exactly!
Plus, California just passed a law that makes striking workers eligible for unemployment benefits, which means the AMPTP knew they weren't gonna be able to starve them out much longer.
Tatiana Maslany was literally insane for playing like 12 different people with the same face and then interacting with multiple versions of herself for five whole seasons
she really Did That™ and we are all incredibly grateful
No! No, but here’s the important thing! She did it so flawlessly, that you would actually forget these characters are the same actress.
I found myself feeling bad for the actor who plays Alison’s husband, because “he never gets to work with Maslany,” because in my head I kept equating her with Sarah, when literally he only worked with Maslany!
The special effects were so seemless, and her performances were so flawless that we have never seen this gimmick done this effectively, this naturally. And I don’t think we ever will again.
She deserved that emmy.
It’s impossible to describe how phenomenally good a job Maslany did with these characters. Like, it wasn’t just that she played every one of these characters so genuinely and distinctly that you forgot they were the same actress. It was also that the characters, being clones, would deceive people by playing each other.
Alison would be on the screen, and you’d be like, “that’s Alison”. Then Sarah would be on the screen, and you’d be like, “that’s Sarah”. Then someone who looked exactly like Sarah would be on the screen, and you’d be like, “Oh, Alison is pretending to be Sarah.” And some of the clones were better at pretending to be each other than other clones were. And you could always tell who you were looking at and who they were trying to imitate.

This wild, wonderful, beautifully animated and heartfelt queer story started here
Here, on tumblr, by an art student who was wrestling with his identity, mental health, and religious trauma
Tell your stories, kids, you never know how many people will thank you for it
unfriendly reminder that if you think that attraction from bisexuals is “lesser” or “tainted” bc of their attraction to men then i fucking hate you personally and i suggest you try eating glass
We've all gotten just a bit too comfortable being jerks to strangers on the internet I think
So I've hidden this reply, both because it's obnoxious and because I don't want the person who wrote it being harassed for it, but I need you to understand: I don't know you. We are not friends. This is not fun or cute, we are not sharing a charming joke together. You are just being an asshole.
literally that is what the post is about, I am saying people should be less eager to jump on any change to be snarky and rude to total strangers on the internet
The fact that people think it's a "straight line", that is, you setting up a desired response, rather than a genuine statement of frustration, really really underlines the point you're making here.

Sure, why not. ‘Angels lament’
Everyone- eat the rich! everyone on the Titan was a self entitled rich person (except that poor kid rip)! They shouldn’t have exploited the victims of the Titanic!
News sources everywhere-
Why do I keep seeing James Cameron all over my news (I know these are both Insider, but I have been seeing James Cameron in the news for days from several different outlets, I’m just lazy) Listen, I know he did the time and made the movie but how is he any different? Rich white guy? Profited off of the exploitation of the tragedy of the Titanic? Self entitled expert? Bleh I’m over seeing his crusty wannabe Saruman face all over my phone. Go back to the Avatar movies and think about what you’ve done.
Image descriptions- two news articles, one titled “James Cameron estimates he’s spent more time with the Titanic than the ship’s actual captain after 33 voyages to the wreckage” and “The Titan sub was likely trying to surface and the passengers probably knew the hull was starting to crack before it imploded, James Cameron says.”
A news article titled James Cameron on Titanic Submarine Loss: “Struck by the Similarity of the Titanic Disaster Itself” and a lovely hands rubbing meme with the text “James Cameron eyeballing the opportunity he never thought would come: Titanic 2”
...I'm writing this under the assumption that you don't know any better, because hoo boy is this a bad take
James Cameron legitimately numbers among the small handful of people most qualified to talk about the Titan disaster. The reason why is because being a filmmaker is almost a side project compared to his very real contributions to submersible design, oceanography, and undersea exploration. Cameron has spent decades in the field of undersea science and submarine engineering. He co-designed a submersible called Deepsea Challenger which he personally took to the Challenger Deep, the lowest point of the Marianas Trench and the lowest point on Earth, alone; the first and to date only person to have ever done so solo. His hyperfixation is not the Titanic, it's submersible engineering and undersea exploration in general. Here's him being presented the Nierenberg Prize (for contributions to oceanography) in 2013:
Note that in the above interview he literally says that he made Titanic essentially just to get the funding to go to the wreck site (and to have the funding to continue to do so decades onward). He's made 33 dives to the wreck of the Titanic.
