LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
x I plead the fifth
I fixed it!
(never feel bad about doing this whether it’s to deepen the character, have fun, or build interesting headcanons! Even shit about what their favorite type of jelly bean is makes them feel more complex to you and that’s fun! GO NUTS!)
This scene is heartbreaking for a million reasons - not least because these two men who finally found love and understanding in someone are losing it so quickly - but because of the futility of their entire situation. Alfred and Henry were brought together through their noble intentions in solving the Longharvest murder, a murder that could never be solved by them because both the victim and the killer didn't exist yet. They both lost everything (Alfred lost his life and Henry presumably skipped town) through their desire to seek justice that could never be found in that initial timeline and ended up in a conspiracy neither of them could understand. They both would've been better off not getting involved, yet if they hadn't, they wouldn't have experienced the bone-deep love, passion and understanding they discovered for the first time within each other. Alfred’s desperation as he holds his and Henry’s foreheads together, devastated at losing Henry but seeing no other way - not knowing that everything they’ve both done and are about to do was for nothing.
The tragedy never ends with these two.

Someone somewhere mentioned a headcanon about Archie persistently referring to Stede and Ed as "the dads" and I want that person, wherever they are, to know that I love them.
First, it's funny because Madeleine Sami has known those dudes for years.
Second, my personal headcanon is that Archie has been hungering for a family since forever and she finds it, as the rest of the crew do, on the Revenge and plunges in headfirst.
Why was Dad so unhinged when she joined his crew? Ah, of course, Other Dad broke up with him, that explains it.
Why is Dad suddenly in a cat bell and potato sack apologizing to everyone? Other Dad came back, and Other Dad obviously has semi-magical powers and/or a spectacular dick.
Lets steal Other Dad's tub to make booze in; Dad will totally make it cool with him.
And so on.
At a more serious level, it speaks to Archie's needs - she starts out thinking that life is cheap, and then falls in love with Jim for showing her that there's an alternative. She sees Stede making the toxic atmosphere suddenly better, just by being his strange, positive, loving self, and Blackbeard, whom she has only known as this angry, deeply depressed man, becoming Ed again.
It's a small plot line in the broader story, but it showcases both the character herself and what her story has been, how she's been steeped in the "culture of abuse" that is piracy, and the way in which Stede's ethos has a long-lasting, meaningful effect on everyone he touches.
beautiful messy victorian family 😜❤
Someone on Twitter said 'Ed in a Trophy Husband crop top' and I said 'yeah, alright put him in a skirt as well '

realizing that um. the groom? in that wedding ed crashed? where he got the wedding cake toppers?
his suit is literally....... orange and gold. with fish scales.
i just think that's. interesting. especially because the wedding cake topper does not have this detailing.
meaning that ed noticed this Fine Fabric and it stuck in his mind as being stede-like. and his subconscious uses it to construct his vision of stede.
this is also where i point out (perhaps needlessly) that... this is a wedding suit. ed, on the verge of death, imagines his love swimming towards him, yes. but more specifically... his groom.
Here comes the bride ☠️
