What If The Gems Are Actually Girls?
Thereās been a lot of confusion when it comes to the genders of the gems in Houseki no Kuni. Overall, they appear more feminine than masculine but at the same time they refer to themselves using masculine pronounces as well as using terms such as ābrothers.ā
The current consensus that theyāre agender is also supported by the fact that the author has gone on record to say that the gems are sexless. However, upon rereading chapter 51 I have reasons to believe that some, if not all of the gems, are actually female.
According to chapter 51, upon their birth, each gem is chiseled by Adamant-Sensei to make them all āequalā and rid of any āasimmetryā. Now what if when theyāre born, they actually have boobs?
Now as boobs goes, theyāre created unequal. Some gals have big anime tiddies, some are as flat as an airport runway. In terms of symmetry, this is not equal. Since itās easier to rid the gems of boobs than to add boobs, perhaps Adamant-Sensei got rid of them all.
As for their language, it is exclusively taught to them by Adamant-Sensei. And Adamant-Sensei is evidently masculine based on his appearance that is unlike a male monk. It makes sense that according to his worldview, as far as he is concerned there is no need for any feminine pronounces.
In summary, perhaps the gems were born with boobs. Perhaps dicks too. Maybe both. But all those got chiseled away by a broken robot. And then they are taught by the robot to speak as if theyāre men.
