A closer look at Vuhl 05 | Vuhl

Lotus, KTM and Caterham aren’t the only ones making open cockpit rides you can slide into anymore. Mexico is getting in on the game with their first supercar, the Vuhl 05. The brainchild of two industrial designer brothers with a father who spent over three decades in the racing scene, Vuhl—the name stands for “vehicles of ultra-lightweight and high performance”—is producing one hell of a road-legal lightweight supercar in the Vuhl 05. 152 mph. 285 bhp. 310 lb/ft of torque. All that is packed into a car that weighs just over 1,500 pounds and involves parts and designs from Mexico, America, Britain, Canada and Italy. We can’t wait to see what they come up with next.

Casa T Studio Arquitectos

Casa T is a private residence composed of three vacational studios in the city of Tulum, Quintana Roo. The client, a New York fashion designer, desired a space integrated in a Caribbean paradise with many textures, color emphasis and adaptation to the tropical framework. The design process is personalized to the client; if the client turned into architectonical elements, Casa T would be his spatial presence. The aim was a composition of volumes and shapes, rhythms and textures, catching the spectator by surprise in several corners. Simple and complex at the same time, in a tropical scenario but yet elegant.

Responding to envi­ronmental conditions is not only a protective measure, but also translates into a matter of immediate life safety. The harsh conditions of wind, snow, landslides, terrain, and weather require a response of specific architectural forms and conceptual designs.

Two container ships are docked at the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands. From 1962 until 2002 it was the world’s busiest port, but was overtaken first by the the port in Singapore and later by the facility in Shanghai, China. Container ships such as these can weigh up to 300,000 tons and extend up to 1,200 feet (366 meters).

There are still lots of them on the stocks, but as you said the larger boxboats are getting laid up, and those that aren’t are running with a lot of empty space. 

It’s not just containers either, there are a lot of tankers lying idle at the moment.

Rutan Model 33 VariEze da NASA on The Commons Tramite Flickr: The Rutan Model 33 VariEze was built by the Model and Composites Section of Langley Research Center and then tested in the 30 x 60 Full Scale Tunnel. The craft was not built for flight, but did have an electric motor installed to drive the propeller as part of its aerodynamics study in the Tunnel.
