Oh sure, everyone loves Jason Todd because heās such a tragic and suffering badass. They love how he was so close to Bruce but felt like Bruce abandoned Jason, let him down, and replaced him with another partner. They love his tough backstory growing up in poverty. They love his former idealism back in the good old days, even when that idealism crossed Batmanās moral boundaries in the name of the greater good. They love that Jason is so traumatized and unstable after his attack that they embrace him even at his worst. They love him becoming a mob boss, killing untold numbers of people with his twin pistols, creating more orphans in his wake, because they feel for his pain. They love him even while ignoring his bad stories, understanding that some writers simply donāt understand what makes him great, especially those stories that go out of their way to make him a villain. Most of all, they love the mutual, strained love between him and Batman, who never stops holding out hope that Jason will come back to him and not succumb to darkness again. They love Jason for all of that.

The general batman fandom lowkey ignores two-face as a character in favor for,, like Eddie and Jonathan. I love Two Face, but I hate almost all Two Face stories. Mostly because they always make me feel so much pain. Two Face pts. 1 and 2 and Second Chance were the only episodes of Batman the animated series that focused on Two-Face specifically, and they're both so depressing to watch. Batman always defeats Two Face by exploiting his mental illness and his comfort item. Batman takes his coin, replaces it with a trick coin or makes him nearly lose it. It's cruel. This man might be a criminal, but he is also a human being with emotions. Taking his comfort item and his one prized possessionā¦ that's inhumane. It makes me feel pain watching his episodes, sometimes.
And the thing is: I love two face as a villain. I want way more tv shows with him on them. I want to see him as a recurring antagonist. But I want to see him also not be defeated the same way every time. He shouldn't be constantly bested via deprivation of his comfort item; something the man literally can't seem to live without. Don't mock the use of the coin. It helps him. It keeps him from feeling indecision. I envy that. Indecision is painful and hard to deal with. By leaving it up to chance, he may actually be more free of stress then me. I don't see why we're mocking this character for his lifestyle choices when he's clearly somewhat stable because of them.
Do you want to see him deprived of his comfort items? In pain as he loses his sense of internal stability? Because it feels like that's what people want. And that makes me so angry and uncomfortable. I hate it. We deserve better stories for two face, and I can't be the only one who feels this way. We need to write about him in a way that doesn't make his only defeat method "giving him a mental breakdown and a panic attack." Because it's justā¦so, so inhumane. I hate it.

no matter if you're a goon, a gothamite or a fellow rogue, you will have a seriously hard time with these bad boys. (no seriously.)
they are intensely guarded. both of them are going to be defensive and keep their heart armoured to the nines.
they will act like a fighting dog, hostile and gnashing at the bit. any hand that comes near will leave with less fingers than it reached out with.
after multiple heartbreaks and even a divorce. they feel like they're unlovable. a hideous thing both inside and out. their bitterness towards the world has reached their soul leaving it corrupted and damaged.
when you come along he will keep you at arms length. you can't come near. neither of them will let you.
it will start slowly with small nods at your input for schemes and a clear distinction of you from others around him. although the coin still gets its own input on things.
as a person you'd better be darn resilient. they're angry and violent at times. never towards you, but their goons and furniture know no peace. they will scream and shout and you need to be able to weather this storm. regularly.
once you've crawled your way oh so stubbornly into their heart and you're more than friends or cohorts, you're not getting out.
you will be by their side always.
affection starts slow with every touch being resisted, but even more so if you try touch his scarred side. Harvey is more willing to touch, but Harv is as mean as always.
expect some internal battling between the two. harv will think Harvey is being far too naĆÆve or vulnerable but Harvey will think harv's being too harsh and cold. this is where the coin comes in.
the coin is VERY prevalent in the start of your relationship. a physical symbol of their bickering.
you want to hold hands? that's a flip.. you want to.. *gulp* ..kiss? that's a super big flip!
this is early relationship though. once you've worn down the scarred part of their heart, harv's all in doll. you're theirs now.
this means at parties, meetings, schemes or even in front of their goons you're glued to their side (depending on the flip, depends on what side.)
they will adore you. no matter your views of yourself, they're allll for you. sometimes you'll catch them looking at you in sheer awe on how you're still here, how you managed to be here in the first place and how lucky they are.
they are extremely protective of you. penguin will get two shots to his knobbly little knees if he even looks at you the wrong way, and sionis is getting many a threat from them, be it calls or his own men getting shipped to his doorstep if he dares look at you at all.
lots of pda will be displayed to claim their territory.
as far as they're concerned you are another commander of their troops. their left and right hand person.
they adore you. no influence or warnings from the bat will deter you at this point.
you're their ALL. you will be. they did not need the coin to solidify this in their mind.

Harvey is such a gentleman. He cares for his partner. He would do anything to see them safe. He would let them know just how much he loves them, through words, actions, giftsā¦
Two Face is a bit rough around the edges. He wonāt vocalize his feelings but he sure does show them. Someone gets too close to you? Two Face has his arm around you, pulling you into his side. Someone makes a comment about you? Two Face is threatening their life.
Harvey wants to take things slow. He wants to properly date, he wants to be sensual, passionate, he wants to make love.
Two Face takes it fast. Two Face wants it hot, rough, vicious, and vulgar. He wants to fuck.
Itās a constant, never ceasing battle in Dentās mind. Two Face often wins out in the end. But occasionally Harvey shows enough restraint to do what Harvey wants.
