@jtech21
i am about to bestow upon you the secret butter technique. i am sorry, but it is french. i am sorry again, this only works with cow butter. i am certain plant based butters wouldnât work, and alternative animal butters may or may not work
has this ever been you: you have a nicely steamed vegetable, or maybe you want to make the best butter noodles, but you know that if you put butter on those itâll just melt and you end with kind of greasy noodles or vegetables? donât you wish it was instead a luscious buttery glaze?
introducing: beurre monté
you will take a small sauce pan, and begin heating it with 1-2 tablespoons of water (use very little water) and bring it to a hard simmer or boil
turn the heat down slightly, and add Butter. how much? however much you dare. (start with 3-4 tablespoons and go from there)
you are going to either whisk Aggressively or you can pick up the saucepan, still holding it over the heat, and swirl aggressively so the butter is skating around the sides of the pan
done correctly, you will have liquid butter that is still emulsified. you have made Butter Sauce. season it with a little salt, and toss whatever you want in it.
if youâre butter splits, iâm sorry. you didnât agitate it enough to maintain the emulsion, and now you have melted butter.
you can use this knowledge to make other sauces by swapping out the water for another liquid. white wine becomes beurre blanc. red wine is beurre rogue.
you want to CUM? sweat minced shallot in a tiny bit of butter, add white wine and cook it out until itâs reduced by about half. then whisk butter in hard. a few flecks of minced thyme or fennel frond stirred thru, and you eat that with a nice seared fish? or scallop? or even shrimp? wow. you will Nut
your boxed mac and cheese game can also be elevated by cooking your pasta and making a beurre montĂ© first, tossing your pasta in that and adding the cheese packet. wow. hey; youâll cum
go forth now with this butter secret
five notes?? this is why i donât tell you all anything
hades is about being a sad gay guy in your early 20s and the power fantasy of beating the shit out of your negligent dad but also feeling guilty for not being on better terms with him
hades 2 is about being a sad gay girl in your early 20s with an identity crisis the size of a planet due to your isolated upbringing while also being weighed down by society's impossible expectations of you
we have truly come full circle
Idk where this trend of artists posting their old rvb art and captioning it [originally posted 20XX] came from but itâs the greatest thing thatâs happened to the fandom. Please do not stop
VEGETA
Possible case for Vegeta defeating bugs bunny.
Vegeta being the one to figure it out was funny as fuck
Could a homosexual lend me, an asexual, a single use of the word flaming?
YOU have obtained:

I, a flaming asexual, need someone to please call the fire department. It is an emergency.
Perfectly executed joke, no notes
In light of recent events, letâs not forget that H. Bomberguy is responsible for driving a formerly-beloved transphobic TV writer into a downward spiral that cost him his career and his family⊠all by playing Donkey Kong.
When I was a teenager and still on Neopets I was part of a pretty big Star Trek guild and eventually became part of its council, with the solemn duty of creating weekly polls. Well one day I created the poll "Which would win in a fight? Borg Cube or Death Star?". Naturally, since this was a Star Trek guild, the answer was overwhelmingly "Borg Cube", but someone did have the rationality to point out we were biased.
So I look up a pretty prominent Star Wars guild and message one of their council and ask them to poll the same question and get back to me in a week. They do, and naturally the fuckin geeks said "Death Star".
So then I look up a Stargate guild and messaged the lead council member, saying the same thing, and they get back to me almost immediately saying that the Death Star would immediately one-shot a Borg Cube but they would never be able to do it again to another Cube. And I took that wisdom back to my guild and we were mollified, and for one moment the Nerd World was peaceful.
i wonder if people outside of texas realize how genuinely traumatized many Texans are from the 2021 freeze and the grip even suspected cold spells now have on us
it's supposed to go below freezing tonight and the next few nights and it's impossible to get gas. i can't buy bread or bottled water. i know people who filled their bathtubs 'just in case'. because that winter, people died. over 200 people died bc our infrastructure failed. people froze to death in their homes. hospitals without power. no infrastructure to support the unhoused in freezing weather. people suffocated by running cars and space heaters dangerously because they were so desperate to keep warm. that sticks with you. that fear of being in the cold without power or water-- it sticks with you. it really does
anyways @ northerns and other ppl outside of texas who mock us for being 'scared of a little ice', fuck you <3
Listen, the absolute best thing about Kirk and Spock's dynamic in Star Trek: The Original Series, is the fact that when it aired, queerbaiting was literally not a thing that existed. The writers and producers would not have even fathomed of doing that shit on actual purpose. Which means that all of that homoerotic tension was totally unplanned and completely organic. Just a happy fucking accident. A byproduct of bomb ass on-screen chemistry. And I just think that that's really fucking rad.
Not people saying âFandom has always been like thisâ in that vent post I made. No. It hasnât always been like this. Fandom has NEVER been like this until recently and if you were in fandom pre-tumblr purge, pre-twitter, pre-netflix boom, pre-tiktokâŠ.then you would fucking know it was nothing like this.
We still had the drive to create. We still sold prints and charms and made zinesâŠbut it was never like this.
