One post about Eurovision 2023 is not enough
And so here I am, with more random thoughts and updates.
Yes, this year has been insane indeed. And yes, you should check all songs, especially our beloved winner’s. Stream Cha Cha Cha, check his other songs and give love to Jere, the King of Eurovision.
Also because, unlike other kings, he was elected by the people, so he has every right to become King.
Update on Poland: Jann is even more of a wonder than I imagined
While I was deep in a rabbit hole of Eurovision reactions and Käärijä-related videos, I stumbled across some Polish insisting people should watch Jann’s live performance.
And so I did. And if you just watch it, you will think: “Okay, this guy is incredibly good. He must’ve been on a stage who knows how many times, just look at how confident he is! And his voice is incredible”.
Well, according to Polish people, that was his first time. That performance was the first time this boy was on stage in front of an audience.
(EDIT: sorry, someone in the comments told me that was the first time he appeared on tv, but he already was in front of an audience. Still amazing, tho)
Also, I am not a voice expert, but my god his voice. He has been able to go from low notes to high notes, to falsetto as if it were nothing. He has been able to sing, while bending forward and turning around. If you watch it with your eyes closed, you may think he’s just standing still, because of how perfect his voice sounds: but nope, he’s dancing and turning around.
And in the end, after singing and screaming, after a huge high note, he also gave us two wonderfully good vocals - and at the end of the second one, he went from the single note, to a smile and kept that note while smiling.
There are trained singers who are not able to do this. And this 24-year-old did it. Also, he apparently sang opera and I think this explains the classical vibes, his lungs of steel and why he’s so goddamn good in general.
Jann is an absolute phenomenon and I am very glad people are devastating Gladiator of views and comments. If you are this good, you deserve global recognition. It doesn’t matter if a bunch of corrupt losers decided you can’t win: this year taught us that people are sovereign and that the true winner is what the public wants.
And by god, this boy deserves a second place, right after our true winner. He’s a majestic artist and I am sure he will have a devastatingly good career: when you’re so talented, that’s all you need.
