I sooo agree. It was much more emotional than the book lead on. But I guess that's Hollywood for ya haha. I really enjoyed watching this movie though. All in all I have enjoyed this class very much so.

Post 14- last one people:)!!!

So I hope everyone is having fun working on their paper (or at least getting started) and having a good weekend. So I loved the movie probably because it put my images of the movie on a big screen. But something's did confuse me a little in the sense that why include some things in the movie like the father getting shot in the leg of its not in the book. It didn't really have any part. It didn't make a difference but that is just me. I cried during the movie I'm not going to lie and it was a really sad ending but it was good over all. I hope everyone has enjoyed this class as much as I did. I have loved the groups that we have worked in and getting to know some of you. Thank you Mrs. Clark for making this class a lot more fun than I was expecting. Everyone have a great Christmas and a happy new year!

I am not even sure what to write since we only had one day of class. However, I am excited to watch the movie in class this week!  The Road was such a good book so I am looking forward to seeing how they took the book and interpreted it for the movie.  It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.  I am still trying to finish my paper.  Like Trent said, it has been a busy week.  I have been trying to motivate myself to get it done but it just has not been working out very well!

So this book was not at all what I expected. It was so slow starting out and yes at first I just wanted to get by, by reading here and there but once I really got in to it I couldn't do that. The way that the story flowed was probably my favorite. It seemed really easy to follow along and I loved the structure. It was so easy to get lost in it because there are no chapters. I really didn't think I was going to like this book because of the book we read before this. I thought it was going to be even more complicated than the last one. So I was not looking forward to it at all. But I am so glad that I got up the "courage" to read it.

I totally agree. I was really expecting not to like it at all. But turns out I really enjoyed it. And it does take motivation to read something that is so slow to actually start even if you are 20 pages into the book. I have enjoyed the relationship between father and son and how they worked together but mostly the father to make sure they were both taken care of.

I have really enjoyed this book. I was not looking forward to reading it only because of the fact that I am not a fan of reading. But to be honest I have loved this book. It has a weird liking of adventure and not knowing where the next meal is going to come from. It was not at all what I thought it was going to be. I was maybe picturing a road trip maybe but nothing like this. One thing that I can say that I like about the book is no names. To me it seems a lot easier to follow along with if its not saying he said she said. But then sometimes I can get lost at who is talking when it just has dialogue. But overall I'm looking forward to reading more of this book.

As much as I was dreading this book, I’m glad we started it! The book so far is really good, i wasn’t expecting it to be like this. The way that the book is constructed is great. I never noticed how weird it is to not have chapters, yet it doesn’t even bother me. Plus only having 2 characters to worry about it pretty nice considering “A visit from the goon squad” who had like 45.

I agree is was something that I was not looking forward to reading only because of the fact that I just don't like reading haha. But I have really enjoyed this book and it was a little strange not to have chapters and if you don't pay attention to where you are in the book it can be really easy to get lost in reading not realizing that you have read more than recommended.

So who was the main character? Was it Sasha or Bennie? This book made little sense, defiantly unlike any other book a have ever read. It so strange how the characters POV changes every chapter and how the setting and plot was completely different in every chapter and the book was all over the place. On the other hand I’m so excited about the next book. I’ve been wanting to read The Road for sometime and I was so excited when I realized we would be reading it in the class.

I totally agree. I don't understand who the main character is, and I did not like how I couldn't follow along with who was reading or speaking. The POV changing was probably the number one thing I hated most about this book. and of course I never knew what the setting was for either chapter I feel except for chapter six and chapter nine. Those were pretty easy to follow along with.

This book has so confused me. I never know who is talking and or what is going on. The more I read it the more I was wondering what the whole point of the book was. I still dont know what it is to be quite honest. I am just not a fan of this book at all. 

Although I did like the power point. That was easy to follow. Well, I think that was the one section out of the entire book that I actually did'nt mind reading. I am just wondering where the idea came for someone to write a book that is so confusing. I hope to not read another one like this ever again and I am hoping that the next one is easy to follow and understand. Can't wait to watch the movie to it either.

