Moving Out

This might be my last post on Tumblr since I'll be moving all my blogging activities to juliustio.wordpress.com. The reason for this is just that I feel more comfortable writing on wordpress and that I write more than posting pictures or sharing any other interesting stuff on the web. It was a fun ride with tumblr, but now it's time to grow up and blog seriously. I won't be deleting this blog nor will I import the contents of my tumblr posts onto my new wordpress. It's because I want to start a clean and fresh relationship with my new wordpress and leave my tumblr with a memory of me.

Twelve Monkeys : rewatching after years

I remembered this film in fragments, in pieces of infomations that didn't mean anything to my sane mind. I remembered watching this when I was little. The film was released in 1995, I was still 5 back then. Now that I've watched it again after years. It showed me different thing. Even the quote "a film never change is it? But we change everytime we watch it" said by Bruce Willis suddenly mean something to me. A line "All I see is dead people" suddenly can be associated to The Sixth Sense. This will always be one of my all time favorites, the plot writing is awesome, Brad Pitt's acting is mesmerizing, and the beauty of Madeleine Stowe reminds me of the Hollywood's ideal beauty. Too bad we haven't see any more good work from the director, Terry Gilliam. Even Imaginarium of Dr.Parnassus is a letdown.

Dumb Enemy

It's been awhile since I last updated my blog, that was because I was just too lazy to write anything, or share anything on the web. Then, when I felt like I wanted to, another thing prevented me to update my blog, which is the death of my internet.

Since one month ago, my Smartfren internet hasn't being smart or friendly at all. I can hardly get connected to the internet, so I barely open 9gag, youtube, vimeo and any other web activity for awhile. Everytime I think I got internet connection, I download songs, youtube videos or facebooking like never before. But these days, it only lasted not more than 2hours my internet worked. So, I'm going to change provider soon. Thank you Smartfren for the last two years of decent internet. Now you ain't any good anymore. I will have to say goodbye.

PS : I'm writing this blog entry in a hurry, and I copy all these texts just in case I lost my internet connection, I won't have to retype it anymore.

How Teachers Kill Ideas

I suddenly remembered this one time I was in biology class in junior high. The topic was DNA and genes. And my curiosity kills me, so I raised up my hand and ask the teacher, "if a living creature is being altered in his life physically, will it change the DNA as well?" - this is a curious question I asked to my biology teacher because I haven't prayed to Google yet for my every questions. It resulted in my teacher saying, "just sit down, read your book and do your homework." My classmates laughed at me for asking funny question." I sat down and never asked any questions no matter how curious I was. Today, I checked my twitter and I read that the scientists are currently creating unicorn bull by surgically altering the horn and place it in the centre of it's head. Thanks teacher, we might have been the creator of the first unicorn.

This is now my favorite break-up song. There's a lot to read between the lines of the lyrics and see the expressions, it's all telling us something.

The song tells us about a painful break-up between a man who think the girl has been harsh on him, then blame the girl as the reason for the break-up. But the girl herself felt she has been screwed over many times by the guy, but made it seems like it's all her fault. She also mentioned that he hasn't moved on from his previous relationship, from somebody he used to know. And now the guy said "I don't need your love" then made another girl somebody he used to know. Strangers...all over again

PS : I love the art direction, very simple yet powerful. Very random and abstract. Love the expressions of two human beings in this video. It now has more than 109million views, my faith in artistic sense has been restored.

Idiots on a Plane

Last weekend I went to a quick trip from Medan to Jakarta. It was a mind-opening flight on my way back to Medan. The flight was scheduled to leave at 16.45, but when I went into the check in counter, they said that the flight will be delayed one hour.

When I was finally boarding the plane. I was welcomed by a familiar accent of my hometown. Rude, poor choice of words combined with super loud laughter. I saw several people wearing army-pattern vests and cap written "FK PPI" all over. Have no idea what that means, or who they are. Everything was usual until after the safety intructions was finished, the plane waited by the terminal for another 30minutes before the captain announced via the intercom that we are still waiting for instructions from the Control Tower to be able to fly.