The reason why he appears in the news is not because he wants to talk about the disaster. It's got little to nothing to do with him having made Titanic (though that is tangentially related). It's because everyone knows that he is an actual, legitimate expert on the issue of submersible engineering (as well as both diving and diving to the Titanic wreck in particular), and so they bombarded him with interview requests and requests for comment. He specifically did not respond to any such requests until after the deaths of the passengers had been confirmed, because he knew that the sub had imploded and they were all dead, and he didn't want to be insensitive and drown everyone's hopes by telling everyone that the search and rescue was pointless. Here's him on ABC News next to his friend and associate Dr. Bob Ballad, the man who discovered the wreck of the Titanic, who is probably the only other person more qualified than Cameron to talk about the recent disaster:
TL;DR: James Cameron is not being interviewed because "he made Titanic"; he's being interviewed because he's a well-known and verifiable submersible engineering and undersea expert.
He has a genuine respect for and decades old interest in shipwrecks and the Titanic wreck in particular, since he was young. If anyone was qualified to make a movie about the Titanic in the first place, I'm glad it was someone who actually had a passionate interest in the topic and not some other big-name filmmaker.
Things I wish women were learning from true crime podcasts: how to spot early warning signs of abusive relationships, how to escape abusive relationships, how easily domestic violence can escalate to murder, how incredibly unlikely it is to be the victim of a crime done by a complete random stranger as opposed to friends and family
What women are learning from true crime podcasts: I am in CONSTANT danger and every day I survive without being murdered by a serial killer is a miracle. I should react to everyone I meet with distrust and paranoia and live my life as if I am in mortal peril and if anyone suggests that might not be healthy then they just don't understand what it is to Be A Woman In Today's Society
The ban allegedly affected LGBTQ users disproportionately.
Gee, Tumblr would probably really hate it if you shared and spread this damning article … To the surprise of absolutely none of Tumblr’s LGBTQ users, it turns out the independent NYC human rights agency Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) found that Tumblr’s ham-fisted adult content ban in December 2018 disproportionately targeted LGBTQ users. The CCHR’s investigation revealed Tumbler’s moderation algorithms is demonstrably biased against queer content. As part of the settlement, Tumblr was obligated to review their prejudicial anti-gay moderation policies. Even more mortifyingly, they’ve also had to hire an expert on sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) issues and provide unconscious bias training to their moderators. I frankly doubt Tumblr has learned a thing from this humbling experience. Just recently the Tumblr algorithm flagged three ancient posts of mine as violating their terms. All three “offenders” were vintage homoerotic beefcake images (softcore by modern standards) roughly 50 – 65-years-old by Bruce of Los Angeles, Bob Mizer and Tom of Finland. (These are of course pioneering queer artists who routinely faced censorship and imprisonment in the fifties and sixties. Plus ca change!). They've been visible on my page - corrupting viewers - for years at this point. I appealed all three immediately. Only the Tom of Finland one was approved. The other two are now hidden. So, they haven't learned much. Apparently, Tumblr – who loves to declare how hip, youthful, inclusive and progressive their values are - wants to restore trust with their queer users. I’d recommend we remember their hypocrisy when Pride rolls around and Tumblr splashes rainbow flags everywhere and attempts to pink wash their image.
In honour of Pride Month, this is worth a reblog! Don’t buy into Tumblr’s hypocritical “pink washing.”
Scientific fraud is the most baffling thing ever to me like do they think they're just going to make a huge breakthrough and no one will notice that it's fake by trying to replicate their results
Yeah actually I just discovered how to turn plastic into gold. Oh you want to know how I did it
Starts running away cutely
out of all the couples in greek mythology i UNDERSTAND why persephone and hades were the ones that were taken out of their original context to be made into a cute pair by popculture (and i dont really have an issue w this bc its sooo far removed from the actual canon) BUT.... some real untapped potential with hephaestus and aphrodite in different contexts. worlds hottest woman (barring helen) going to bat for her husband that everyone else thinks is butt ass ugly, but shes like im literally the ceo of hotness and i think hes sexy so either get over it or die idc
