14. sleeping in and spending time at home/in your dorm because you don’t work a full job yet
15. dinner nights that involve cooking with fellow student friends and drinking cheap wine on weekdays

What Really Happened in Peru:
Summary: This one describes all of Magnus’s adventures and mishaps in Peru, but we ultimately never find out what got him banned.
I really liked seeing all three warlocks in this one! Especially since we don’t get to see much of Ragnor in the series and we only really see Catarina in Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy
The Runaway Queen:
Summary: Magnus tries to help Marie Antoinette escape France
Not my favorite, but it was funny seeing elements of history intertwined with Magnus’s life!
Vampires, Scones, & Edmund Herondale:
Summary: Shadowhunters kind of suck in this one (except for Edmund, who technically leaves)
HERONDALE? For a second, I got a little too excited that this was Will
It also made me really angry that they literally threw away the plates that the Downworlders used because they thought they were “tainted”
The Midnight Heir:
Summary: James Herondale is struggling, but at least we get to see WILL AND TESSA AND JEM!!!
After reading Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy, it was really sad to see James struggling with his identity & his powers, especially after we saw how Will pushed everyone away in The Infernal Devices
I loved Tessa’s description of how Tessa, Will, and Jem all share their love and it was just a beautiful way to talk about their love ok
The Rise of the Hotel Dumort:
Summary: Great Depression begins
Eh, not my favorite, but it was really interesting to see the Shadow World & its perspective on mundane life!
Saving Raphael Santiago:
Summary: Raphael is a new vampire, and Magnus helps him adjust (and not kill himself)
I kept remembering that both Ragnor and Raphael died, and it made me a little sad because reading about them made me very invested in their lives
Also, it amazed me how hard Raphael worked to be with his family again, and the level of self-control he had
The Fall of the Hotel Dumort:
Summary: Vampires are going crazy because they’re drinking drugged blood.
Don’t do drugs!!
I was really surprised to see at the end that Magnus chose to have Catarina erase his memories
Also glad that Raphael was smart enough to leave and not get involved!
What to Buy the Shadowhunter Who Has Everything (And Who You’re Not Officially Dating Anyway):
This was SO cute
My favorite part is when he calls all his friends while there’s a demon in his apartment, and the demon is making little side remarks
AND THEN ALEC SHOWS UP
The Last Stand of the New York Institute:
When Rachel took the blade for Magnus???
Okay, I totally forgot that this was the story where Jocelyn comes to him at the end, and I was 100% crying while reading the exchange
And when Jocelyn chose Fray as her last name?????
The Course of True Love (And First Dates):
I think this was my favorite one out of all the novellas--Alec definitely wasn’t my favorite character during the first couple books of The Mortal Instruments series, but seeing his personality as he interacted with Magnus was really reminiscent of when he did become one of my favorite characters during City of Heavenly Fire.
honestly he was so cute and shy and nervous but also really kind of badass during the fight scenes???

anyone else feel like they missed the entire month of october.
