Marks trade both of them they wouldn’t need to make Tara a defender.

Kurtz was also serviceable, not anything special beyond her now have the minutes played record which should still be Sam Staab’s if not for Chicago’s shitty grass. Ten losses away from home for NC and a pretty bang average season overall.

Anyways, justice for Emily Sonnett and fuck the Marks always.

25 appearances, 25 starts, 91%+ pass accuracy (only DPOY nominee over her is Naomi who has 1% more). She’s been Gotham’s most consistent CB with several partners (she’s had almost every single defender on Gotham beside her at some point). Absolutely nasty and insane work for her to not get a nom.
