Let's not forget financial and other aids for children, youths and disabled people also being cut. For example for trained people accompanying disabled children so they can attend regular schools, giving them a better shot at getting an education, a job, etc.
Not to mention that the added insecurity of high inflation, high job insecurity where even the government itself has severely reduced the number of jobs and stopped hiring entirely in some departments, the erosion of what used to already be a rather basic social security net -only made more humane as Bürgergeld but we can't have the poor being treated as human beings, no sir, shame and pressure and the whip, amirite?-, zero interest in fixing the extremely overinflated prices for renting AND buying (let's face it - not a problem in his inner circle because they both have that kind of money and already own more than enough properties [evil tongues might hint at them also being landlords renting for such prices but I disgress]), the not-so-subtle stirrings of what might become a full-blown and potentially global war, not to forget the rise of fascism and nazism, climate change, erosion of privacy, enshittification of medical coverage (shout-out to midwives to name just one very relevant group)...
Look, Germany is currently in a very shitty situation (yes, I am aware others have it even worse, but we are focusing on Germany here) that in all honesty does not allow for the stability that leads to higher birthrates. And Mr. Merz & Co heap and heap onto that insecurity. Because he and his peers fail or don't want to understand that human beings are not numbers but, guess what, human beings. And human beings, just like literally any other animal, thrive in stability and security.
