Excited to share some super fun news! Jenna Ushkowitz is narrating Anna K for the audio book! I’m a huge fan of hers and she’s the perfect voice to bring my debut YA novel to life. I am particularly proud of ANNA K getting picked for this list. I was the quiet girl in the back row of my college gender studies classes who was never the most vocal one... but I knew one day I would have my time to say what I wanted to say. Yes, Anna K is a glitzy fun romantic novel that name drops lots of designer labels which was my intention... BUT it’s also a story about changing the narrative of how women are viewed. I made sure that the female characters spoke not just from their hearts about love, but spoke up about everything in general. There is a river of female empowerment coursing through everything I write because I was told as a teenage girl that I talked too much and laughed too loudly... now some would say those are two of my best qualities. (Okay, maybe not the overly chatty part... sometimes I may be seen as too friendly. Haha.) These days I don’t let anyone tell me who I am or how I should be... Just a few highlights from my Anna K Tuesday in New York City. My publisher let me take over their Insta stories for 24 hours @flatiron_books so Jordan, Hannah (my husband’s little sister @hannahkloepfer !) and I visited locations found in the book visited by Anna and her friends: Bergdorf Goodman, Serendipity3, St. Regis Hotel tea salon and we made a special stop at the glamorous offices of Sunday Forever where we discussed the Anna K/ Sunday Forever Valentine’s Day Sweepstakes where one lucky reader is going to have a chance to get to read Anna K early and do it in their very own gorgeous Sunday Forever robe! Jagged Little Pill is a very important album to me. Our anniversary officially started at 3PM PST (I had a deadline to turn something in at 2PM)!! It’s been 4 years since we eloped in Vegas with our best friends as witnesses. The bride wore white sneakers! It’s the fruit and flower anniversary, husband got me 4 dozen roses (I felt so fancy!) and a bunch of plays (ie: Phoebe Waller Bridge and Martin McDonough plays, since they’re a couple too!) But my fav is the painting he did for me of Marc Antony and Cleo — our favorite cartoon couple- it’s the cartoon I showed him when we met in 2014! *fun fact, Anna K’s horse is named Marc Antony for this cartoon dog in the book* / I got husband new floral swim trunks and a secret surprise. #staytuned We are VERY lucky to have found each other!
