currently thinking about the reoccurring theme of the sheer frustration and sadness that comes from redacted characters knowing exactly how to do something but not being able to:

milo feeling with every inch of his core that he’s a shifter, he just is but not being able to do the magic that he knows as well as he knows his own name, his very nature right there in front of him but just out of reach.

sam knowing exactly how to heal, the best ways to direct the magic, precisely how to externalize it in a way that restores the body seamlessly, but his new core can’t summon the same amount of magic for it, the talents he spent years honing lost to a new, vampiric core that can’t support them.

lovely mastering the control of their electro energetic powers after they were thrust into the empowered world, figuring out how to summon their electricity on purpose and with direction, turning the uncontrolled bursts of sheer power into energy they can guide, gone after a night that was meant to demonstrate the marvel that was their abilities, the memory of that stillness in the air as the electricity builds around them, so close it hurts, the fear of how weak the power that saved their life in the beginning has become, and the guilt for feeling sorry for themselves knowing how many people that night didn’t get the chance for a new life.

Elliot watching sunshine’s dream torture them knowing that a mere snap of his fingers should be able to make it all stop, to make them feel safe again, but his core doesn’t answer him, the magic that’s supposed to flow through his threads is quieted to barley a murmur by Blake’s control, helplessness is an understatement.

Damien pushing every last ounce of his power out to fight off the shades, the same power that comes even when he doesn’t call it, the same fire that he’s spent years perfecting how to control, the strong burst should be simple compared to the artistic feats he can accomplish, the ever present hum of warmth that flows through him running cold in the moment he needs it most.

I love little redacted lore drops that aren't serious in the least bit like when Sam and Darlin' were talking and he was like 'you know I hate when restaurants don't have good appetizers' like yea Sam I do know that bc we've gone on so many restaurant dates and you always go on a rant about it. Or when Asher was talking about how he and babe snuck into David and Angels pool and convinced them that they invited them over like yes Ash I remember that we laughed about it for like a month.
