I really need to work, but let me add: one of the main points viewers, specifically non-Black viewers, should’ve taken away from the bank scene was that no matter how famous you are or well known you are, you’re still likely to encounter racism at all levels as a Black person. I thought they were hitting you guys over the head with it given the fact that the loan officer was taking selfies with Sam while talking down to him and Sarah, but apparently I have to spell it out for you. You can be an Avenger - you can be The Falcon - and still be forced to deal with micro aggressions as well as overt racism in your daily life. Remember when that shop worker in Switzerland refused to show Oprah a handbag cause she didn’t think Oprah’s Black ass had any business in the store? She is literally a world famous billionaire and it still cut no ice! So just marinate on that for a minute.

Like… This post isn’t about forgetting a name/age because of memory loss, social anxiety or dyslexia. This post is specifically about how Straight Men aren’t involved enough in their kid’s education and well-being. It’s about the inequity of gender roles, and how men aren’t expected to care too much about their children.

We have a concept for this in French: “la charge mentale” (the mental load). It explains how women are expected to do all the chores and to remember everything which is relevant about the children’s development, while the men just… aren’t.
