Either Osamu has a weird taste in friends or he's surrounded by a very specific group of people

His friends are all A-Rankers who have an ego of some sort and also frequently calls him a weakling/weak in general but still decides to help him whether it's through teaching him, training him, or advising him

Even with all the glaring similarities, they're still very different from each other which is beautiful to me cuz like

Osamu absolutely needs a friend who even though criticises him every chance she gets, still watches over him and teaches him stuff that she knows will help him. Osamu absolutely needs a friend who although constantly insults him and his thinking, still continues to be there for him to talk to even through a screen. Osamu absolutely needs a friend who even with a personality of sore loser, still 'trains' him like how a 'good senior' should be to their 'junior'. They care about him so much I actually cried ok

I also enjoy the difference in dynamics like Osamu thinks of them all as friends while Kitora thinks of him as a "someone she can't leave alone", Yuiga thinks of him as a "precious kohai/cute junior", and Kikuchihara is the only one who mutually thinks they're friends (even if he denies or hides it)

Ninomiya pointing out Ema's habit of not sharing his thoughts out loud during the away mission exam made me reflect on just how often Ema tends to “communicate” via sending vibes like he's telepathic,

Also, even if his feelings are positive he doesn't share them out loud. This is also a testament to him being rather timid, but nonetheless an example of his habit of remaining silent in scenarios where it would not be inappropriate for him to respond verbally.

While I'm sure this is partially an innate personality trait of his, or something related to his upbringing, I also think it's interesting that Ema is on the squad with the one guy who can “read minds”, Kageura. Or at the very least, pick up the vibes Ema puts out, with his side effect.

Kageura unfortunately may be Ema's worst enabler when it comes to his communication problem. Ema doesn't have to verbally tell Kageura he enjoys his company because Kageura can just feel it. If Ema has an issue or criticism, he can just radiate any distress he feels and Kageura will know without Ema having to say anything.

It's easy to name Kageura as a character who lacks people skills, but in reality his side effect actually makes him the biggest crutch for social situations.

Meanwhile the argument between Ema and Ninomiya is like reading a black pot and a black kettle point fingers at each other and decide which is worse at communicating. Congratulations you're both awful at it. Somebody go tell Chika she's doing great.

I think operators should get their own versions of their squad's uniform as well. I was going to say it's unfair that they don't but on second thought the reason why might be because operators don't use trion bodies. I think. Therefore, now that they have field operators as of the phase 2 arc, there's no excuse for operators all wearing the same outfit. Though there was never a good excuse to begin with if you ask me, now there is even less of an excuse. I just think it's a bummer that operators get left out of the cool matching outfits. Right? Hiyami Aki watch out you're not safe.

Not to be super morbid or anything but if Chika ever turned into a Black Trigger, she would be a Rice Cooker with the special ability to produce nigh Infinite Amounts of White Rice.

It creates matter out of nothing. It might be useless. You could cure world hunger with it. There is no advantage to having it in combat. It breaks the laws of science.

Kageura Squad in Round 4 is so freaking funny whenever I think about it because of how they seemed to have even less of a strategy than usual, and STILL got points. NONE of these dumbasses are on the same page about what they're doing,

Kageura: *wants to fight Kuga, but will accept a minor detour just to grief Inukai, full offense*

Ema: *beefing with Ninomiya (also full offense), and trying to help his crush (she's on the enemy team)*

Nire: We had to sacrifice Zoe, but that's OK

Zoe: Stop telling everyone I'm dead

Nire: Sometimes I can still hear his voice

One thing I appreciate about World Trigger is that being a cranky middle-aged executive who often obstructs the protagonists' goals is not synonymous with being incompetent at their jobs. Because the organization would be in shambles if they were.

Like in retrospect Netsuki is kind of getting paid to say stuff like “if you let a neighbor (whom the general public and many active agents have a somewhat justified grudge against) enlist then that will be bad for PR” It's in his job description. He may have 100% had that uppercut coming for past and future actions, but god if I had Netsuki's job I would simply quit. Turn in my resignation ASAP.

Instead Netsuki repeatedly did Not get his way, as both Kuga and Hyuse enlisted despite objections otherwise, and then when things predictably went south due to Hyuse being a neighbor Netsuki didn't even say “I told you so”. Somehow that slimy PR guy is a bigger person than I would be. We shouldn't give him credit for not being petty and refusing to do his job, but in any other series thats 100% what Netsuki would have done. He'd just tell Osamu to cope and deal with the Hyuse rumor problem on his own.