This week we started A visit from the goon squad. So far to be honest the book is really boring. I don’t know why it think its probably because of the structure of the book. Yet certain chapters are not that bad. I really enjoyed chapter 6, 7, and 8. Those were really interesting to read....

I really have to agree Theresa. I DO NOT like this book at all. I really sometimes dont even understand what is going on at all. I feel like I am reading greek sometimes. But I also enjoyed chapters 6&7 because they were the only 2 chapters that I feel like I could really understand and follow. Those chapters I feel didnt jump around from perspectives as much as the other chapters have I guess is why I was able to understand them better. 

It is really hard to follow something that wont stay put which is what I feel the author will not do. But hopefully it gets better but I highly doubt it. See you in class:)

This week reading Visit From The Goon Squad was not my favorite. I really have not enjoyed reading this book at all. I don't like getting confused while reading a book because it really makes me not want to read the book at all. I really did enjoy the chapters 6 and 7 though. Those weren't too bad. It was really easy to understand what was going on with Bennie and Scotty. And Scottys feelings toward Bennie. 

But other than that I really did not enjoy starting and continuing to read this book. I know that we go over it in class but sometimes I feel like I am so confused that even going over it in class doesnt really make it any better. Hopefully it will get better.

Generation X and Imago were not my favorite stories to read.  I just don’t like sci-fi things all that much.  I understand how the authors were trying to relate back to fairytales and things like that but other than that it was just really hard for me to read.  I’m looking forward to starting A Visit From the Goon Squad though, it seems like it is going to be a good book, so hopefully I can get into reading it.

Ok so I'm sure that I am not the only one but these two last reading generation X and imago were not my favorites at all. It was confusing on imago With all the sci-fi going on. So I never wish to read that again haha. However for generation X, it was weird to read but there were parts in it that I found myself laughing. He learned to just keep his mouth shut in order to get what he wanted. The whole thing was bizarre but in a way it was interesting to read.

This midterm exam review I think helped me remember back to all the little things that we have read. Of course I remember the novels but we read so many little things, seeing them on the board reminded me that I probably need to go back and re read them. Haha. I really like how professor Clark is setting this up. I feel like this study guide was very helpful in knowing exactly what to expect and remind you that if you aren't familiar with the material it might be a good idea to reread them. Working in the ground so though was not a challenge for me because I am used to working with individuals all the time. But I liked getting to know the people in my group.

The book definitely had a strange ending from what I was expecting! But I enjoyed this book a lot better. Throughout the whole book the title was used and had me wondering where was this taking us? What did this title have tied into the book? It had a lot of symbolic value once the book began on its way. I like how finally we figured out what the key went too. But at the same time I was disappointed that it wasn’t something big or crazy it was just the safe box.

I was really relieved about figuring out what the key went to as well. I was upset though that we didn't figure out what was in it and how it left the reader confused on the contents. But other than that I guess the book was ok. I wasn't quite understanding how the title was used in some content and to me something's it didn't make sense to me.

I am loving this book way more than I intended to! Oskar is just adorable; I find him to be very quirky and intelligent beyond his days! The fact he really does understand everything going on around him but sometimes doesn’t register emotions that well is intriguing to me. I find the parts when he speaks about bruising especially hard to read, even though they are only a couple sentences. His inventions also make me like him even more. My favorite so far is the invention about the Reservoir of Tears. I guess since I have had some times when I can relate to this invention is what made me so drawn to it. Surprisingly it is very easy for me to keep up with the way the book is written. I love that it isn’t the typical  ”He said…. She said….” Today I have not been able to put this book down, but that was probably also attributed to the gloomy day we’ve had today. Also,  I do regret is watching this movie. I watched the movie when it first came out with no intention of reading the book and in certain parts I catch myself trying to remember and compare it to the movie. I ALWAYS make a point to read the book before I see the movie and unfortunately this time I can’t do that. I don’t remember a lot but as soon as I finish the book I want to watch the movie and pick out all the differences and similarities. 

One very interesting thing I remember from class on Wednesday was when we discussed the falling man. I can not imagine if I were to be put in the situation of the people who had to jump due to fire and such. Let alone being one of the family members trying to identify my loved ones through footage of them jumping to their death. It is truly heartbreaking.
