 In the summer of 2017  Rye the Hound and I found ourselves on the flanks of the Siskiyou Range some 20 miles south of Oregon/California border in  Yreka,  a somewhat neglected Gold Rush-spawned town hardby the incessant  Interstate 5 . With the gold  long since gone and the timber industry shrunken, Yreka had pinned its commercial future on its quaint historic downtown as a driveby tourist stop.…
