Dexter Alternate Series Finale
One of my favorite things to do is try to figure what is going to happen next in my favorite shows. So of course I came up with all kinds of theories for the final episode of Dexter.
When I saw the final episode I was more than upset with how they ended it. One of my close friends told me that I should use my theories and write an alternate episode. So I did! Let me know what you think!
Dexter Alternate Season Finale Script
After arriving to the scene Batista immediately calls Dexter and tells him about Deb. Hearing the news Dexter immediately stops in his tracks as he, Hannah, and Harrison are to board the plane to Argentina. Dexter glance over his right shoulder as he sees the image of his dad (the dark passenger) walking toward him. Dexter tells Hannah to go ahead of him and take Harrison with her. Dexter tells Harrison “remember that I am always with you, and I’ll see you soon.” Dexter races to the hospital in his SUV as his father lectures him about how could he let Deb get hurt again. Feeling completely guilty Dexter furiously yells as he swerves around many cars on the road.
When Dexter reaches Debs room at the hospital he (as well as Quinn and Batista) are told that she is still unconscious. The surgeon was able to remove the bullet, but Deb lost a lot of blood. The doctor tells Dexter, Batista, and Quinn that we will have to wait and see how she is after she comes through.
Dexter immediately asks “where is Saxon (not thinking clearly due to the emotional toll).” Quinn tells him that he is the number one priority and that they have the whole force out looking for him. Dexter storms off. Batista pauses then looks at Quinn and asks “How did he know that it was Saxon?” Quinn answers by saying “maybe he heard it on the radio on his way.” [Batista isn’t satisfied by this response]
Saxon is now seen walking the streets as he looks right we see that he has returned to his mother’s home. Saxon begins rummaging through the house looking for pain meds. Saxon begins to stitch his arm up using rubbing alcohol and needle and thread that he finds in his mothers bedroom. He begins to search the closet for a something to apply pressure to the gunshot wound. A box falls from the top of the closet revealing photos and hand drawn pictures that Dr. Vogel had kept. He realizes that these keepsakes were items that she kept of his after all these years. [Begins to cry]
Dexter begins searching all the places he could think that Saxon could be at. He speeds through the streets checking 2 of the buildings Saxon had permits for, the final place being where Deb was shot. Enraged Dexter decided to check Vogel’s home.
Batista receives a call from HQ stating that a neighbor thinks they saw the man from the tv (Saxon) entering Dr. Vogel’s home. He leaves and heads their and tells Quinn to stay with Deb.
Saxon gets up from Vogel’s bed and walks out of the room as he steps out of the room Dexter is there and stabs him with the syringe. [SCREEN GOES BLACK]
First thing we see is Dexter’s body impatiently waiting for Saxon to wake up. As Saxon comes through he finds himself bound on Dexter table. Dexter has now chosen Deb’s apartment to be the spot of his final killing. He tells Saxon he chose this place because of what he did to his sister. Dexter enters into a monologue; Saxon with a grin on his face says “do what you must.” Dexter immediately grabs his knife. Saxon then says “to bad I had to kill her so quickly! I always love this part” Dexter stabs Saxon through the heart.
Back at the hospital we see Quinn sitting beside Debs bed half asleep. Deb awakes and says “Who f****** died” Quinn gets up and immediately kisses Deb on the forehead. Quinn says “I thought I lost you” and Deb says “I’m not going anywhere” A nurse enters the room to check on Deb and see how her vitals are. The nurse then tells Quinn that Deb should really get some rest. Quinn begins to walk out and Deb stops him and says “Go catch the SOB.” Quinn calls Batista and tells him that Deb is awake. Batista is now at Vogel’s home and sees the door is open and a trail of blood and tells Quinn about it. They both realize that Saxon has returned to his mother’s home. Batista tells Quinn that he’s going to call Dexter and let him know that Deb is awake. He then tells Quinn to stop by Deb’s house and grab her some clothes and take them back to the hospital.
When Quinn pulls up to Deb’s house he sees Dexter’s car speeding from the house. Quinn decides to follow. He calls Batista to tell him. Batista tells Quinn he wasn’t able to reach Dexter earlier. They begin wondering if it could be Saxon driving the car and that Dexter is in danger. Quinn runs into the house to see if Dexter is in the house. When he walks in he sees plastic everywhere and traces of blood from Dexter’s most recent killing. He calls Batista again to tell him what he sees and Batista puts out an APB for Dexter’s vehicle. Batista tells Quinn that what he sees sound like some Bay Harbor Butcher stuff.
Dexter is arrives at the marina he gets out of the car and heads to his boat with the body. No one is around because of the fear of the storm that is coming through. Dexter places Saxon’s covered body on the boat. As Dexter begins to start the boat he hears “FREEZE! PUT YOUR HANDS UP!” Dexter slowly turns around and sees Batista and Quinn and 4 other uniformed officers standing on the dock all pointing their guns at him. Completely shocked Quinn realizes that it is Dexter. Quinn and Batista approach the boat and ask Dexter what is going on. Dexter doesn’t reply. Batista then notices the wrapped body; he cuts open the bag and sees that it is Saxon. He looks at Dexter!
[Everything moves in slow-motion as the uniformed officers arrest Dexter]
[A black screen reads 2 years later.]
We now see nothing but Dexter’s face he begins a monologue about everything he has done in the past years. As the camera slowly pans out we now see that Dexter is now strapped in to a table and is about to be killed by lethal immunization. His monologue continues to explain the irony of how he killed his victims in a room surrounded by the photos of the people they harmed an now he is to die the same way. Dexter looks left and he seems different members of the police force (Masuka, Quinn, Batista,). He looks to his right and he sees the image of Dokes and LaGuerta (the two people that died because they figured him out). As he looks forward he sees the image of his father. His father says “I never wanted this for you,” and he turns and walks away. The tech pulls out the needles squirts a little out and the screen goes blank.
The final scene opens up to Hannah sitting in the living room in their home in the Argentina, Deb comes around the corner using a cane. Deb asks Hannah where is he. The doorbell rings. As Hannah opens the door they find an officer at the door as the officer steps out of their site you see what looks like to be a crime scene. The dead dog is covered on the side walk and Harrison is sitting with another officer, his hands are covered in blood. When Deb sees what happens she is shocked. Deb looks at Harrison and we see the image of her father and Dexter with a hand on each of his shoulders. (Of course Deb doesn’t see them.)
