everyone's like wehhhhh why doesn't doctor house gets suuuueeed! like my man. literally every patient he sees is someone that's been trying to find a diagnosis for ages. i could live with a little medical malpractice if it were coming from someone ready to break into my home to look for allergens and not simply half heartedly listen to me before suggesting I lose weight and take ages of back and forth arguing to order a single test

Once Taub (derogatory) derisively said about a patient with unexplained chronic pain ā7 doctors couldnāt find anything wrong with him, what does that mean?ā and House replied without even thinking āit means theyāre idiotsā and proceed to work his ass off to diagnose the patient Taub wanted to write off as a faker or something. If a doctor had said that when that patient was ME, I wouldnāt dream of suing them in a million years

Team members with kids?Have an entire fucking waiting list on whoās turn it is to drop their kids off to him.(Kim Rok Soo does not know this).The kids come back with at least one more life skill then they had before,and surprising amount of emotional maturity for having been taken care of by the most emotionally stunted man known to mankind.
You can 100% be sure that if you drop your kid off with him,youāll come back with the kid even more whole and healthy than before.
There could be an attack and Kim Rok Soo lowkey looks like a man with one step in the grave,the area around him is literally smoking,the ground has fucking vanished into craters,but oh would you look at that kid is 100% fine albeit crying cause they are now emotionally traumatized after seeing that shit.But like not the type of emotionally traumatized as āmommmy i never want to come here againā but more like āmoommmyy why are you taking me away look at mister heās already so hurt,heāll get lonely too,he kept me safe,heās my heroā

welcome to my talk show where I talk about witch hat atelier and how disabled people are treated in it cause I think itās a really interesting topic that Kamome tackled really wellā¦
MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE MANGA BELOW!!!!!
Iāll mainly be focusing on characters like Custas and Beldaruit;
Seal chairs are obviously the immediate thing to use for anyone with a disability impairing their mobility, things like physical therapy Iām guessing donāt really exist yet or arenāt a used concept yet.
Seal chairs are just a bandaid slapped onto a wound- youāre thrown into the world with a janky wheelchair. Theyāre shown to be flimsy and prone to breaking, alongside that theyāre really only useful on flat terrain;
Witch society and just all of society in general hasnāt found a way to compensate for people with disabilities. They havenāt found alternative ways to help them and it isnāt being prioritized. Coco and Tartah- two CHILDREN- had to invent something to help their friend get around. And then, in the leech arc they had to create a splint for Beldaruits broken arm. The girls also make sure to compensate for Beldaruits seal chair when completing their second trial.
Iād like to appreciate the fact that these little examples of the children helping people struggling with disabilities in a world where these people arenāt cared for puts more emphasis on how important coco and others are for the future of Magic. Alongside that the pressure on them of either using forbidden magic to help or innovating a new way to help with harmless magic;
Next I want to move on to Beldaruit; he might have something similar to ehlers danlos syndrome with descriptions of brittle bones and hyper-mobility. Going off this theory, people with these symptoms donāt necessarily need a wheelchair all the time, especially if theyāre younger and their bodies arenāt being affected by old age, and Beldaruit has been using a seal chair for presumably all- if not most- of his life. Heās shown to never be standing or walking in the slightest. I think the reason for this is the lack of physical therapy and proper ways for a diagnosis, Beldaruit has a mobility issue that requires the support of others yet the world theyāre in isnāt supportive of the disabled.
The support he likely lacked growing up with a disability plays a lot into his character. The fact that he was able to become a sage is likely a great feat itself. Heās prone to bending rules, opening up to new ideas, and going against tradition because heās been failed by this world.
One of the biggest plot points in witch hat atelier is innovation. All of these characters in some way are impacting the future of their world through their creations. The world of witch hat atelier is extremely sensitive to change and inventions and itās obviously at a point of major change.
This is why story arcs involving characters struggling with mental and physical disabilities is so important. Even people like Tartah and Qifrey lack respect as witches due to their visual impairments, they arenāt expected to be able to draw spells and succeed in it. But they find ways like with Tartah and the ingredients;
Another massive appreciation I have is them including the struggles of a persons disability being exploited.
During the entirety of the Silver Eve arc Deanreldy is medically abusing and exploiting Beldaruit due to the fact that Beldaruit is completely bed-bound without the help of others in the castle.
Deanreldys goal obviously implies using witches (likely Beldaruit as heās the most vulnerable) to get ahold of magic, thereās constant metaphors and talks about the tipping of the scales and the dynamics between royalty and witches. Thereās a power imbalance within the castle between Deanreldy and Beldaruit.
This section is a little shorter since there hasnāt been much with all that Deanreldy is planning, thereās likely way more to come in the future and I might make an update to this or a new post when the time comes.
