My only post on Independence before the 18th of September...
This will be my only post on the #indyref before the 18th of September - people just bite and its taxing (even to read on other people's status'), so on you go. I've already voted. If the reason you are voting yes is that you don't like the government in the UK at the moment, they are big and mean and have brought lots of horrible cuts and chipped at us from all angles (I don't disagree with you, they have done) you don't understand politics. Every 4 years somebody is voted in and we never like everything they do regardless of who the party is and what they change or have vowed to change or how little or how long they have been there. We vote for who we vote for in Scotland too. And they also do lots of silly things. Like the trams. And it wouldn't be any different in an independent Scotland. We would vote for who we vote for, they do some stuff that we like and that we don't like, we decide we don't like them...and the majority will let someone else have a shot in the next couple of years by voting them in. Thats how it works. United or not united people have to be voted in. So why not do this with England, Wales and NI and keep strength in numbers. "The decision on whether to leave our shared country is, of course, absolutely yours alone. Nevertheless, that decision will have a huge effect on all of us in the rest of the United Kingdom. We want to let you know how very much we value our bonds of citizenship with you, and to express our hope that you will vote to renew them. What unites us is much greater than what divides us. Let's stay together." (open letter to us Scots) It is still impossible for any of us to have a well informed opinion on the referendum no matter how informed you think you are EITHER way - because we haven't been all round well informed. Even with that book. Your information may just be opinion. May be fact. May not. I would say I was a Labour supporter. But then I agree with some things the Tories do (hahaaa!) and maybe not so much Lib Dems anymore... *anymore - I have changed my mind. We do it a lot. Vote Yes or Vote No - but do vote something because your vote will change something. If you pray whatever happens happens. And it will happen again in 4 years time...and then in 4 years time...and then in 4 years time... P.s I've always had a crush on Jim Murphy. Why did he have to be covered in salmonella. Pregnant woman's nightmare. P.p.s I've got a cold so I just felt like having a rant.

"Living out a faith that states we are all created in the image of our Creator and have been saved despite our failures demands that we stand for life no matter the circumstances. Proclaim you are pro-life by voicing your opinions in grace and truth. Come to the aid of those who need healing from abortion. Pray today that people of faith will unite to make the pro-life stance more than an afterthought."

Paul Reveals His Heart
2 Corinthians 7
9 I now rejoice, not that you were made sorrowful, but that you were made sorrowful to the point of repentance; for you were made sorrowful according to the will of God, so that you might not suffer loss in anything [c]through us. 10 For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance [d]without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death. 11 For behold what earnestness this very thing, this [e]godly sorrow, has produced in you: what vindication of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, what zeal, what avenging of wrong! In everything you demonstrated yourselves to be innocent in the matter. 12 So although I wrote to you, it was not for the sake of the offender nor for the sake of the one offended, but that your earnestness on our behalf might be made known to you in the sight of God. 13 For this reason we have been comforted.
Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Praise to God for a Living Hope
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.”

Thank you Jesus!
We are down in Hawick for Christmas. Joy!
This afternoon was so special. Jordan and I went to visit his granny and papa. We were having the usual chat with them when his papa pulled out the macbook and hooked it up to the tele. He knows more about technology at 82 than we do at 22.
He played the song I've linked in this post and afterwards told us the story of Keith Green.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keith_Green
The presence of God was so strong in that house! I don't know if Jock knows how much we were touched by what he shared. My heart well and truely melted! I was in tears. The song is beautiful. Jesus is!
We spent the afternoon talking about Hawick and its need for the presence of His church, and we talked about Myra and Jock's experience of coming up to Edinburgh and coming to church with us just a few months ago.
Can I just share my huge huge gratitude for the people that serve in Destiny week in and week out. God uses you as a massive blessing to others. So friendly, so welcoming and the love of God shines through you! Myra and Jock brought it home with them and can't wait to come back up to visit the church.
Jordan & I finished off the day by watching the last in the series of The Bible. Today was an amazing day.
Jesus commands us to go!
Lamentations 3:49-51
49 My eyes will flow unceasingly, without relief, 50 until the Lord looks down from heaven and sees. 51 What I see brings grief to my soul because of all the women of my city.
Into The Wild (2007)
Why did it take me so long to watch this film? I can't believe this story is true. It is both tragic and heartbreaking - with a glimmer of hope. It is a film about a man who, in trying to shed the pain of relationships and the distractions that material possessions bring, gives all of his savings ($20,000) to charity and sets off penniless to a "simpler" life lived out in the wild. In Alaska. On his journey to Alaska, God put people of huge influence on his path. One of whom, Jon Krakauer, said this to him:
“When you forgive, you love. And when you love, God’s light shines upon you.”
Man what a journey. 2 things I can take from this film...
Relationships are key. It is not good for man to be alone!
"We are not made for self-sufficient aloneness." (J.I.Packer)
And the importance of forgiveness. Which is in some cases easier said than done. But wholly worth it.
"Unforgiveness is like drinking poison and hoping the other person dies." (Nicky Gumbel)
