You should be able to say “don’t touch me” to anyone ever in any context and not have it be considered in the realm of surprising or insulting imho if we ever needed to normalize something it’s this

If you were handcuffed to your girl blorbo with magical unbreakable handcuffs for 24h, would you be okay with this?
I trust her, I’ll be fine
I trust her, but it’ll be a stressful 24h
It depends on what kind of day we’re having
This is gonna suck…
Other/nuance
I love it when folks get the "-ist" and "-est" suffixes mixed up. Like, I'm fully prepared to believe that you're medieval, but medievalest? That's a bold claim!
#that character is NOT your 'specialist princess' unless you can tell me right now what they specialize in (via @jennynext)
btw if i was doing the modern carrie retelling. i wouldn't do what the guy is doing. but i would make carrie's mother still religious and abusive but she's also one of those fundie influencers who mommyblog and post their kids. and when carrie gets her period it's not at school but it's a tiktok her mother made about it that everyone sees. and carrie explodes every person's phone who looked at it and it blows up in their face. and she's still fat
there’s very few things that drive me up the wall in fandom as much as this weird new assumption that fandom is primarily a space for younger people that older folks are only accepted into in a trial basis if they promise to centralize and accommodate younger fans, and further, anything else is creepy and predatory. IT’S OKAY FOR ADULTS TO PRODUCE CONTENT FOR OTHER ADULTS.
if I have to read “women in their 30s” used as an insult one more time I swear I’ll - step away from that user and just hang out with the other grownups who consistently create good content because I’m also an adult and too busy comparing car insurance to fight with teenagers on the internet, but goddAMMIT I’ll be annoyed
I’ve been in this hole since yall lil shits were three apples tall and I’ll die in this hole too

Public Service Announcement: If you'd like to have Microsoft Word but are troubled by quite open enshittification, LibreOffice Writer is available for all your needs!!!!!!
Writers, which software do you use?
Google docs
Microsoft word
Ellipsus
Libre office - writer
Notepad (the fuck is wrong with you lol)
Pages
Other (comment, please, esp if you recommend it)

I used to use Google docs, but the white mode only was really annoying me (tires my eyes), so I swapped to Ellipsus (which I genuinely love and recommend), but it was bothering me a bit that I need wifi in order to use it, so now I switched to LibreOffice Writer, which I do like.
It very much has a Microsoft Word feel, but is open source and you need no accounts to use it. It's local on your device, so no AI can scan it, and no wifi is needed.
I still wish it had the Google Docs cards, because, bitch, that thing is so good for easy organizing.
loustat if they could tweet, probably [part 1/?]

OCism is also killing good writings. Because writers are creating characters first before having themes and goals. That's why your story sucked.
You have a character sheet and all sorts of details but you can't write a plot to save your life. Your pacing is dogshit.
This is one of the mildest opinions I have about writing. You people are absolutely not ready for my truly scathing takes. Stay strong.
Just told my friend that we are not going to have a Tolstoy of the 21st century because everyone treats their novels and stories like a game of dominoes
There
Y'know how novels before the rise of fandom so often revolved around human against human, human against self, human against nature, or human against fate etc? Now, it sometimes feels as though the central conflict of any novels, genre or literary is simply human against reactions.
Characters spend the whole story reacting to whatever gets thrown at them. Someone says something, they spiral. Something bad happens, they grow. Someone betrays them, they change. Everything important comes from outside.
I think part of that comes from the obsession with writing characters people will immediately latch onto. And the plot mostly exists to give them moments to react, emote, or be shipped.
A robbery shouldn't fail because the writer needs a lesson or a dramatic twist. It should fail because these people were always going to fail. Their pride, fear, greed, loyalty, or blind spots make the outcome inevitable. The plot shouldn't be happening to the characters; it should be happening because of them.
That's what I mean by human vs reactions.

Getting down on my knees and thanking the humans who invented dishwashers and washing machines.
InsNe that dishwashers are more efficient and easier than just washing them manually but they also use less water. It’s a win win situation
They ALSO sterilize dishes, due to operating at a far higher temperature than human hands could ever tolerate. It's a win every way.
Made this post about 15 minutes after the repair guy who fixed the pump on my dishwasher packed up his tools and left, as the dishwasher was whirring along doing my dishes from that morning.
He said the exact same thing, which I did not know before that, so spreading this knowledge.
