Adachi screamed in agony as he felt himself being lowered into the water. He struggled to get out as it splashed all over his body. No matter how hard he tried though, he couldn’t get himself out.

One, two, three, four, five. Pull him out again.

“Lesson learned?” I mock him, not caring really. It was all just sadistic pleasure that fueled me at this point. Once, I would have been horrified. Now... I could bring justice to everyone Tohru Adachi had effected. Surely this one had murdered his way out of jail time too.

Adachi hissed in pain as he felt the heat on his nearly frozen skin. He tried to squirm around and move to get away, but with no luck. 

“Stop it! Please!” 

He probably shouldn’t have spoken out loud.

“What was that?”

I couldn’t hear him over his screams of pain as I lowered him into the rapidly heating water. Whoops. He should have just said yes or no. It would have been faster for him. Oh well. He would live and learn. Possibly.

It was warm. The small man struggled to move as he saw a pot of water begin to boil. 

He knew what he was going to do with that pot, and he didn’t want it to happen to him.

“Now. Pest. Either one of two things happens. You either keep your mouth shut next time or-”

I pick him up by the collar of his filthy and ratty jacket, holding it above the lukewarm water. It would still be painful to that cold skin even now.

“You’ll find out what it means to really piss your master off.”

The small man struggled to breathe, finding himself unable to move. Soon light shone into the freezer and he felt himself being pulled out. 

Adachi’s skin was blue, and there was frost starting to build on it, but he was still breathing, and still alive somehow.

Oh and look at that! The Pest was still breathing. I think it was time enough to stop making it so cold. It couldn’t be good for it’s health, yes?

I lay it out on the counter. Get a pot of water on the stove and turn it up to high. Watch it as it begins the process of thawing out.

     You bite your lip, hissing away from the receiver. All right. He’s stalling on purpose. Now, what does he want?

     “And?” He probably doesn’t want that. There’s a little wobble in your otherwise ‘calm’ voice. Undetectable to most. He’ll hear it.

“Humph.” Not nearly as well trained as I thought. I couldn’t keep my contempt behind my teeth. Oh well. Another day then. At least he was on edge. Good.

“I have decided that I will take you up on that offer. I expect you here in five minutes.” And with that I end the call. Shut off the phone. No, it wasn’t fair not giving him directions. I didn’t particularly care at that point. Instead I go over to the freezer and open it, finding one incredibly cold thing in there. Was it dead? Time to find out.

     “Onii-san.” For as firm as you are when you say the word, he knows it’s an indication of being servile to him. You have to wonder how many times he had to screw that woman to get all that information– and then throw up internally at the idea.

     You won’t say anything else. You won’t speak out of turn. You’re supposed to be playing on the defensive, after all.

I nearly laugh at him. Onii-san. I could get used to that name. I did still prefer ‘Master’ but if the boot fit, right?

“I’ve made my decision.” Toy with him a bit longer. See how far he would go for information. Far, yes? After all, I had broken one of his ‘friends’ and was in the process of breaking another one. Stupid little Pest. Thinking it deserved something like food. It was the worst.

     You picked up the call as fast as your fingers would let you. Let him speak first. Let him have the last word. Do not mess this up.

I wait in the span of silence. Oh? He wasn’t going to speak first? Perhaps he was as broken as I thought him to be. Good. Or... Was it? Hmmm. I can’t tell.

“Narukami-san.” Might as well break the ice.

     You almost nodded. No. No movements. Not in this ‘trance’. He’d call you. You needed to be careful now. You’d have to close yourself off from…

     You could agonize over this later. Right now, you needed to do as you were told.

     “Yes, Onii-san.”

A pet to his head and I was gone, ‘vanished’ without a trace. In reality, I just pulled the hood up on my sweatshirt and walked away. It was still cool enough that a light jacket such as that would go unremarked. It was even a nice, soothing blue. So long as I kept my face from showing, I would be lost within the crowds. Ha. Ha ha...

What a stupid boy.

     “Onii-san,” you repeated, flatly. Staring at nothing.

     He had yet to fill you with that slime. You were empty. He coated you with it, but he had yet to fill your nothingness with something. You were still in public. He couldn’t.

     If he got you in private…

     If he showed his true colors…

     “If I can take his place, I can cut his bond from me. But not until then.”

What would be more important? Severing all of the ties Pet had made and possibly getting an Object in return? Or keeping myself hidden from prying eyes? Hmm... I would have to think on this. He was planning something, I knew it. But what? What was the Object thinking?

“Do give me some time to think about this Narukami-san. I am a very private person, after all. I will call you.”

From a new phone. Of course.

     Don’t tense up. Don’t break the trance. Don’t make him think he said it wrong. Don’t make him remember the full phrase, if she even told him that. You bet she did tell him. That he simply refused to call you ‘sweetie’. “He has received his punishment, Onii-san. He has received worse than death. Is that not fair punishment?”

     Let the slime take over. You were empty. You were nothingness in and of itself.

     “I can’t, Onii-san. It’s too late.” You wouldn’t apologize. Not in this state. It’d be a ‘lie’. “It’s too late.”

What a pity. He wasn’t a good boy after all. My lips almost curl up into a snarl, but I do remember at the last second where we are. Keep calm. Keep calm and no one would have to know.

