eleventh year in fandom: au where the character is a little jingle bell for sale on ebay for 8.99
guy who's having gauzy idealized wife flashbacks for the whole adventure but it turns out she isn't dead or anything he just really misses her and wants to get home

Actually you SHOULD make problematic content. You SHOULD explore dark or taboo topics. You SHOULD have a space where you can cope with your traumas or explore sensitive topics in a way that doesn't hurt anyone.
Also you should make problematic content for funsies. You don't need to have had trauma or need to be coping in order to explore dark creativity. You can just be a human who wants to explore dark and taboo topics because you want to. That's completely normal, btw.
Every single person on this planet thinks about dark and taboo things. It's literally the most normal thing in the world.
Go draw the horror porn and be free.
we should all be more like david cronenberg and write fucked up stuff. For Funsies
I just think that if you knew you were going to be pissed off by monsterfucker vibes being added to Frankenstein in a film adaptation, you probably should not have watched the Frankenstein movie directed by the world's most famous monsterfucking advocate.
getting mad at guillermo del toro frankenstein for having monster fucking vibes is like getting mad at at a fish for being wet and in water.
like.
what else did you fucking expect dawg.
we gotta go back in time and save disco
Sleeping like shit is soooo cool because the next day you get to feel like you have a disease
I see we’re all doing well,
“Batman Returns Still Has the Best Romance in a Superhero Movie” by David Crow / Batman Returns dir. Tim Burton.
honestly you all are so annoying because motherhood IS interesting but fandom people are simultaneously obsessed with deciding that every woman has motherly qualities and completely disinterested in actually exploring motherhood as a role that informs a character. I do think exploring a character being a mother can be wildly interesting if they are canonically one, but because of misogyny, people just view motherhood as a totally unremarkable naturalized state that all women must inhabit!
I've reblogged this before as-is, but have been thinking about it more lately due to my attempts to conceive ... Actually, to me fandom on Tumblr seems singularly obsessed with declaring that no female characters that are remotely interesting would be mothers, to the point that I only tend to see anything about ships having kids very rarely and when I do, nearly always it's from m/m perspectives (sometimes in fantasy contexts, sometimes just "this is what I want so it happens"). It seems to have become law that women who are at all driven or tough or smart Wouldn't Do That, which on the one hand gets around the sexist idea that every woman MUST want to have kids while on the other being sexist in that motherhood can never be explored in fandom, as exploring it is inherently suspicious.
“This character is dead in canon” to you. They’re dead in canon to you. To me they’re fine
“This character is dead in canon” then explain to me why they’re still running around and living rent free in my head.
me: I ship them
friend: oh like romantically?
me: no. like cursed object passed between hands for centuries, they are cosmically linked, probably bonded by blood ritual, I think they’ve fought in a war together in at least three lifetimes, and their souls make direct eye contact every time they breathe in the same room
friend: so… romantically?
me: yeah. like. with kissing.
trying to avoid spoilers but still want to enjoy dragon age things?
there’s smaller creators on YT who are making really interesting videos rn. i want to highlight a few!
Chronicles of Noria. Noria- why did you have to make each of the companion videos this good?? it’s hard out here for bisexual disasters. Her playthrough is up on PSitsNoria for those more interested in gameplay.
Lorekeeper Sanctum. This channel is so soothing for my adhd hyper fixations. In-depth dives into game lore with an almost asmr vibe. Right now this includes an incredible series on each of the Evanuris with background and theories.
Redbeardflynn is making stuff about reasons we can be excited about the game- some of which we already know, some of which we don’t. Seems chill, has a skeleton- I’m getting Mystery Science Theater from this one.
Lavellan after they got Solas out of prison or smth

like not to come on here completely unprompted at 3am local time but out of every dragon age protagonist, the warden fighting the actual apocalypse with a crew they ordered on fivver included, the inquisitor has to be the one with the most comically absurd tale out of the three. absolute buffoonery of events. you walk into a big corpo meeting after the pope got blown up by a blonde nurse and accidentally happen to grab some guy’s super magically spicy ball and suddenly you’re jesus’s spokesperon. also the bald dude in your camp will fucking steal your loot a week later because he’s an old god. the spicy ball was his. insane
I think one of the reasons the dwarfs are so interesting in Dragon Age is that they are the only race truly living in a post apocalyptic society.
Yes, blights have ravaged the surface of Thedas, but they have always managed to rebuild afterwards. The dwarfs have two cities left, and the rest of their cities, their homes are teaming with darkspawn, with the thing that killed hundreds of thousands of them. The surface gets breaks from the blight but the dwarfs never do. The surface gets to build and expand but the dwarfs have to fight for every inch of land they have and even then they rarely can clear it all. And yet they have to live with the knowledge that once upon a time they did have a nation that spanned Thedas, they had connections and roads and kingdoms which will never come back, which have been forever lost. That's so fucking interesting.