The introduction of streaming, binge shows that drop all at once, tiktok and vine RIP i still love u vine but you were the beginning of a particularly ugly era) creating this bite sized, quick paced âcontentâ era of creation and it bled out into fucking everything else.
Fandoms didnât die down when the show ended or the season was over. You didnât mass unfollow artist, writers or moots just because they changed fandoms. There wasnât this need to please the algorithm in order for your posts to get seen by people and enjoyed.
Fandoms used to last YEARS. Star Trek is literally the oldest running fandom out there and you got people in there that could care less about the new stuff and still have been happily prancing through their fucking fifty year old fandom today. Hell, even SPN after all itâs fuckups and shitshows has a dedicated fanbase STILL creating tons of art and fic.
There is no patience anymore. No calm feeling of taking in fandom and friends at a pace that which doesnât make you stressed and is still fun.
Do I blame fandom for this? Of course not, but people are complacent with it and start changing their vocab to accommodate and end up making the situation so deep it cant be fixed.
We call Art & Fic Content now, completely stripping the value of what it is to a level of consumerism instead of personal entertainment & community bonding.
Let OP talk, theyâre absolutely right.
âWe chose the term âasexualâ to describe ourselves because both âcelibateâ and âanti-sexualâ have connotations we wished to avoid: the first implies that one has sacrificed sexuality for some higher good, the second that sexuality is degrading or somehow inherently bad. âAsexualâ, as we use it, does not mean âwithout sexâ but ârelating sexually to no oneâ. This does not, of course, exclude masturbation but implies that if one has sexual feelings they do not require another person for their expression. Asexuality is, simply, self-contained sexuality.â
â
The Asexual Manifesto, Lisa Orlando and Barbara Getz, 1972 (via tenitchyfingers)
Oh âself contained sexualityâ makes a lot more sense of it to me than just âasexual.â It still threw me for a loop sometimes that some ace people I know can seem like super horndog but still not necessarily need the real thing to enjoy life. I guess itâs because âhornyâ and âsex driveâ are really not the same thing at all and donât automatically come together.
this is an insane way to talk about a predominantly singleplayer/co-op game, to be clear
Microtransactions and subscription based games have completely ruined video game analytics and given journalists even more brain rot than before
why do all fictional capitalists look like that
âNonbinary people donât owe you gender neutralityâ means ânonbinary people can have full beards and look 110% masc and not tuck and still be nonbinaryâ just as much as it means ânonbinary people can have long hair and wear makeup and have boobs and still be nonbinaryâ
Nonbinary does not mean âfeminine liteâ it means ânonbinaryâ
does the mortifying ordeal of being known guy know that his paragraph from a six year old NYT opinion piece about emailing pictures of goats to coworkers has become God Tier Tumblr Gospel ? like does he KNOW though
WOW thank you @inkstrangleâ for bringing it to my attention that as of last August, which is to say the chronological peak of the âmortifying ordealâ meme on tumblr, tim kreider absolutely DOES know and in fact wrote an entire brilliant essay reflecting on the phenomenon:
But what I wish I could tell all those children of the internet, holed up in their rooms, isolated online, is that they can only imagine the worst of relationships: they think that what another person will learn about them is what they see in themselves â the squirming, icky, insecure mess inside. They donât know yet that the ways in which theyâre secretly screwed up and repulsive are boringly ordinary. The issue isnât that youâll be despised for who you really are â that, as a friend and I used to say about girls we were dating, âsheâll realize.â Itâs scarier than that: itâs that you lose control over who you are. Other people get to decide. And it may turn out that youâre not who you thought you were.
As an artist, you donât get to decide why people love your work. [âŠ] I would describe my reaction to seeing my writing reanimated as meme as ânonplussed,â maybe âbemused.â It always does some slight violence to a writerâs intentions to yank a sentence out of its context and present it as if it were a complete, isolated thought, like a maxim or commandment. I am not in the business of pretending to be in possession of any wisdom, or of telling other people what to do: this is the realm of self-help and advice writers â in other words, of charlatans. Part of me worries itâs an indictment of my prose that it should lend itself so well to Tumblr memes, the digital equivalent of needlepoint samplers. [âŠ]
But the things people love about you arenât necessarily the things you want to be loved for. They decide they like you for reasons completely outside your control, of which youâre often not even conscious: itâs certainly not because of the big act you put on, all the charm and anecdotes youâve calculated for effect. (And if your act does fool someone, it only makes you feel like a successful fraud, and harbor some secret contempt for them â the contempt of a con artist for his mark â plus now youâre condemned to keep up that act forever, lest she Realize.) My last girlfriend found my flaws, the things that annoy even me about me, amusing. When you break up with someone, you donât just lose them, but a version of yourself. You donât even get to know what your children will remember you for; it probably wonât be what you thought were the important moments. [âŠ]
As The Velveteen Rabbit teaches, we donât become fully real except in other peopleâs eyes, and in their affections. At some point you have to accept that other peopleâs perceptions of you are as valid as (and probably a lot more objective than) your own.
As someone who frequently deals with âdo not PERCEIVE meâ vibes, this is an essential read.
this is like just a fourth of a whole musical medley addressing that you canât live like the simpsons anymore. harsh :(
