So this has been stuck in my head ever since I heard it three days ago.
this is the polar opposite of Everybody Knows Shits Fucked
98% of the time, the “overwatch’s lore and timeline is full of inconsistencies and makes no sense” narrative boils down to “you’re assuming something you were never actually given a reason to assume” or “something in an update contradicts a piece of fanon you mistook for canon”
For example:
Nobody ever said this picture was from 30 years ago:
or that it depicts the founding of Overwatch. People assumed that for their own insane reasons that I can’t wrap my head around.
Nobody ever said or even implied Mercy was a founding member of Overwatch, but people assumed she was and then claimed that her being 37 in the “present day” makes the timeline not make sense unless she’s secretly immortal
Nobody ever said Gabriel didn’t have his ghostlike abilities during his Blackwatch days, in fact, all the lore and in-game content seems to explicitly show the opposite. People assumed that he died and got his powers when he came back, when actually all the lore articles and his appearances in the actual game suggest that his powers were the reason he survived (albeit severely disfigured).
No official content said or even implied that Mercy had a hand in Gabriel’s resurrection or current condition! People assumed this based on voicelines in-game (”I never intended this for you, Gabriel” “You knew exactly what you were doing, doc”) that shockingly never existed. That exchange is not, and never was, in the game. Lots of people (myself included) distinctly remember hearing it, but guess what, we’re remembering wrong. Mercy actually asked “What happened to you?” and he replies “You tell me,” which suggests nothing about nothing.
Blizzard’s writing has its problems for sure but “I have terrible reading comprehension and mistake my failure to understand the information presented to me for plotholes” isn’t one of them

I say this every time I argue for raising the minimum wage. I never hear anyone else say it and I’m glad I found this.
If you build your business and your bonus on the backs of others who you don’t pay a living wage you don’t deserve to be in business.
this is making capitalists bleed from the ears keep reblogging it
Since I tend to get into this with people who argue that robots will replace minimum wage workers if they get too expensive, I like to lean into the robot metaphor.
If you have a machine performing a valuable talk for your company, the upkeep of that machine is part of your operating cost. You have to pay to power it, to upgrade it, to fix it when it breaks. And if you can’t afford the machine, the manufacturer doesn’t have to do business with you. They’re free to take their service somewhere else where they think the price is fair.
For humans, a living wage is the operating cost. If you can’t afford to pay your worker enough to live nearby, feed themselves, and get basic health care - all of which are things they need in order to be able to work for you - you’re failing to pay for the cost of their service.
The difference is that humans have to eat, like, all the time, so they often don’t have the option of taking their business somewhere else if the price isn’t fair - even insufficient food and shelter is better then starving on the street. But that means those people are not really able to act as agents in a free market, and it’s easy to exploit them under the guise of “the market setting the price.” People can’t act like reasonable economic agents when they’re desperate. As for as I can tell, that’s the whole point of having a minimum wage.
Keep reblogging this, it’s making capitalists mad and reaching out to the working class

A friend of mine made me draw Widowmaker and reaper in Cueca’s outfits (a folklore Chilean dance), and I’m laughing so much, I would never regret drawing this.

A restaurant in my home town makes this amazing Italian Mac with fresh tomato and basil, and I’ve finally figured out how to copy it!!
Ingredients
3 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
2 cups milk
1 box cavatappi (or another pasta with lots of curves and crevices for cheese), cooked and drained
2 cups italian cheeses (fresh mozzarella, parmesan, asiago, provolone - whatever you have in your fridge; those bags of shredded italian cheese are great) cubed or shredded into small pieces
fresh tomato, diced
fresh basil
2+ cloves of garlic
Steps
preheat oven to broil setting
melt butter in sauce pan over med-low heat, mix in flour, stirring until bubbly (add some salt and pepper if you like)
SLOWLY stir in milk a little bit at a time, waiting until it is fully absorbed by the rue before adding in more (if you don’t do it gradually your mac will be gritty)
after all milk is poured in, stir frequently until mixture thickens (congrats! youve just made Bechamel sauce!!), then pour in cheese, stirring in about a half cup at a time while it melts in
roast some garlic in a skillet(cast iron is ideal) with a bit of oil until fragrant (if not using cast iron/a oven safe skillet, transfer into an oven safe dish)
pour in cooked pasta, diced tomato, chopped basil, and sauce into dish, stirring until combined
sprinkle some more cheese on top (I like adding lots of aged parmesan) and broil in oven until top is bubbly starting to brown a little, about 5 minutes (but watch closely - brown can turn to burnt quickly!)
You can switch up the cheeses and toppings to whatever you may have in your fridge to make all kinds of different macs! experimentation is encouraged!!!
