Public Speaking, Public Opinion, Public Outreach
SECTION 1: Public Speaking
Public speaking may be hard for some, and for others it may be like a piece cake. A tip to improve public speaking is to practice it. In the eBook for our class has a lot of information and it also mentions that practicing it can help. Priscila and Margarita are really good in public speaking. They're in my group, and when we worked in our documentary I was able to see how great they where. In the documentary we each had a section in which we talked more about our topic.
There are many tips to help with public speaking, one is to practice the speech
some is going to give. With that the speaker my feel a little more confident and more relaxed. Personally, making eye contact is hard. What helps me is looking above the heads' of the audience giving the eye contact illusion. It sounds crazy, but it works for me. Eye contact is very important it makes the audience feel secure as of what one is talking about.
SECTION 2: Public Opinion
The article I chose talks about my topic, which is Hispanic Diversity in the field of Nursing. It has information about the need of Hispanics and other cultures in the field of nursing. This attracts the audience.
SECTION 3: Public Outreach
Working this semester with my topic "Hispanic Diversity in the Nursing field," and working in the documentary with my group helped me see the importance of Hispanics in the field. Not only Hispanics are needed but people from other culture too. There are many things that can be made in order to reach out to students going into the field of nursing. More information should be provided to those students.
Action should be made as soon as possible, to help improve this problem of lack of Hispanics, in the nursing field. Helping people understand the importance of cultural diversity would make a big difference and it can contribute to fixing this situation. Giving students financial help also can help them enroll in the nursing career. Just helping them fill out scholarships can help them. Also, having people from their same culture as role models can help. While I worked in my research I had to do an interview, I chose Dr. H. R. Morales. I knew nothing about his background, but wen I got to meet with him he told me a little about himself, and we had so much in common. He graduated from Bowie High School and so did I. He is Hispanic like I am. I saw him like a role model to see how a Hispanic was able to accomplish so much gave me more hope that I can also accomplish everything I want.
Some times it is hard to be by yourself on a road you are new too, but there are a lot of resources that are there to help you. Don't let a small obstacle get on your way and prevent you from succeeding, reach out for help!
