He’d arrived as a young boy, dressed in slightly too big robes so he had to roll the hems over. His father had nodded at him whilst his mother kissed his forehead before they departed. Neither had looked around as he stood there waving at their backs. Ben could feel the other children’s eyes upon him and went to meet their gazes. Yet each quickly glanced away when he did, curving into one another and whispering words he could not hear. His uncle's hand was heavy upon his shoulder as he steered Ben away from the sight of his parents to the hut which he would now call home.
