I havent done this in forever but took the long way home tonight and passed your place, all the lights on in the windows, reminder that you're still there, not here in my world, but there. it was cold and windy today but that street always feels like summer to me. I took videos of the moon through the trees, the branches and leaves blowing around, big gusts of wind make everything really alive. i realized how much I loved this neighbourhood, all routes so familiar to me, and they dont hold anything heavy anymore like they used to. Because i used to walk all these paths with you.. but now i'm fond of it all. that park and the swing set even. A neighbourhood cat passed me on the opposite sidewalk, and all the gardens still blooming at night. I can't believe i considered leaving this area.. it's all special. if a time capsule was a home

Strange, all I know about you now
is that you opened the window
to let in this fine day.

We're inside all the time and most things we experience are scheduled ahead of time. When there are sidewalks, we follow them, and there's always some boring place to go. You need things that no one has any control over and that no one can sell for money. You need to be outside in a storm and see lightning strike very close to you. You need to meet a wild creature and have to stand very still and almost not even breathe and watch before it vanishes. You need to be alone somewhere very big. You need to go to a place because it looks interesting and be at the wrong place at the wrong time. You need to climb over a fence instead of going in by the gate. You need to hear the exploding sound of a huge flock of birds flying. You need to watch live theater performed by kids on a low budget. You need to be lost somewhere. You need to be barefoot somewhere. You need to sing with other people who are singing. You need to get soaking wet with all of your clothes on and come inside shivering.

summertime sadness (every summer carries the ghosts of all the summers that precede it)
every year summer rolls around and it’s just (memories of friends I don’t speak to anymore) (memories of places I can never go back to again) (memories of a person I can never become again) (with each summer our connections grow less and less sturdy) (you are one summer older and one summer less than the year before) (yearning for a past time you weren’t even that happy in) (wanting to hit up certain people but you’re one summer too late)