Then, one of these FK PPI dudes start launching bad puns towards the flight attendants and the carrier. Bad jokes and loud laughter keep on coming during the wait. I couldn't stand it,so I just plugged on my earphone and play something from my iPad. After another 15minutes, the plane started to move backwards. One of these stupid dudes yelled out "So this pilot can only go backwards?". I was so irritated, but I tried hard to hold in my anger. How stupid could they be to realized that we have to go backwards in order to move to the runways.

To make matters worst, the man in the seat in front me added the flame by acting like he knows everything about aviation. Talked about his own theory about why we are waiting, blaming the carrier, blaming the airport authority, even saying that the tires might have blewn up. Even when we are ready at the runway for take off, this dude even blame the plane that is about to land, intersecting our take off route. Waiting for the plane to land took around 5minutes, but this guy mumbled like it took 50minutes. And even when we're taking off, this dude didn't even pull up his seat, leaving me with my tiny space.

For you idiots, think some more. We could've take off faster ignoring the tower's instruction to wait, but then we might end up kissing up another airplane's and blow up to oblivion. Blaming the carrier is even another form of stupidity, airbus carriers are losing money whenever they are on delays like this. So you think they have too much money, then waste it on pissing you off? What else could you do apart from insulting the pilots and pretend like you know everything about aviation? I was so pissed off by the level of stupidity, I'd want to put these damn stupid dudes in one plane and let it crash. But whatever, just SHUT UP, at least I won't noticed that you are all this stupid.

Free Hugs on Valentine

I spend this valentine working all day and then hung out with some single friends during the evening and have late night coffee. Only when I got home I remembered that last year, I wanted to do something about this year's valentine. I wanted to offer free hugs.

Yeah, free hugs to people who feel lonely during valentine. Free hugs to people who felt unloved, free hugs to any children and elders. Offering free hugs on the street is one thing that is new and touching in Indonesia. Last year, I thought it would be great. Now that I remember it, I start thinking "what if I went to the streets or the mall 3 hours ago and start offering people free hugs?" Damn it, people would think I was either a pervert, or a desperate lonely guy. Why? Because I am not handsome or famous.

People's perception will change if the ones that offer them free hugs during valentine is someone famous or at least handsome to the max. I planned something good, but apparently I won't be able to complete it. Where should I give all these hugs now?

My Study about History of Korea

My Korean fever is getting worse, from just liking their variety show, then it spread to liking their musics, certain number of celebrities. And now it is even worse. I started to learn about their history. Once wikipedia has stopped their blackout, the first pages of wikipedia I read is the history of the Goryeon Dynasty in the ancient Korean Peninsula. Goryeon is where the name Korea came from What I learnt is that Korea has seen one of the most changes in the history of mankind. I believe they came from the same ancestry of people of China. Then many centuries after that, King Sejong the Great created their language, a newfound script called Hangul. And been using that since then. Many centuries later, Korea was divided for a very simple reason, Japan surrendered their occupation of Korea to both Soviet Union and United States. The north to the SU, and the south to the US. The north until today has become a communist nation, a hermit nation. While the south has find themselves as one of the tiger of Asia. Along with HongKong, Singapore, Japan and Taiwan. I just watched a documentary about the lives of people in the North Korea (yeah,now I watch their TV too). And it is very surprising indeed. The socialist government limit their knowledge and teach them not what they should know,but what the government want them to know. The people are all narrow minded and see their brothers in the south as traitors to their own nation. This is an evolution,of how a nation's life changes throughout the history. A nation changes when oppresed. They find their new identity in the time of crisis. I also want my nation to change, to become better, and better not let war takes place ahead of us to bring that change.

Think! Change! Different!

It's tough to be different, to be the black swan among the whites. It's never easy to do something people told u won't work. But yet again, glory has to be earned. If we are just the same, then where lies the glory? The very simple equation I believed in, if you can think! about difference, start the change! and be different! Many people can think abt making difference, but not many would walk the path of difference. The path where you have to walk alone. The path where there's no pavement and there are no clear directions of where to go. The path where when people see you walked in, they might laugh at you, stone you or might call you crazy. But the very simple truth is that those people whom they said too crazy to be different are those who changed the world. In order to be different, in order to make changes, sacrifices has to be made. The amount of sacrifices are equal to the amount of change we want to see happen. In order to be different, we have to let go of our convinience and walk the road where none has walked, the road with no pavement.
