As an adult, you run into your old high school teacher at a sex shop just as they’ve grabbed their purchase.
I woke up early on my first Saturday morning off in months, reaching out for the warm, embracing body next to me. He snuggled me in closer, resting his chin against the top of my head as he stroked a hand down my back. I sighed into him, trying to sink into his warm skin.
“What time is it?” he asked groggily. I shrugged as best I could, moving to pull away from him. He tightened his arms around me. “No. Don’t leave.” I smiled, extracting myself from his arms.
“I need to get up and let the dogs outside,” I reasoned, throwing the duvet away from myself and scooting down the length of the bed. He huffed into his pillow, and I smacked his foot.
“We fell asleep reasonably early last night, there’s no way that you’re even remotely tired,” I teased, throwing on a pair of sweatpants and tying my bird’s nest hair into a bun. He snorted, rolling over into the covers. I exited the room, grinning at the tapping feet of two of our pack of dogs as they followed.
“You wanna go outside?” I asked, letting the gate to the kitchen down. The other three jumped up, tails wagging as I stepped through the smaller gate. “So much excitement! Let’s get you out and then we’ll get some food, how does that sound?” They barreled their way through the backdoor, parting ways as they all sniffed out the perfect spot to do their business. I chuckled, withdrawing back into the kitchen just as Adam stepped out of our bedroom.
“You spoil them,” he observed, heading into the bathroom and grabbing his toothbrush. I smirked.
“Says the one who takes them to work with him,” I shot back. He grinned, making room for me at the sink.
“What do you want to do today?” I shrugged, squirting toothpaste onto my brush.
“Let’s get out of the house and do something fun,” I suggested, bumping my shoulder against his. He snorted over his toothbrush.
“Fun,” he retorted. I nodded. “Okay then, lets go get brunch first, and decide from there what we’ll do.” He finished cleaning his teeth, and started brushing his hair back, focusing intently. I rinsed my mouth, watching him in the mirror.
“It’s about time for another haircut,” I pointed out. “Maybe we can do that after brunch.” He rolled his eyes and made his way back into he bedroom as I started working on my hair.
“Come on! I’m starving and you’re taking five years to get ready,” Adam yelled from the living room. I rolled my eyes, shoving my feet into my sandals and slinging my purse over my shoulder.
“I’m coming” I yelled back. “Have you even let the dogs inside yet?” There was a moment’s pause as I heard hurried footsteps and the creaking of the back door. Many little paw patters sounded through the house.
“Of course I have!” finally came the reply. I laughed, checking my reflection one more time in the mirror, before heading into the main house. He had corralled the little beasts to the kitchen, putting up the high gate to keep the smaller ones from jumping over the baby gate.
“Alright, I’m ready.” I walked over to the divider, sticking my arm over the gate to pet each dog individually. “Bye my babies. We’ll be home soon.” We made our way down to the car, having a quick argument over who would drive and where exactly we were driving to.
“I don’t know why you only ever want crepes,” Adam grumbled, pulling onto the street. I shot him a glare.
“You won driving. I get to choose where we get food. Fair and square. Besides, it’s been ages since we’ve gone to get crepes,” I argued. He mumbled under his breath, pulling onto the highway and accelerating. I snuggled into my seat, pulling out my phone to browse through social media.
We quickly ate our breakfast, groaning as we pushed our empty plates away from us. I sipped my coffee, sighing at the wonderful warmth that spread through me.
“Where to next?” Adam asked. I chewed on my lip, contemplating.
“We could go walk around the park. Only, I’d want to go get the dogs, since it’s such a beautiful day out,” I suggested. He frowned.
“That’s a lot of dogs. Besides, we don’t have enough leashes, since Tank chewed through his. I’d feel awful leaving him.” I raised an eyebrow.
“We could always stop and get another leash…” I commented. He waved me away with his hand, scratching his beard at the same time.
“Why don’t we just go on a drive? We could swing by that shop you love so much,” he replied, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively. I laughed, sitting back in my chair.
“You just want an excuse to go there,” I bated. He grinned, leaning forward.
“I don’t need an excuse. But I figured it would be a nice touch to what I have planned for us later today,” he whispered. I blushed, glancing around at the other patrons. No one paid us any mind. My hand found his, twining our fingers.
“I suppose we can make a quick stop. But after that, I want to do something outside,” I countered. He nodded, dropping cash into the checkbook and standing up.
“Let’s go then. We have the entire day ahead of us.” I laughed, allowing him to pull me to my feet and through the doors leading outside. “Do you want to walk there? It is fairly close.” I nodded, linking my arm through his.
“Sure. I can use the exercise after all of that food,” I replied. He chuckled, leading the way across the street. We made our way over to the shop, buzzing the bell to be let in. As I pursued the lacy outfits, Adam found his way over to the adult toys. I picked out a cute negligee and held it up for him to see. He raised an eyebrow.
“Where would you wear that?” he asked. I smirked.
“I’ll find a use for it,” came my retort. He chuckled, plucking a box of Japanese silk rope from the display.
“Think we’ll find a use for this?” he asked, his voice dropping to a low rumble. I felt the goosebumps rise along my arms at the promise in his voice, nodding as I bit my lip in anticipation. He smirked, walking to another display and picking up a bottle of lube. “I think we can figure something out for this as well.” I smiled softly, my fingers smoothing the lace of the lingerie I had grabbed.
“Ready?” I asked, jerking my chin towards the counter. He leaned down to kiss my lips softly, once, twice, before pulling away.
“Let’s get out of here before I buy everything,” he whispered. I laughed, leading the way. As I glanced back at him, I felt someone bump into my elbow.
“Oh my gosh, I am so sorry!” I exclaimed, turning around as I apologized. My eyebrows shot up, and a blush creeped along my cheeks as I took in the face of the person I had ran into.
“Oh, its completely fine, I wasn’t watching where I was-. Oh!” Mrs. Schaefer paused, her own face flushing a bright red. “Alexis, I- well, this is unexpected, and quite a bit embarrassing.” She twisted her hands, glancing around the shop. I shot a panicked look at Adam.
“H-how are you?” I asked, trying to mask my shock. She smiled weakly, her flush creeping down her neck.
“I’m doing well. It’s been a few years, hasn’t it?” she asked. I nodded, moving to block her view of the items Adam carried, while hiding the scant lingerie behind my back.
“Yes, it has. Are you still teaching? I haven’t been up to the school since I graduated, though I always meant to make my way back for a visit sometime,” I replied. Though I will never show my face there again, I thought to myself. She nodded, shuffling her feet.
“Yes, of course. I actually started teaching the advanced English class this year. I wish you were there for it. I did enjoy having you as a student,” she stated. I smiled, Adam clearing his throat behind me.
“Oh, Mrs. Schafer this is Adam, my boyfriend. Adam, this is my World Literature teacher from my senior year of high school,” I choked out. His face broke out into a shit-eating grin, and I knew that he would never let me live this moment down.
“Very nice to meet you,” she said, shaking his hand. He kept the items we were buying hidden behind my back and I sighed to myself in gratitude. “Well, I should get going. It was… lovely to see you.” I chuckled.
“You as well. If you need any ideas for your class, feel free to reach out to me,” I offered, silently kicking myself for the stupid offer. She smiled.
“I will keep that in mind. Have a great rest of your day.” She winked, disappearing further into the store. I let out a muffled squeal.
“BABE! THAT WAS SO EMBARRASSING!” I whisper-yelled. He laughed, putting a hand on my back and steering me to the cashier waiting to check us out.
“This day just gets better and better,” he replied. I stormed out of the shop, his laughter following me the entire way.