“It’s not enough and you would do well to remember your place, Narukami-san. Stop seeing it. Cut all ties with it. You can do that much for Big Brother, can’t you?” How I long for that word to slip out of my mouth. But no. Not yet. Not until he was well and truly broken. Keep ‘soothing’ him. Keep him on edge. How I want to take him home and show him exactly what I did to Pet... Hmm... That would be a good start. Allow him to leave the mortal coil if he so wished. It would be a tragedy but oh so worth it to see the look on that bitch’s face...

     You stared down at the ground. Touching. He was touching you. So… disgustingly gentle, he rubbed in the slime and the violation… Orange flashed into your vision. Everything tinted in that disgusting candy-colored o r a n g e.

     You caught your breath, but now you couldn’t move. Your shoulder blades tensed under his filthy, slimy hand. You wanted to puke.

     ‘Tell big brother the truth.’ Your eyes widened, still staring straight at the ground. Kita spoke to him. She must have. He knew that phrase… But…

     All of the tension in your muscles relaxed. You stared blankly, as if under a trance… “I need to save him.” Flat. Monotone. “He could have died. I could have lost the only person I care about.”

I might have started laughing if I knew it wouldn’t break him out of his trance. What a pity. What a pity indeed. He was so broken that I wanted to break him some more. To turn him into nothing more than an Object.

“Aaa? But what makes you think that it deserves to be saved? It certainly has done bad things in its life.” Continue rubbing his shoulders soothingly. Disgust him even more. Perhaps find a way to get up to June’s roof and... leave him there for a while. Ha. I had done that to Pet once and it was begging me to let it down afterward. I could do the same to him

“Leave him alone. Big Brother doesn’t like it when you mess with his pets.” Let’s see if he could follow orders. Good boys did.

     You bent over. Caught your breath. You searched the rest of town. He had to be here, if he was in town at all. No. You couldn’t think like that. He’d show. You put on your best behavior. He’d show.

     “Here goes nothing.”

     You kept searching. Behind everything. Underneath, above…

     No stone unturned. Ha. If you were dumb enough, you might have even looked underneath actual stones. Too bad he wasn’t an actual insect, or maybe you would.

     “Damn it…” No. You had to stay calm. You needed… You needed to find him. You were going to find him.

Hmmm... What a rather lovely day. I look about and stroll through the town. The sun was shining, the wind was blowing...

And there was an idiot doubled over. Oh? It looked like he had been trying to find me after all. I had been joking about the hide and seek part, but it looked like he had taken it seriously. Tsk. What a pain. What a pain indeed.

I walk to him, behind him. Lay a hand right between the shoulder blades...

My first instinct is to shove him to the ground. But that wouldn’t get him to do what I want, yes? Instead, I gently run my hand counter clockwise. Soothing. So soothing. And yet touching him was one of the most violent things I could probably do to him.

“What’s the matter, Narukami-san? Come on... Tell big brother the truth.”

     With that out of the way…! You bolted out of the house and ran as far around the town as your legs would take you. No. You ran farther than that. He wanted to play Hide-and-Seek?

     You’d play Hide-and-Seek.

To be perfectly honest, I was always bad at hide and seek. But I instigated this mess. The best thing to do was to see it through.

And who knew? If the stars aligned right, perhaps I could get Pet to kill him. Oh... but Kita-san wouldn’t like that. After all, he was her precious little brother. If he died, then she would be sad.

Then again... did I really care about her?

     You bit your lip. Your finger hovered over the buttons on your screen, and you glanced away… This… This had to work. He still had the phone; he might be sloppier than you realized.

[Text to: Unknown Number]

     No.

[Text to: Onii-san] [1] Can I make you a deal? Please? [2] If that so-called ‘Pet’ of yours remains unharmed from now on… [3] If you need an outlet… [4] I can offer myself. I can tell you all of the times I’ll be alone, and I can wait here for you if you want. Please.

I have to keep myself from laughing out loud.

[Text to: Onii-kun] [1] I am not that much of a narcissist. [2] My answer is no. [3] Try again. Chase me.

And with that, my phone ‘accidentally’ falls to the tracks below. Whoops. Looks like I need a new burner phone.

One Last Thing

     Muto-san’s call shook something in you. An opened chat window… No use there. He’d deny it until he was blue in the face. Or blue in the fingers. Now… ‘The person who has done these things’ contacted you once. He sent you a lovely little photograph of his ‘handiwork’. A tame one, considering.

     Maybe he still had that phone on him.

[Text to: Unknown Number] [1] I have a question for you. Are you willing to listen?

Hmmm. How interesting. How very interesting indeed. Normally I would have gotten rid of the burner phone by now (especially considering my stunts before hand) but...

[Text to: Onii-kun] [1] Perhaps. [2] That is if you have anything worth saying.

The small man nodded before feeling himself being moved around thanks to the box. He couldn’t stop himself as he fell into his own mess, feeling his body become wet as a result. 

This was hell, and he deserved every moment of it, didn’t he?

I raise a brow at Pest. What, is it wallowing in despair? I don’t have time to waste on it’s emotions.

“Come ooooon. If you don’t hurry up, you’re bath will go away.” I warn the tiny being before pulling on the chain connected to the plug.

The sound of water rushing down the pipe can be heard. If Pest doesn’t hurry in quickly, the water will all go away.

I’ll of course put the plug back if Pest could get into the sink in time.
