FLORENCE PUGH, NONBINARY, THEY/THEM || just saw JOSEPHINE "JOSIE" ELLIS around town. i think theyâre 24 years old and have been here for 24 YEARS. THEY are a BARTENDER here in san diego and seem to be BUBBLY and OPTIMISTIC. but iâve heard theyâre also DITZY and FORGETFUL, i guess thatâs because theyâre a SAGITTARIUS. they really seem to have VINTAGE ROLLERSKATES, STRAWBERRY LEMONADE, and STARGAZING ON THE ROOF vibes.
Josie was born in tandem with their twin brother Jude on December 7th, 1997, to parents who thought having another kid(s) would save their marriage. it âworkedâ for a few years, but the pair split when Josie and Jude were four years old.
right from the start, Josie was a glitter bomb of a person. they were fun, energetic, and always found a way to look on the brighter side of things. this made them a little bit out of place in their household, with two more subdued brothers and a mother that rarely put forth energy to connect with her children. it didnât dull Josieâs spark, though
as the kids lived with their mother full-time, Josie put forth all their energy into trying to have a bond with her, to very little avail. they tried their hardest in school, extracurriculars, kept the house clean, just anything to get her approval, but they just got the same blank-faced, surface level affection they always got from her. it only got worse when their mother remarried a man that wasnât very fond of his new stepchildren.
when they were 12, Jude had enough of all the fights their stepdad got into with him and moved in permanently with their father. the twins had been connected at the hip for their entire lives, so while Josie strongly considered going with him, they stuck around in a last ditch attempt to connect with their mother and stepfather. a year later, though, their younger half-sister Sadie was born, and as deeply as Josie loved her from the get-go, they had to move in with their dad too. it stung too badly to see their new sibling getting the family attention and affection they always wanted
any sourness they inherited over the constant rejection they faced faded with moderate ease once they were with Jude and their dad. they were the same hyperactive, overjoyed kid they always had been.
as soon as they graduated high school, Josieâs first move was to travel. their graduation gift from their father was an all-expenses paid trip to the destination of their choosing, so they spent the next few weeks exploring Europe and much of what it had to offer. they loved every second of it.
so rather than furthering their education, Josie found odd jobs to finance their passion for traveling. so far, theyâve been to London, Paris, Munich, Brisbane, Beijing, Shanghai, Panama, and Costa Rica, and theyâve got about five dozen other locations they dream of visiting. for now, they work as a bartender, with their father helping pay the bills while they feed themselves and save up for their dreams.
TL;DR: Josie is a lovable airhead who dreams of glitter, strawberry daiquiris, and traveling the world. theyâre a golden retriever with a pink bandana on.
Josie considers everyone their friend. you spoke to them for five minutes in line at Starbucks? boom. Josieâs friend.
Josie is non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns and gender neutral terms, but isnât entirely uncomfortable with occasional feminine terms (sister, daughter, girlfriend, etc)
collects house plants, namely succulents!
loves fast and hard. they develop crushes very, very easily and hangs onto emotional attachments
firmly believes in twin telepathy and will prove it to you with Jude if you question them
Josie has a leopard gecko named Prada and a guinea pig named Gucci
