But I'd say I'd die at the same moment as my best friend because I don't want either of us enduring anymore time apart than necessary.

I think deep down I'm starting to hope that one day she won't need me anymore, so I can truly move on from her.

Because as long as she is constantly in my life she is pulling my tether.

Like a dog on a retractable leash. I can run, and run, and run, and I think I'm free until I run out of rope and it snaps me back.

And I feel only she can release that tether

And maybe this is just me splitting, or it's because I'm awake at 4am but I hope that one day she might unhook my leash.

And sure when she does I might linger by her side, because even an unleashed dog still knows to heel, or knows to respond when their name is called.

But when she does I might finally be able to truly run.
