Have tickets to see Odyssey in 70mm this week.
While I can’t remember the last time I saw something in 70mm. I do remember the first time I did.
My dad took us to see Alien in 70mm when it first released.
Asked my hubby, he remembers seeing Lawrence of Arabia on 70mm. That would be amazing!!!
I got Apple TV. Watched an episode of Monarch Legacy. Omg so good. Cast is insane. Watch an episode of Severence. Also insanely good with an insane cast. Watch ep 2 of both series. Now binging Severence. And I saw this as someone who has a Godzilla collection.
Saw a blue tailed skink on my porch this am.
And …
My cats whiskers looked adorable in the morning light coming though our windows.
And…
I finally got a photo of one of the massive train yards in Chattanooga. There multiple yards in Chatt, but I believe this is the biggest. Not a lot of trains today. And the building blocks the view of the other side of the yard which is just as big.
I e decided to watch older movies with stars I’ve never seen before. So glad I am doing this.
Tonight’s movie was Zou Zou. Mostly because it is what I could access on streaming of Ms Baker’s.
It is a very good movie. Baker is amazing in it. She is super talented with a great voice.
The plot, simple but not fantastic. But as a good introduction to her, worth seeing. The TCM version I saw includes an interview of her from the 1940s which was interesting.
I had ice cream yesterday called beso de angel, angel’s kiss. It was yummy, had raisins, nuts and marshmallows in it.
Flowers in my garden
Plus one that wasn’t
I now understand why knit embroidered flowers look a lot like starfish.
Old fashioned style. Fun experiment on this vest.
Cat
Just watched citizen Kane for the first time. It’s excellent.
My son kept staring at me. We think the character Jedediah Leland may be partially based on my grandfather Jedediah Shaw who was a theater manager and play producer during the period when Mankeiwicz was a drama critic for the NY Times.
His humor. His going to Chicago to work at a paper there, all fits. Plus, how many Jedediah’s could there be.
My cat owns me.
Could not leave our house this morning because an absolutely beautiful spiderweb was blocking the way. It went from the ceiling to the floor. Huge. Took a while to capture it. We were really sad we had to take it down. Hopefully it will build another some place less, inconvenient. We appreciate its effort to help protect our house though. Had to be almost 4 feet across not including the stabilizing lines.
Broads . Her name is Hilda.
Watching a smoke soap bubble float along the ground is very triggering a … the prisoner sort of way.
Morning walk
Also
It is crazy to watch a movie from 1930 starring an actor my grandfather used to be the agent for.
The movie: Moby Dick
The actor: John Barrymore.
What is crazy is this is this first time I’ve seen a movie starring Barrymore.
The basic sensation is … I’m watching an actor who was friends with my grandfather before the film was made in 1930, who I never met. And it’s because of my grandfather this guy was in this move.
Crazy.
I'm quite pleased with this limerick
Chattanooga Horn Authority At the river was a priority. We got us some dogs. And danced right along. The groove they put down had sonority.
This is part of my limerick a day project I'm doing for myself. Just - noting what I did on any particular day - by writing a limerick about it.
Why? Because.
