Connor
Connor had to fight for his first breath and each day he continues to fight to overcome his limitations. Connor is about a young teen with Autism and his struggle in life even from the first day he was born.
I am very passionate about creating this film as it is a very personal subject to me. The story follows Connor’s journey into the world and his struggles that he faces with Autism which is a very inspirational piece. I wanted to share this story so that my audience could feel grateful for what they have in their lives and to express that they should fight hard for what they want.
Connor is a short film / sequence of a larger film called 'Fantasy Reality', a film about the Casey family who live with 3 Autistic sons, each facing and overcoming their limitations in life. The film will explore the stereotypes of Autism and show how each boy is different and unique. Fantasy Reality will be coming later this year.
This project was a bit of a struggle for me. We were tasked with producing our very own independent short documentary film. We were to find our own contributors, produce and director our unique idea for our latest university module. We had a few specifications, such as a time limitation of 3-5 minutes. I am not incredibly interested in documentary film making and struggled with the production of this on many different levels but still enjoyed creating such a personal and inspiring piece and hope I did the Casey family and their story proud.
I want to give a shout out to my incredible crew; Ben Will Roberts and Hollie Jane Williams. Without you guys I never would have pulled this together. I appreciate you both and all your hard work so much! Also a shout out to Marc Casey, Angela Casey, Steven Casey, Connor Casey and Declan Casey for letting me into their home and being brave enough to be in front of the camera and share their story with me and the world.
Keep a look out for Fantasy Reality coming later this year!
Enjoy!
