Hera
O royal Hera, of majestic mien, aerial-formed, divine, Zeus' blessed queen, throned in the bosom of cerulean air, the race of mortals is thy constant care. Orphic Hymn 16 to Hera (tr. Taylor) Glorious Hera, protector of women, goddess of childbirth, family, and marriage. Queen of Olympus, of the sky, she oversees all. To her, mortals pray for healthy babes and loving unions, and she grants them her mercy, knowing herself the suffering childbirth and marriage can bring.

@tarot-on-a-technicality For Hera — the regions of Argos, Samos, Magna Greca, Lesbos, etc will definitely want to be your focus of study. Understanding Greek Religion <— has a section on Hera and the whole mythic vers cultic Hera

As the archetype of consummated marriage, the ancient ordinance of the marriage bed, Hera is everywhere the goddess of weddings and marriage - while seduction and carnal pleasure remain the responsibility of Aphrodite. In the wedding month Gamelion, sacrifices are made to her together with her Zeus, Zeus Heraios. She is invoked as the wedding preparing, gamostolos, as the uniter, zygia, and above all as the fulfilled, teleia, since marriage is in a special sense the goal and fulfilment of a human life. In front of her temple in Lesbos beauty contests take place. Sappho prays for Hera to be near her.
